STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters… S.T..R …
My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.
STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)
They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid’s husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.
Some don’t die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this…
STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke…totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Remember the ‘3’ steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions :
S * Ask the individual to SMILE ..
T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg ‘It is sunny out today’).
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
NOTE : Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is
1. Ask the person to ‘stick’ out their tongue.
2. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.
A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
And it could be your own.
First reblog post that actually saves a life.
This is a life-saving post.
the more you know
yeah don’t think that this can’t happen to you or someone you know if they’re young. my cousin’s wife is 33 and she had a stroke last year
I’ve had a stroke. It happens to people, and the more you know about this kind of stuff, the better.Because it could be important to know.
Always worthy of a reblog. Please take heed of this information. It could determine whether someone stays on this side of the ground or winds up on the other. 😬
I love that four different people on my feed scheduled this joyous person to reblog by 8am on June 1. I look forward to seeing this a dozen more times today.
a thought: imagine you make a seemingly classic deal with the fae where in exchange for their help you will owe them your firstborn child.
but the trick you're banking on here is that you never planned on having any children at all, ever, because you have no desire whatsoever to become a parent and have never wanted children.
consequences?
the fae don't fall for your lie to begin with
the fae twist fate to ensure you DO end up w/ a child somehow
they're pissed bc they can't force it (bad consequences)
they're pissed bc they can't force it (they leave you alone)
they're kinda impressed actually
they simply reverse whatever help they granted you originally
they steal the firstborn child of someone else you know instead
something else I'm too tired to think of rn
idc but I wanna click a button (results)
Remaining time: 2 hours 23 minutes
(wouldn't be surprised if this has already been written somewhere, prolly more than once, but the thought just occurred to me outta nowhere and I'm tired & trying to distract myself so. why not!)
disclaimer: didn't include "can't physically have them" as part of the trick bc not being able to doesn't necessarily mean not wanting them, and I'm sure the fae, tricky as they are, would be happy to substitute an adopted child or a youngin' you took under your wing instead of a biological child)
Do you think it's like a rite of passage for every new generation of xmen to momentarily feel like it's kind of fucked up to be trying to kick the shit out of a senior citizen until magneto crumples someone into a cube like a trash compactor in front of them and they're just like Oh Ok
On the one hand I'm sure everyone else is very heavily emphasizing that magneto is Theee big bad of all time and so on and so forth the whole time the new ones are training but also. Like. Imagine you're the new new new mutants or whatever and somebody manages to actually knock magneto over and he stays on the ground for a second and you're kind of looking at each other like. Guys isn't he *really* old what if we just killed magneto & then the entire city starts shaking while he's getting back on his feet & you're like ohhh he's just REALLY ANGRY now. Ok :) oh that's bad :/ oh shit. Uh oh

Knowing how a virus spreads is essential to public health, but people keep getting it wrong.
A man goes to a birthday party, sits next to someone with hantavirus, catches it, gives it to his wife, and dies. His wife then infects 10 more people at his wake. Another guest at that same birthday party has no interaction with the index patient except to say “hello” as they cross paths, but that person gets sick too.
One index patient, 33 subsequent infections, 11 deaths, four waves of transmission.
This is from a meticulously documented hantavirus outbreak in Argentina in late 2018 and early 2019, published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). Nearly the exact same Andes strain of hantavirus caused the recent outbreak on the Dutch cruise ship MV Hondius. Yet from the moment this latest outbreak hit the news last month, public-health officials have been claiming that this virus is spread through “prolonged close contact.” The evidence is not nearly so reassuring.
[...]
As an expert in what we call “exposure science,” I have spent a career conducting forensic investigations to understand how diseases spread and what we should do about it. As a member of the Lancet COVID-19 Commission, I chaired the Safe Work, Safe School, and Safe Travel task force, and was an early proponent of the theory that COVID spreads through the air. There was evidence early on of airborne transmission, which my colleagues and I tried to draw attention to. We modeled the early-2020 outbreak of the disease on the Diamond Princess cruise ship and found that 90 percent of the spread was through aerosols, not contaminated surfaces, but the CDC didn’t update its guidance until late 2020. I am alarmed to see the same pattern playing out now.
