Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who was murdered on the first day of Pride month as well as Indigenous History Month. He died protecting his trans husband. Homophobia and racism aren’t marks of the past, and this is a heart breaking reminder of that.

This is true of literally any technology, of course, but I forget that many people just go "This Technology BAD." So yes, good reminder: computers and algorithms—and yes, even generative 'ai'—are just tools, and what matters is how they're used.

A hammer is a great tool for building things but it can also cave someone's skull in. That doesn't mean the hammer is evil and we should get rid of hammers.
