Wheat Paste and Sigils
Wheat pasting is a form of biodegradable graffiti. Wheat paste is basically homemade glue that degrades over time. Wheat pasted art can be scrubbed off things pretty easily, and does no permanent damage to objects.
I usually wheat paste art on rocks and leave them places for others to find, or put them around my property.
I'm gonna show you guys how to make some so that you can temporarily paste sigils or other art in places. Above pic are some sigils and art I made and pasted on my front porch.
You Will Need:
1 part wheat flour
4 parts water
Sugar
Pot
Jar to keep wheat paste in
Rubber spatula
Sponge (Optional but reccomended) or a paint brush
Making the Wheat Paste
Pour water into the pot, put pot on the stove and turn the heat to low (in-between 2-3). Slowly add bits of your flour, don't put it all in at once. As you add the flour, stir with your spatula consistently. Before you add more flour, make sure there are no clumps in the mixture. Keep stirring until all the flour is mixed and the mixture becomes thick in texture. Next add a few pinches of sugar to make it more sticky. Pour paste into your jar using your spatula.
Its best to use wheat paste as soon as you make it because it only lasts a couple days in the fridge. Don't make big batches unless you have a big project.
To use wheat paste, grab your art, go to the spot where you want to put it, cover your sponge or brush in wheat paste and paint the spot where you want the art, place the art on the spot, then paint a layer of wheat paste onto the art then let it dry.
If you have art that was made with a water based medium, example: something printed with an ink based printer, water color, gouache, ball point pens, water base speed ball ink, your art will smear and bleed if you paint wheat paste on it, therefore, I recommend using a sponge to blot the wheat paste on so you do not smear it.
Have fun making graffiti!
The Eight Sabbats and The Wheel of the Year: My Digital Grimoire Series
*these are my notes, please do not repost as your own!*
hi! i returnta the witchblr tag to ask a question for witches not as rural & PNW as me:
is dollar tree ever gonna put their black seven-day candles back in their stock? mine stopped stocking them as of this year & it's a pain in the ass to find a plain black 7 day candle anywhere else for under $3 - _ -
There’s a reason this salt dough recipe is the first thing in my grimoire. Very few tools have been quite as versatile as this. I have made offering bowls, a measuring spoon, a deity statue, runes… and I could go on.
Salt dough is wonderful for witchery because you make it yourself, it’s cheap af, you can make it with things you steal from the kitchen while you’re stealing McCormack herbs (don’t lie, you know you’ve done it), and it’s salt based which is like the witchiest of witch things.
The small discs on the page are my latest idea, which is outlined in the second note on the page. I mixed dried herbs into the salt dough, formed discs, let it dry, and now I’ve got these portable little magic herb discs. The ones on the page are basil and powdered sugar for drawing wealth at work. But the possibilities are endless. If you can make an herb sachet or powder, you can probably also make it a salt dough disc.
Witch tip: set these out on a dish to dry by your window to give it all that good sun and moonlight.
DIY Air-Dry Clay
no salt, environmentally friendly
For offerings that break down in the rain with little-to-no environmental impact
2 parts BAKING SODA
2 parts CORNSTARCH
1.5 parts WATER
Using a wooden spoon, combine baking soda & corn starch in saucepan.
Rest on medium heat.
Gradually stir in water until fully combined (mashed potato consistency).
Place mixture in a clump on the counter. Cover with a damp towel until cooled.
Knead dough.
Mold to desired shape & allow to air dry!
These clay offerings should not be left in the same place often as they are not made of materials that are native to the area despite them being all-natural.
Making apple butter today since I didn't make any for Mabon and my spouse is really wanting some. Kitchen Witchery to the rescue. I use a 2 step method where I first reduce the apples to apple sauce on the stove and then further reduce them to apple butter in a crockpot.