Hantaviruses usually originate in rodent feces. Someone cleans a dusty area that has rodent droppings, inhales the particles, and gets sick. Only the Andes strain of hantavirus is known to be transmitted from human to human. In the outbreak documented in NEJM, the virus spreads without physical contact or prolonged exposure. One patient gets sick after simply crossing paths with someone who was ill. Two others are infected while seated at tables meters away. One person infected five others within 90 minutes at one party. The NEJM authors suggested that the virus spreads through the air.
Although the NEJM evidence is clear, officials have kept repeating “prolonged, close contact,” so I wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing anything. Last week I spoke with a physician who was on the MV Hondiusas a passenger but who jumped in to help treat infected passengers after the ship’s official doctor got sick and was evacuated. He told me that the original treating doctor and staff were definitely in close contact with the first patient. But the others who got sick? They had merely shared space in the dining room and the lecture hall, and had not had close contact. We’re now at 10 confirmed cases from the ship, which aligns with the prior outbreak dynamics: one person infecting many, no close contact required.
[...]
This matters because medical teams treating patients need to know how they might be exposed. When infected passengers go home to quarantine, their households need to understand the risk. As passengers fly back to their home countries, contact tracers need to know which exposures matter. The doctor who treated patients on the cruise said on CNN that he relied on goggles, a gown, and hand-washing to protect himself. But given that this virus spreads through the air, an N95 mask and a strong ventilation and filtration system would have served him better.
[...]
This outbreak is not likely to spark a pandemic, mostly because the hantavirus is less contagious than influenza, measles, and SARS-CoV-2. But given just how little experience we have with this virus, any certainty is hubris.
i hate the way fat antagonists have their weight moralized and used as a metaphor for greed and corruption and i hate the way it's overcorrected into fat people being "soft squishy friend-shaped cupcakes who look like they give incredible hugs" and i long for the day we have nuanced, interesting, and complicated fat characters and most of all i long for the day people are normal about fatness
thoughts triggered by but mostly unrelated to what i last reblogged: do we think a heavenly demon could resurrect itself from a single drop of blood if its entire body has otherwise been COMPLETELY obliterated? (Wolverine has done it at least once lol. tho the time i remember was aided by a super powered space crystal thing.)
What if that drop of heavenly demon blood were inside another person?
What if, instead of recreating their own body, the heavenly demon overwrote the owner of the body with the drop of blood inside it and took it as their own. It’s a heavenly demon body now. with all the powers and abilities. the former owner of the body is dead. but on the outside, the body looks the same. sounds the same. even has access to the memories of the original so they act almost entirely the same.
might be interesting.
a concept for a horror fic or something lol.
or a way to resurrect Zhuzhi-Lang into an OC’s body. (or SQQ’s if you want to be evil)
Evidence for why Binghe knew that Shen Qingqiu was not Shen Jiu after Sha Hualing's Invasion
Aka, why did MXTX write in her new extras that Binghe knew so soon?
This has been on my mind for awhile now after seeing people be upset about the new extras "rewriting bingqiu's relationship" and such. That was quite surprising to me because I had thought for years now that Luo Binghe knew that the new Shen Qingqiu was not Shen Jiu. The new extras really just confirmed my interpretation, much to my delight.
I hadn't necessarily thought that he knew this early on, especially since he hinted as such during the Holy Mausoleum arc that he knew that something was strange about Shen Qingqiu, but reading back I can see what mxtx was getting at. Her subtle hints were a bit too subtle early on, and since they left unconfirmed by the end of the original extras, I can see why she felt the need to have Luo Binghe confirm that he knew Shen Yuan wasn't the original Shen Qingqiu.
I'll be using my copies of the 7seas translation of SVSSS from Felicity. I'm not going to be referencing the new extras from here on. I also will not be using screenshots of the text and will instead be directly quoting or summarizing scenes if they are too long, mostly for accessibility reasons and because I am writing this on my computer. I'll cut out things that don't really matter, but I've included page numbers for if you want to read back and get the full context.
OOC
At the start of SVSSS, the System introduces a concept called the OOC lock for out of character actions. Until Shen Qingqiu can complete a "beginner-level quest to unfreeze it," he is bound to act like the original Shen Qingqiu. The System warns him repeatedly before he acts out of character, going as far to say that Shen Qingqiu would stand by and smile as Luo Binghe is beat or join in on the beating himself.
For each true violation of the OOC lock, he is deducted B-points, the only currency keeping him from being sent back to his original world. He only loses points when he takes an action that others notice is OOC and can attribute to him.
