Warnings: Soft Colson Baker, EMOTIONAL COLSON BAKER, FLUFFY FLUF, May or may not rot your teeth
I wake up in the middle of the night and turn over. I panic when I realize Colson isn’t next to me. I walk down the hallway and stop when I hear Colson talking to someone. “And your mommy jumped like 10 feet in air when that Clown touched her shoulder.” He laughed. God his laugh is the cutest thing in the world. I walk in to door way and see Colson talking to our daughter. “She gets scared so easy. It’s cute though. She gets jumpy over everything.” I laugh to myself. “You get those big beautiful eyes from her.” He says more to himself. He sits there in silence, looking into her eyes. He realizes his eyes starting to get teary. He had never been one to settle down with someone. He never thought he’d have another kid. Yet here he is, sitting in a nursery with his baby girl. “I promise, I will be better for you and mommy and Casie.” My eyes start tearing up. “You have no idea how much I love you, little girl.”
Colson has been trying to be better for his family. He’s older now and he’s decided that it’s time to step up and be there for his daughters and his fiancé. He had proposed while we were out on date night. The night I also told him I was pregnant. He was over the moon when he heard the news. “A fresh start.” He said. “I know I’m not the perfect dad. But I’m trying. I want to be better. I don’t want to loose you or mommy.” He strokes her face. He softly pinches her cheek and she giggles. He smiles. He will never get over the sound of his baby girl laughing. He melts when she looks him in the eyes and smiles.
“Colson.” I whisper. He looks at me, tears threatening to fall. “Colson, what’s wrong?” I ask as I sit next to him on the small love seat in the nursery. “Nothing is wrong. Everything is perfect. I don’t want to mess this up for us.” I smiled at him and kissed his cheek. “You wont, baby.” I told him. He smiles and gently sets the baby back in crib, pulling her baby blanket over her tiny body. “I love you so much baby girl.” He tells her. We walk back to the bedroom and get in bed. I lay my head on his chest and he rubs my back. “I love you.” He says groggily. “I love you too.”
