@aeternabilis
@granstandâ asked:Â "Huh? Did I just imagine that? Strange. It felt so real..." Well, he did manage to save a kitten and kid from getting crushed by a falling tree...at the cost of getting partially crushed? At least he thinks that what he envisioned? He saw them and the tree threatening to fall on them. Deja Vu? He raced to save them, yet this time rolled so that he avoided getting crushed. Its like having a reset button almost!
シďž*. UNPROMPTED ASK. â ALWAYS ACCEPTING.
ARIA was never one to actively lend a hand to others without merit but when the sight of an idiot nearly being crushed by a tree came in her peripheral, she just knew she couldnât leave this fool to such an unseemly death.
She had immediately cast a rewinding time spell on the falling tree and sent it several moments before it had actually managed to crush the boy. It was more than enough time for his reflexes to kick in and roll away when the tree finally did slam the ground. She sighed in relief when he managed to get out of this safe and sound ... well, not that she particularly cared for his well-being or anything. He was a complete stranger for one and all it was that sheâd rather not witness his death before it was too late. It was always so sickening to be audience to such a gruesome sight after all.Â
Regardless of how her decision was rather in the spur-of-the-moment, she had already concluded that it wouldnât do any good for her to having done that for no compensation. So of course, she ultimately ended up showing herself before him ( she could tell that he was rather baffled by what just happened but then again, it was to be expected â no one would ever think that time flickered before their eyes after all ).Â
â ... Talk about reckless. You were lucky that I happened to be there to save you from such a unsightly fate. Youâd already be mangled under the tree by now so how fortunate for you, hmm ? Youâre not suffering from any other injuries, are you ? â He seemed like he was fine at the very least ( so was the child and the kitten ) but here was hoping theyâd be able to discuss how he would repay his debt to her. Though, she had a feeling that she would need to explain herself first but at least he seemed like the type that would be easy to get through.
WHAT ARE YOU?
you are hollow.
your ribs are gone, hallowed and dusted. im terribly sorry for your loss. maybe one day you'll find your heart again. i surely hope you do, because it really is a comfort to hear the rush of your blood after it's long absence. you might think that rocks and twigs, bound and stitched together can replace your pieces, but the only thing that actually will is your own pieces, or ones borrowed from others (with their permission, of course)

âAria...â He didnât seem to be talking to her at first, but simply saying her name. It came off as a wonderful tone slipped from his tongue, and the bounty hunter couldnât help but feel himself smile after saying her very name.Â
He knew she was there though. He could feel her gaze upon him when he had laughed a gentle kind of laughter.Â
âAria... I think youâre beautiful, Aria. Before you say âI canât seeâ, I would like you to know that I donât have to see you in order to know that you are.â As cheesy as it sounded, the swordsman had found himself falling for the very woman that has stayed by his side.Â
Even though she had said their time with one another would inevitably end... he couldnât help but hang onto that thread of hope.Â
His hand had found her own. Even when sheâs hesitating, he would take it. Placing his other over top of it, eyes closed while smiling warmly. Even if the thought of separating from her would bring him grief, there had been no other that would have him feel the way she has him feel.Â
His lips brushing against her knuckle in a tender graze.Â
âThank you for giving me strength, Aria.âÂ
He sees her, and she KNOWS that heâs around, on the count of the static prickling the air. His smirk widening, eyeing the âprizeâ that ever so graciously stood before him. Oh, how irresponsible for the swordsman to leave such a lovely little thing like her here.Â
âMy favorite little hour glass~ I bet youâre wondering what I find so appealing about you, aside from the promising use you have to me.â A chuckle, and he grasps her chin, forcing her to look at him while his teeth flash sharply.Â
âI love this little game weâre playing, but I think what I find that I like more about you, is...â
He leans forward. His voice hushed, but holding just as much power as a rolling thunderstorm. He knows, he is in control.Â
â...That the fear you feel brings out such a lovely color in your eyes. Especially that one there...â His voice trails upon acknowledging her one eye. The one with the roman numerals circling around its inner iris.Â