The first time he violates the OOC lock, he loses 70 B-points in rapid succession, ten for each sharpened flying leaf he sends to cut Ming Fan and the other bullies.
The only person to notice these OOC actions is Luo Binghe.
Meanwhile, outside the forest, Luo Binghe had already left the back of the mountain, and he slowly unclenched his fist.
Lying in his palm was a whole green leaf. Its edges were sharp and stained with blood.
- SVSSS 7seas Book 1 page 48
Because of the trenches Shen Qingqiu left from his training, Luo Binghe and Ning Yingying knew that Shen Qingqiu had been nearby. Luo Binghe is the only one out of the group shown to have realized what cut the bullies, the sharpened leaves. Shen Qingqiu is punished with point deductions because Luo Binghe knew he was acting out of character by protecting him.
The next point deduction comes after Ning Yingying "convinces" Shen Qingqiu to let Luo Binghe ride in the carriage with him, an action that he has to argue with the System is not OOC because, "Shen Qingqiu would never do anything to alleviate Luo Binghe's troubles." Shen Qingqiu loses B-points for the simple action of smiling at Luo Binghe.
The paragraphs before the point deduction offer us a look into Luo Binghe's mind. He's still under the impression that Shen Qingqiu is as bad as he's ever been, and he's surprised that he is being left alone. He even takes this moment to examine Shen Qingqiu, which stirs some uncertain feelings in him.
To tell the truth, it would have been a lie to say that Luo Binghe wasn't surprised. Even though he'd always revered Shen Qingqiu, he had no illusions about how his master treated and looked at him.
At first, he'd thought that if Shen Qingqiu asked him to get in the carriage, there must be something even more terrible waiting for him within, and he'd mentally prepared himself for it. He hadn't expected Shen Qingqiu to not bother with him at all, instead focusing only on himself as he began to meditate.
...when not fixed in a cold scowl, it [his face] became gentle and bright...
...He quickly averted his gaze and became increasingly awkward, unsure of what he was feeling
- pages 59-61
After arriving at the manor and meeting Old Man Chen and Die-er, Shen Qingqiu spends the evening locked up in his room because the System insists that, "the original Shen Qingqiu liked quiet and would be unwilling to mingle."
After Ning Yingying gets kidnapped and Luo Binghe retrieves his Shizun, Shen Qingqiu then loses 50 B-points due to being captured and half-striped by the Skinner demon. This is also when Luo Binghe gets his world rocked by seeing Shen Qingqiu tied up in red ropes. Since this plot isn't in PIDW and the System declared Shen Qingqiu getting captured OOC, we can assume that this doesn't happen to the original goods. This is a SY as SQQ special.
I don't want to quote the whole thing here, especially after that large chunk above, but give pages 76-77 a read to witness dear Bingmei's awakening sexuality.
Luo Binghe stared in disbelief. He wondered bleakly if Shen Qingqiu's hatred for him had truly become to great.
But if that were the case, why had his master been just a little nicer to him on their trip to the city?
- page 79
A bit obvious, but Luo Binghe definitely picked up on Shen Qingqiu treating him nicer.
...Luo Binghe stared, unmoving, at the fallen Die-er in a puzzled silence.
- page 81
Although it didn't initiate a OOC lock strike, the perfectly normal beam falling from the ceiling was incredibly unnatural. Luo Binghe knows that something supernatural happened here because of Shen Qingqiu, who tricked Die-er into targeting him.
After this the OOC lock violation and Die-er is defeated, Shen Qingqiu is free to act as OOC as he wants.
Special Treatment
"If this disciple could give up his life for Shizun, it would be an honor."
...
"This master will promise you in kind," ... "Even if an accident befalls this master, no misfortune will come to you."
...
When Luo Binghe heard these words, it was as if his life force had been ignited. The sunflower that had begun to wilt revived, full of renewed vigor.
- page 84
Although it is left unsaid, I think that this is the moment where Luo Binghe really started to believe that Shen Qingqiu might not be the original goods. They had just defeated the imposter Skinner demon, and for the first time, Shen Qingqiu is acting outwardly proud and protective of him. No more hiding in trees or flimsy excuses for medicine: THIS is the new Shen Qingqiu, dedicated to ensuring that no misfortune comes to Luo Binghe.
Before entering seclusion, Shen Qingqiu makes sure that Luo Binghe has a new cultivation manual.
