Meet Ethan McTavish - love interest for Elizabeth Strong in Warped.
As the ship set sail, Ethan McTavish worked with his fellow “Coal men” to give the vessel the fuel it needed to get underway. Each shovel load of coal, rhythmic and steady. Each shovel mocking him, “You’ll never find her. You’ll never find her.” Ethan picked up his speed to get the rhythm out of his head and tried to focus on something else.
He had hoped to find Moira and marry her. He had hoped they would leave the village instead of the events that separated him from her. Angry at his parents for forcing him to let her out of his sight. Angry that her parents took her to a different home and life had been too much to bear. He had left several days later, hoping to find the girl who had won his heart and who inspired him to protect her and others. The girl with red and blonde hair, the girl with freckles and big brown eyes that seemed to glow when she smiled, the girl he had prayed to God to help him find. He finally decided God must not care, so he turned away from God and tried to find Moira on his own, only to finally give up.
Despair and hopelessness sank over Ethan as he continued shoveling coal. Maybe he could make a new life in Bellah and maybe work his way to Earth. He didn’t think he would ever find a woman who would compete with his Moira, but he could at least leave the world where she hid from him. Not even the Grymanic-Wallean War had helped him forget her, so he would live alone. Maybe he would find a farm and live out his centuries there.
