Happy first night of Hanukkah!
People saying that Bella Swan was weak and without autonomy are falling into a misogynistic narrative that isn’t actually in the books. There’s a lot of problems with twilight but that isn’t one - Bella is strong willed as fuck, some of y’all clearly read a different book.
So like... because her boyfriend and best friend tried to control her, SHE didn’t have any autonomy? She made her own (mostly stupid) choices time and time again and she fought back when they tried to order her about. She was NOT a weak character and reducing a female character down to what the men around her TRIED to make her be is misogynistic and absurd. Bella was anything but passive, she fought to get her dumb bitch energy off the charts. This is Bella the dumb ass erasure

men aren’t allowed to comment on my appearance except for the barista at the starbucks on walnut street who just said my outfit is really pretty because he’s right
One of my favorite pieces from the upcoming @enormoustinyart show! Excited to share the rest in this series of tiny tea kettle homes ❤️
Death of the author: Treating the author’s stated interpretation of their own work as merely one opinion among many, rather than the authoritative Word of God.
Disappearance of the author: Treating the context and circumstances of the work’s authorship as entirely irrelevant with respect to its interpretation, as though the work had popped into existence fully formed just moments ago.
Taxidermy of the author: Working backwards from a particular interpretation of the work to draw conclusions about what the context and circumstances of its authorship must have been.
Undeath of the author: Holding the author personally responsible for every possible reading of their work, even ones they could not reasonably have anticipated at the time of its authorship.
Frankenstein’s Monster of the author: Drawing conclusions about authorial intent based on elements that are present only in subsequent adaptations by other authors.
Weekend at Bernie’s of the author: Insisting that the author would personally endorse your interpretation of the work if they happened to be present.
Execution of the Author: when a work has had a profound impact on many people for the positive, but well after its cultural zeitgeist, it’s discovered that the author is/was a giant and relentless douchecanoe, and as such the fans who were profoundly impacted by the work keep their positive experiences while treating the author like nuclear waste.
Graverobbery of the Author: As above, with the added bonus of the author actually being dead and thus taking the impactful parts of the Author’s works and interpreting it in ways they would have hated, because what are they gonna do, haunt me?
Execution of the author seems painfully pertinent given recent, turf-y and racist uncoverings of a certain author. How very Slytherin of her.
he/him in a girl way and she/her in a boy way
this just feels right to put here.
piece a shit
me, reaching into my dresser drawer for black pants: I hope this isn’t the pair with big holes worn in the inner thighs
Marie Kondo, gently over my shoulder: why is a pair of pants you find unwearable still in your dresser drawer
me: oh shit that’s right!! The dresser is for clothes that under some circumstance I might conceivably wear!!
Marie Kondo, beaming proudly: Yes, that’s correct!! These pants must have been your favorites. How wonderful that they were so comfortable and practical that you wore them out. But now since they no longer function as pants, you should move them from the drawer where you keep your functioning pants!
me: Yes thanks I got it they’re in the fabric basket now
Marie Kondo, fading back into the darkness: I love what you’ve done with the kitchen!!
The notion of KonMari as some creepy semi-embodied but entirely benevolent spirit, like a well-intentioned Bloody Mary, is so perfect and wonderful.
Marie Kondo has the same powers but the exact opposite energy of the Duolingo Owl.
YES.
Marie Kondo: Your room isn’t very clean, but that’s okay, I love mess! Does this spark joy?
Duolingo Owl: I wrote the ransom note in Spanish, and if you have to use Google Translate to read it, your kid gets it. You broke your streak. I’ll break your neck.
Marie Kondo holding your child, while standing on the remains of the Duolingo Owl : The Bird did not spark joy
Aliens are the least of our worries right now but listen to me. Aliens don’t want to hurt us but the government is gonna convince us they do and incite worldwide panic and start a real space war to avoid advancing technology for the general population because efficient non oil based energy that the aliens have will crush the capitalist industries that need it to thrive welcome to my ted talk