Mabon Apple Sauce
1 quart apples sliced and peeled (I roughly chop mine into smaller pieces so they cook faster)
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar (I'm experimenting this time and using light brown sugar)
1 teaspoons lemon juice (I usually do this to taste depending on how sweet or tart the apples are that year. My husband picked up sweet apples so I eyeballed about a tablespoon to balance the flavors)
Cinnamon, optional (I add a shit ton of cinnamon to mine till I'm satisfied with it. Apple pie spice blend is also good)
Cook all the ingredients in a saucepan over medium low for 20 minutes or until tender and mash apples with potato masher. If it was Mabon I would take this time to observe the changing of the seasons. Since I am making this for a loved one I'm pouring my intention into drawing love and protection (this is appropriate since apples, cinnamon, sugar, and lemons are all used for love spells and protection spells)
If you're just making apple sauce this is the point where you put it in an airtight container and put in the fridge to cool. Since I'm making apple butter I dump it directly into the crockpot.
Mabon Apple Butter
2-9 quarts applesauce (The more apple sauce you use the thinner the butter. You can use homemade like I did or if you don't have time you can use your favorite store-bought apple sauce. Just remember that we are adding sugar to this so you may or may not want an unsweetened apple sauce from the store)
2 cups apple cider (I used pasteurized unfiltered non-alcoholic apple cider, but you can use alcoholic or filtered if you're not a fan of the sediments)
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground cloves (I omitted this ingredient this time since I was out in my cupboard, but it does add a depth of flavor and adds to the magickal protection and warmth of the apple butter)
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
3 cups sugar (I used light brown sugar again for this part)
Add apple sauce, cider, spices and sugar to crockpot making sure to leave at least an inch of room at the top if you're making a large batch. Mix well.
Turn crockpot on low for 8-12 hours.
At the 8 hour mark you will notice that your butter has reduced significantly. If you have additional apple sauce to add you would add it now and mix well. Cover and let cook till the 12 hour mark.
At the 12 hour mark you will notice it has reduced to a nice thick brown apple butter. From here you can use a hand blender or immersion blender to create a creamy, smooth texture if you want or go right into storing it in an air tight container. This can be served hot or cold. My spouse prefers a smooth butter so I will be using the immersion blender before jarring it. (If I was making this for Mabon I would use the time blending and jarring to focus on death and rebirth and the seasons. Since I'm making this at my husband's request I'm further pouring my intention into drawing and enhancing love as well as protection. The nutmeg that was added is also used in love spells)
I'll update with a picture of the apple butter as soon as it finishes tonight or tomorrow morning if I have reached my post limit for the day (I do that a lot).

Been a bit! That’s the ADHD, babey. [Just in writing, though... for this.]
I’m beginning to suss out that my ‘natural’ magic, or rather, my ‘specialty’ appears to be banishing/warding magic. It doesn’t matter /HOW/ tame I scale back the banishing, it really doesn’t - it ALWAYS works almost twice as potently as I expect it to!
I’m almost afraid of casting a banishing spell one day NOT in the right frame of mind. Whenever I do normally, I have to meditate, get myself to a ‘neutral’ point to start from, and scale back my emotional response initially while doing so; I even add ‘safety valves’ in the form of kind phrasing, additional spellwork/burning/incense to send good wishes to the banished’s life, ect and so on... and it STILL often works MUCH more potently than I expect. I’m a little nervous that the wrong frame of mind or severe desperation might cast something /way/ too strong, borderline hex-like.
I suppose it’s a good thing; I’ve had a lot of people I’ve been forced to turn to banishing due to tr*uma and situations otherwise unhandleable by words or actions, things that literally put me in danger... so I’m glad that it’s very effective. It’s just not what I expected for myself, I think?
I know it’s unrealistic to be able to determine what your affinity for magic is, what your most potent energy is for just based off personality type, but I suppose I probably would’ve put money on enchanting objects - turns out that’s something I’m barely mediocre with! Conversely, I never would’ve expected banishing to be something that so effectively taps into my energy.
If I had to write tips for my future self... having those negative emotions for a banishing /is/ good, to some degree. You just have to get yourself to a neutral state and temper how strongly those come out, first. Tear up paper if you have to while you think of them initially to get yourself to a more manageable level of negative emotions. And when the banishing is complete, release those emotions. Tell yourself and the world and your circle that you’re releasing those emotions back into the wind, you’re freeing yourself from the chains that bog you down, and when you’re upset again about it you’ll breathe through it and let it float away. Holding onto the initial emotions you cast the spell with can sometimes have a weakening effect, almost drawing the banished back towards you to some degree or weakening the wall you’ve metaphorically cast.
