ย ย ย ๐ฌ cold wind brushed by โ late in the year and early in the morning โ and the sun seemed hardly able to climb over the mountains. Faramir shivered as he looked out and would not have fathomed coming ere the lord said so. He stepped out and came next to Elrond and suddenly felt himself warm.
Indeed here the morning seemed to touch down as a soft and warm, golden light that fell around Faramir like a mantle. He was surprised for the sigh that fell from him. โ To think, I may have missed this blissful sight. โ He had not looked east to the rising sun in a long time and felt at peace. โ And to know that there is somewhere left untouched by that terrible darkness. โ Thoughtfully, he fled back to silence.
( Plotted starter for @adunada with my Sauron ! )
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย MAIRONโS schemes began to play and she was winning this game. Ar-Pharazรดn was wrapped around her finger like one of her rings. She had broughtย TERRORย upon the isle of Nรบmenor, carrying with her a dark promise of eternal life. She poisoned their kingโs mind ( although he was already riddled, she simply gave him a nudge into the wrong direction ) and soon theย PLAGUEย had spread throughout. Her King was gone but he would not be forgotten and she cared not how much blood must be spilt to ensure itโ hers or theirs.
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Theย temples that were once belonging to the Valar in the Westโ their statues and offerings were shattered and tossed away, making way for the sculpture of their newer god and Mairon took it upon herself to be called the High Priestess, promising them a dark deceit of eternal life.
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย It had come upon her ear that there were stillย HERETICSย filled withย HOPE ,ย JOYย andย FAITH . They worshipped still those Valar that had nothing but oppose her Lord Melkor. With a few of valiant followers, she had scoured for that so called sacred house of prayer. Her voice ย FEATHERY ย and almost too ย GLEEFULย and herย SMILEย was far too convincing. Indeed, she brought justice to her name, theย DECEIVER . Though she was clothed still with Nimloth upon her breast, she appeared soย MENACINGย with the Eye drawn upon her head with black ink and her own eyes shining in the darkย should she stand beneath it.
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย She spoke to the people ofย Rรณmenna and bidding them to join her. In the midst of a throng of faceless strangers, she stood and arms are raised. Her voice was thunderous but only for the Men to hear her. For a moment, she truly seemed indeedย KINDย andย HUMBLE .ย ย โ Our Lord Melkor would smile upon us all if you should renounce your faiths and join us instead. Let not their lies cloud your sight and blind ye ! โ
ย ย ย ๐ฟhey all stood quietly in this hall โ the Elendili, in the tongue now openly forbidden to them, the Faithful, called spies and traitors not by themselves but by the Kingโs Men โ and were turned westward in both faith and yearning in these days. Hidden and safe by virtue of the Lord Amandilโs name; last Lord of Andรบniรซ, though they did not know it yet.
The blasphemous and booming voice that came from whence theyโd turned their backs swallowed that praying silence. Men suddenly stirred in confusion, angerโ dread. And then hushed voices came to the stillness and quickly grew louder. Yet they all stood together, for Tar-Mairon had crept into the Kingโs council and they knew her.
One, held by his own terror and yet urged by that of his kinsfolk, finally step forth again. โ Be gone, fiend, for we see far and we see that your evil lordโs mask does not hide his foul deeds. โ A scholar, and in his youth a refuge from the western shores of Elenna.ย โ For this goodness and this land are not his gifts but of the Lords of West! ย ย ย Never shall his name find a home in this hall. โ

ย ย ย ๐ฟhe cold air chilled him deeply and ever more as night dragged on (or what one would call it, for though Mithrandir ventured there were windows on the long side, either night was not ending or they would not see the day by some other ill). The Nine had spread their blankets all about them and their fur coats and gathered closely all together, yet little that seemed to hold against the draught of the great mineโs hall.
And despite the silence sleep came only arduously and was easily stirred when the guard changed. When Legolas left and Frodo came back Faramirโs slumber was jostled, but he lay still until Frodo lay down again. Then he spoke only in a low voice when he did. โ There is not a whisper in these halls yet I find no good rest. Perhaps I need for the toll of the city, where there is life. โ
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐:
ย ย Elrond tilted his head, missing the first question entirely. With soft eyes he watched the son of man marvel at the expanse of one shelf out of a vast library ( and even the library here was just one out of a few elsewhere in the Vale. )
ย ย The thoughts that flowed through his mind was of a much better time, when the worst news that bade Man to Rivendell was just about a very, very long winter. Everything dwindled when Angmar rose; the noise, the crowd, the colourful words. Everything passed away at the Last Alliance, but Elrond lived on. Diminished, but on he did.
ย ย There are no words to describe the familiarity he feels towards Faramir.
ย ย There is nothing that can take away the smile he offers, despite all things. Maybe later, when he is alone, he will settle his feelings.
ย ย โPerhaps, of someone dearest to me.โ Without turning, Elrondโs hand reached past a few books to pick one out about Ereinion Gil-galad. It is a story of both King and elf. โYou may keep it, I have many copies. It may well serve as a beacon on your journeys.โ
ย ย ย ๐ฐven one blessed with longer life from old could barely fathom the time it took to fashion such a collection โ the age of the Eldar โ could only just so think on many there stood in the vale. The Lord Elrondโs answer touched him deeply; would he not like to think to do the same.ย
โ I thank you, lord. Most dearly will I keep it, โ Faramir bowed his head as he took the book into his hands, one below and one one the cover guardingly, โ and read it in time. โ Tonight, he thought and even now he looked at it. The touch of it too felt unlike he might compare, Faramir marvelled at it as much as at the shelves first. Grey eyes sought not to hide all that, and yet more they spoke.
ย ย ย โ You have not said, lord, but at the Council, as all there spoke and I, a sense came over me that echoes now within your words of comfort. โ Thus Faramir said so, and he looked at Elrond with an earnestness that for a moment overpowered his still real amazement.ย โ I deem, my journey homeward will be more difficult than even the way by which I came. โ
|| dol amroth is gondorโs visible boner for elves
hc + anything he read about the feanorians
|| Maybe not read, all of it, but come to know about in some way.
There is the Anor-stone, that I think Faramir could guess at being in Minas Tirith still though he never mentioned. And know that with the others it came from Nรบmenor, and that there they had been a gift from the Eldar and long before made by their most skillful.
I bet there are โfairytalesโ around in Dol Amroth talking about Maglor, and how he still wanders the shores.
I think the story of the Silmarils hangs around as a likely great legend of sorts, like as Maglor still wandering, whether they tie together like they do in the storytelling or less so.
There is also:
Those Gondorians learned in lore wished to speak like Noldor [โฆ]
Gondor loves Noldor. And for as much as they keep record and care of their history over all, the Last Alliance cannot be forgotten, and is not. I think some of Faramirโs regret, I think you could call it, that there was a time that the Gondorians had more close dealings with the Eldar of Middle-earth (as he related to Frodo, yadayada) comes from knowing this.
But that is to say, I think, much of the fate and tragedy that befell Fรซanor and his sons is not as well related, and they are more so lost next to what little might be known of Fingolfinโs line through the kings of Gondor, the kings of Nรบmenor, Elros, and Eรคrendil. A little bit through Fingon and Gil-galad by the circumstances of the Last Alliance, like I said.
I think in Dol Amroth the ships resemble those swan ships of the Teleri thatย Fรซanor came on, and that there is some relation. And that maybe so much Faramir also knows, through his motherโs side of the family.
Send me HC + a word and Iโll write a headcanon about it regarding my character.