"Why is Shizun giving this disciple a completely different manual?"
...
As he stared after Shen Qingqiu's retreating back, Luo Binghe held that manual in both hands, his heart profoundly shaken.
Shizun had specially given this manual only to him!
...
He didn't know what Luo Binghe was thinking, but the boy was almost certainly thinking too much.
- pages 87-88
Shen Qingqiu giving Luo Binghe a new manual is yet another sign that the man has changed, and from that last sentence, we can guess that he was connecting the dots to the larger picture. Two manuals, the first given to him through Ming Fan with all the rest, the second special for him. He is clearly being treated differently.
Confirmation
Next up is the demon invasion. Shen Qingqiu has just come out of seclusion, Sha Hualing is here to make trouble, you know what's up.
Throughout the fight between Shen Qingqiu and Elder One Arm, Luo Binghe is continually amazed at how incredible Shen Qingqiu is, internally complimenting how strong he is alongside the other disciples.
And while Sha Hualing and Liu Mingyan are fighting, Shen Qingqiu keeps glancing at Luo Binghe.
Luo Binghe found it very hard not to care about that gaze. Why exactly did Shen Qingqiu keep looking at him? Was it possible that Shizun...really had an interest in him?
- page 112
Next, Shen Qingqiu is forced by the System to send in Luo Binghe to fight Elder Sky Hammer. And of course, at first, Luo Binghe is terrified out of his mind, and his fighting skills suffer for it. But then-
"He will win," Shen Qingqiu said lightly.
...
That meant that Shizun would only have chosen Luo Binghe for this match if he really did firmly believe he would win!
Thus did Student Luo Binghe's colorful imagination successfully activate the Massive Fog of Misunderstandings System.
No one had ever believed in him like this. If only because he'd been entrusted with something so vitally important, he absolutely had to win and make everyone see!
- pages 117-119
And then Luo Binghe defeats Elder Sky Hammer within an hour.
The "Misunderstandings System" mentioned here is referencing that Luo Binghe attributed Shen Qingqiu's decision to send him in against Elder Sky Hammer solely because of his belief in him. Except, Shen Qingqiu was mainly motivated by the System into doing so. Same later with sending Luo Binghe into the Endless Abyss, not saying anything in the Water Prison, etc.
Notably, Shen Qingqiu's confidence in him is something entirely new to the current Shen Qingqiu. As shown before, Luo Binghe was well aware of how his old Shizun thought of him, and he knew that something had changed since the Skinner mission. With some hindsight and those early clues, he could now reason that the change had happened sometime around when he first received that bottle of medicine.
Luo Binghe never felt like he was "proving" himself with winning this fight, just that he was living up to his Shizun's expectations.
Luo Binghe stared at the teal-clothed back before him, having forgotten to even say thanks. He only knew his master had saved him once again.
Shizun was always like this. He would seem to be harsh on Luo Binghe, yet when it came down to the critical moment, he always stood before his student.
- page 122
While some may try to claim that Luo Binghe calling him harsh here means that he is still staunchly under the impression that his Shizun hasn't changed, I really think this is Luo Binghe starting to make the distinction between them in his mind already. "...he always stood before his student," when did Shen Jiu ever protect him? The Shizun he's referring to is the current one, who has protected him over and over now. The medicine bottle, the leaves in the forest, the carriage ride, the skinner demon, and now Elder Sky Hammer - all of these things were done by the current Shen Qingqiu.
Upon hearing the description of Without a Cure, Luo Binghe's lips trembled. In this moment, all the wrong Shen Qingqiu had committed against him in the past were wiped clean from his heart.
- page 127
This act of selflessness truly confirmed to Luo Binghe that this person was not the original Shen Qingqiu. It's well established that the og Shen Qingqiu cared a lot about his cultivation and catching up to his fellow peak lords. Having his Shizun sacrifice his cultivation and health like this, for a disciple he mistreated as much as Luo Binghe? Clearly this is someone else.
Luo Binghe doesn't know how or why it happened. Maybe Shen Qingqiu lost memories during a qi deviation like the other peak lords think, and that drastically changed his personality. Maybe Luo Binghe takes some inspiration from the Skinner demon and realizes that someone replacing another without needing to change skins so often is a possibility in this world. We don't know how he rationalizes it, but this sacrifice is enough for Luo Binghe to metaphorically wash his Shizun's sins clean in his mind.