Practicing the Art of Letting Go
You’ll Need:
1 white tea candle
1 fallen leaf
Sea salt
An amethyst
A pen
Procedure:
Create a ring of sea salt and light the tea candle
Write the full name of the person you wish to let go of on the fallen leaf
Use the amethyst to trace the salt circle 3 times while repeating the phrase: “I will let go of those who are not meant for me.”
Trace 3 circles on your forehead with the amethyst repeating “I will let go of (their full name).”
Take the fallen leaf and begin burning it in the tea candle. Feed all negative emotions associated with that person into the flame. Focus on your intent as the leaf burns completely.
Take a deep breath, then with the utmost intent say “I am free” and break the circle.
i’m actually curious if there’s another local witch that frequents that store...? the runestones were entirely handmade, hand-painted, and i can’t imagine how long it took to find and clean 26 matching stones...
6/30/19;
i’m not much of a tag poster, but i’m a little curious to see anyone else’s experiences, so here goes ^^;
i’m a fairly broke witch, AND can’t be super open about being a witch, so most of my supplies i buy from thrift stores and dollar stores. i’m sure that’s familiar to most people~
i’ve always heard “tools choose you!”, and accepted that as true, but... well, i’ve never known just HOW literal that can be. in a series of consecutive weeks, here’s been my piece by piece thrift store haul;
a cast iron pillar candle holder + gold candle ($3 total; that day, i was thinking of buying a gold pillar candle for my altar. i was stressed because the dollar store in town doesn’t carry them, and i was looking at an annoying amount of money to spend.)
a brass candle snuffer ($1; that week i was thinking about how i needed one for my litany of candles, and was debating ordering one off amazon.)
a brass mini-cauldron ($1; okay, so brass isn’t traditional, but i was looking down a $40 fee for a cast-iron mini cauldron and stressing out. i was using a glass bowl i hated for burning paper and herbs and REALLY wanted something that i didn’t have horrible associations with!)
a full bag of handmade rune stones?! ($2?! i don’t even divine with runes, but as soon as i saw them and held them, i KNEW i was buying them. their energy was shockingly good, and pretty much immediately called to me.)
it’s WILD, actually, how every time i go into the store when i’m thinking about a specific tool, how i almost always find it there that day?! has anyone else had their tools rather LITERALLY pick them?
6/28/19;
i found a full set of runes at the thrift store i frequent?! i don’t divine with them, but i guess i own some runes now...
6/13/19;
whoop! busy week is over, now for some more mundane posts. in this one, i talk a bit about lucid dreaming and familiars.
5/24/19;
...uh, a very mundane post. life’s busy! but i figured sharing an update on my herbs and a quick... superstition? ehh?? that i use a lot might be a good thing to write down.
first, my herbs! they’re all coming up wonderfully!! my rosemary is already fragrant which is insane, lol... i’m so glad that everything’s going good with them -w-’’
secondly, something i’ve always done [note: i have good visualization] when i’m suffering more mild bouts of intrusive thoughts, or just generally negative thoughts, is to visualize them as the physical words [think wordart from old screensavers] and “clap” my hands over them, to explode them into puffs of colored smoke, or “shoo” / “slap” them away, metaphorically. sometimes accompanied with a frustrated “begone!” or “get out of here!”. while not really a spell in it’s own right, it is generally helpful for me and maybe for anyone else who reads this?
Some weeks are harder than others. The energies are pretty intense right now, and a lot of us are purging what we no longer align with. It’s tiring, it’s frustrating, but this process lets us decide what we want more of and what we want to let go.
🌖
If you’re like me, and that dark cloud of depression stops by for a visit now and then, the “bright side” of anything seems like an outright lie. When the storm passes we can see the sunshine again, but until the storms ready to pass we have to be strong for ourselves.
🌖
To weather the storm, focus on the small things around you. Not your future plans for life, not your past mistakes and accomplishments - just right now. See the little plants and little bugs, every one with a purpose and place in the world, just like you. Nothing is permanent - everything is subject to change, especially our state of mind.
✨ pages are updated ✨
just as a reminder, these “pages” are google docs since tumblr kept breaking my links when there were too many on one tumblr page. all of the links within the google docs link back to my own tumblr blog since I know those links won’t be broken (as opposed to OP deleting their blog or changing their name and causing dead links). my pages on tumblr still exist but are no longer updated.
