advbogum:
well, she’s a rude one isn’t she?
bogum scoffs. he’s trying to help her but really he’s not. it’s a guise, obviously, but this girl seemingly believes him. he’s more intrigued at the quick glance of fangs she shows off. yeah, he knew it was right to follow her. he had seen her showing off those scales. she’s a slippery one, all puns intended. whatever she was, snake hybrid or some other kind of vermin, bogum would ensure she would not be going outside for some time. she’s going to need some time away from the watching eyes of the public.
“obviously you’re transforming,” he replies in a dull tone as she hisses at him. he’s not really afraid, their height difference allows him leverage over her. he could easily snap her neck if he wanted, but that was not the point of today. today is about fear. installing fear is something bogum loves to do. yet she’s barely cooperating with him. this just annoys him and does nothing to rectify the situation. if anything, he’s just bothered.
so now she’s just sitting on the ground looking like a child who’s throwing a tantrum. fine. bogum is really sick of her attitude anyway. so he glares at her. “and excuse me for helping you. don’t be stuck up about it.” he replies, almost snarling. but he keeps it together. mostly.
“let me bring you to a safer place. would that maker you happier?”
‘Obviously you’re transforming.’
The statement acted like a dagger thrust straight through her heart, and a part of her was already dying -- that one, small (yet desperately hopeful) part that believed everything could go back to the way it had been. But now that a stranger had confirmed what a freak she was, Yeri understood that the demise of her human self was near. She could no longer go back to pretending after this.
“You’re not helping me.” Yeri definitely snarls right back at him, not at all bothering to hide the rage lurking somewhere deep within. Whoever he thought he was, she wanted him dead. It was obvious that he had spotted her scales, and instead of staying at a healthy distance he had swept in like a hawk flexing its talons. He may think he was doing her a favor, maybe he was kind, but that’s not what she wanted.
She reaches into her pocket, fingers expertly rearranging the keys on the chain in-between each finger -- whatever makeshift weapon had to do. Meanwhile she narrows her eyes, eyebrows furrowed just enough to perfectly send one very clear, very distrustful message: who do you think you are?
“Help! Somebody help me! He’s going to hurt me--” As well-practiced as ever, her voice carried loud, desperate and ever so convincing. She had gotten male teachers fired for simply existing in a way that didn’t benefit her, so it wasn’t hard to convince a scattered crowd that she was being threatened. Even if they didn’t end up interfering she’d have witnesses and, by any luck, this man’s reputation would be tarnished, if just slightly. And that’s why she, as soon as the call for help had carried to curious ears, stumbled back in such a way that would suggest he had just pushed her into the oncoming traffic.
Despite putting herself at such great risk, all her eyes said as she stared back at him was ‘fuck you’.