These first two chapters, in regards to the relationship between the new Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe, have all been about establishing that this Shen Qingqiu is not out to abuse Luo Binghe. We see the start of Luo Binghe beginning to open up and trust Shen Qingqiu. With the demon invasion fight, Luo Binghe completely forgives his Shizun, and in the next chapter we have him making unending congee and moving into the Bamboo House.
Luo Binghe's Mind
"Originally, this disciple was under the impression that Shizun didn't care about him at all. Only after the third match did I understand what painstaking efforts Shizun had put in."
...
All that past mistreatment and abuse, completely forgotten because he'd saved Luo Binghe once? Weren't these favor points a little too easy to farm?
To no one's surprise, he was unable to understand the course of Luo Binghe's thoughts, with their hundreds and thousands of twists and turns.
...
He still didn't understand in the slightest. Bing-ge, what exactly did you realize?
- pages 136-137
Luo Binghe was apologizing for thinking ill of the new Shen Qingqiu, who he realized had been secretly putting in effort to help him for quite awhile now. Shen Qingqiu picks up that Luo Binghe is forgiving "him" too easily for all the abuse the protagonist suffered under "his" hands, and yet both his internal monologue and the narration imply that Luo Binghe has come to a conclusion that Shen Qingqiu does not understand.
Luo Binghe isn't forgiving him for abusing him because he saved his life once. He's forgiving him for thinking that he was the other guy. Because yeah, years of abuse isn't going to be forgiven that easily,
Meng Mo chuckled. "I saw your memories, boy. This master of yours does not treat you well. Why not just let me get rid of him? I would be going you a favor."
The memories Meng Mo had looked at were mostly those of the interactions between the original Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe. Those memories were indeed the greatest in number, but...
Luo Binghe shook his head, "Shizun isn't like you say, Senior."
...
For my sake, Shizun blocked two attacks meant for me. His goodwill is genuine.
- pages 170-171
That "but..." is pretty load bearing. Luo Binghe isn't considering the previous Shen Qingqiu as his Shizun at all anymore.
Conclusion
I've spent a long time making this post. I could go through all of SVSSS arguing my points, but I'm going to stop here partway through chapter 3. I hope that, if it hasn't convinced you that Luo Binghe knew that Shen Qingqiu wasn't the original, it at least showed that he knew that Shen Qingqiu had substantially changed. Luo Binghe goes through an arc at the start of SVSSS. He starts with being suspicious and wary of Shen Qingqiu, well aware of the mistreatment he's faced by Shen Jiu. Through his time with the new Shen Qingqiu, he gradually becomes aware that something has changed within his Shizun through the goodwill he is shown. By chapter 3, his outlook has completely changed, and he is fiercely loyal. Shen Qingqiu's continual support and trust in him came out of nowhere, but he eagerly accepts the change and returns it with deep loyalty and eagerness to return that selflessness in kind.
tumblr just added an update that requires you to verify your age in order to view "mature content". I'm not sure how they do the verification (haven't yet checked), but given recent similar updates from things like Discord, it most likely involves sending them a photo of either your face or your ID.
In addition, over the past few months, and also years in the long-term, tumblr has been incorrectly marking things as mature content. These include:
Notifications about missing persons and requests for help
Posts about youth liberation
Posts about sex education
Posts about how the mature content is poorly implemented
Posts about being trans, more specifically about trans women and transmisogyny by both tumblr and users on tumblr
Non-sexual selfies by trans women/transfems
Trans womens'/transefems' ENTIRE BLOGS even if the blog contains no sexual content
Reblogs made by various blogs, mostly trans women, which add no additional content but somehow are marked as containing mature content, when the original post is not
Posts talking about racism and antiblackness both on and off tumblr
Posts by black people, especially black trans people, that are non-sexual
And likely many more I haven't seen
In essence, this update has mandated that a majority of users must either a) submit their personal information to tumblr, a website whose moderation has been EXTREMELY biased against marginalised people and who I would not trust with my ID, or b) be excluded from absolutely all conversations tumblr decides are "mature content", whether they are actually sexual in nature or not. Furthermore, anyone not over 18 will also not be allowed to take part in these conversations, or even see them, or interact with many trans women or people of colour on this site, as tumblr decides.
This update is complete bullshit designed to censor and exclude marginalised people, poorly hidden under a guise of "protecting teenagers from sexual content", and they know it.
