Gettin’ squashy!
The salad plot in late June 2018. The transplants are doing great, and the soil is fluffing up wonderfully in the direct seeded beds. It’s all a bit brown now after a good tidy, but there’s weekly salad and baby veg harvests all the way through to Halloween. . #allotment #urbanfarming #marketgardening #growyourown #organicgardening
Make your pile in layers of green stuff and brown stuff. Green stuff like leaves, grass clippings, kitchen waste, sea weed, weeds, egg shells, and coffee grounds. Brown stuff is hay, nutshells, paper, sawdust, pine needles, cornstalks, straw from animal bedding. Use cow, horse or other barnyard animal manure. Every so often throw in a shovel full of dirt. Plain old garden soil contains all the micro-organisms your pile will need. Turn it about every two weeks and check it for moisture.
This lil guy paid us a visit today đŸ’˜
Summertime and the garden is booming along. We watch it grow by the day it seems.