PERHAPS she may have merely been stating the obvious from what sheâd observed so far ( it was easy to tell that he was the sort of kind fool who would aid anyone without a second thought ) but it had always been a concept that was always so baffling to her. Although she understood the reasons, she could never truly empathize with the idea of being giving your own heart out to the world. Had he never been afraid of the possibility of his own ideals betraying him when he needed it the most ? Maybe he hadnât ever consider it because he never truly lost anything. She however, couldnât ever imagine it. If she herself were to give kindness then she would do it for the sake of merit. There was no reason why she would freely give away an act so cherished without taking something in return. After all, she had everything taken from her since the very beginning ... No, perhaps it was more accurate to say that she never had anything in the first place.Â
â Without kindness, we donât have much hope to work with ...â huh ? The phrase had echoed in her mind as she thought about his words. Humans truly were beings that couldnât survive without hope to lean onto but like as humans, the vast majority of them would never even think about the reason why they were able to live on with hope. After all, there was no need to think about it when they had people around them that they could rely on when times were hard; people that they called family so as they stood with them, they didnât have to worry about anything. However, what sort of hope was there for someone who didnât have anything ? They only lived on, desperately seeking for a purpose to live but to no avail. Thatâs why the slightest act of kindness meant little to Aria; it never did anything for her â it never changed anything. That was why she could never truly comprehend what Blue Bird felt as he lived on to be kind.
â ... Hah. Itâs only people like you that would think of it as selfish but there are many who wouldnât even consider what kindness can do for others. Your desire to aid the pitiful is foolish and even arrogant to an extent but in the end, there would be many who could never be saved if it werenât for people like you. You must be blessed with loved ones that were able to teach you the importance of a kind heart ... It makes it clear that you and I truly live in different worlds. âÂ
glorytoclorinâ.
The night had crept slower than a slug, it seemed. The presence of the other next to him kept him mentally awake, even while his breath had slowed and his eyes closed. Perhaps it was because he and her had such an interesting encounter with each other, that the bounty hunter couldnât help but feel connected to her, in a way. The sound of her voice, although heavily guarded, was heard with a tone of understanding pointedness.Â
With every breath she drew, he felt as if he were paying attention to it. Even so, his thoughts and attention bled into sleep at long last. They will move forward to figure out where he may take her. He, despite being told not to, believes in the both of them.Â
Even before the morning sun had casts its rays through the windows, Blue Bird had already shuffled out of bed. Careful enough to prevent Aria from waking, of course. It wasnât time just yet to stir her, but he needed to get them both ready for the long day ahead of them. Traveling from here to the grasslands of the fae was going to take a while, so itâs best to be prepared ahead of time.Â
Once he had toed his boots on, wool shirt now finally over him, he takes a minute to stand there and listen. Her breathing is still very much relaxed, and yet it reminds him of what she had mentioned before they both drift into dream land.Â
Thereâs no need for you to endanger your life for someone like me.Â
Ah⌠her concern is held in his chest as he would a letter devoted to a sacred temple. Even though he is a bounty hunter, a person KNOWN to thrust themselves into the line of danger, the way she emphasized it- it has been a WHILE since anyone had said that to himâŚÂ
Shaking off the distraction in his head, the bounty hunter began the morning by setting up a Skitter for the both of them to ride on when the wastelands get too raggedy. Plus, it would give them both speed and quick stealth to hide if they ever did need to back into a corner to remain undetected by the demon.Â
Once that was set up, Blue Bird returned to the building and heard Aria stirring in her sleep. A smile on his face, the hunter had already settled a plate of freshly warmed bread (made by the baker he had passed by) coupled with some fruits and a wooden cup of juice that tasted pleasantly like mango.Â
âItâs not fancy food, but this should get you started for the day. Come, we will stop by the market and pick up water and food before leaving. I got ourselves a desert skitter, so we wonât have to walk the whole length on our own feet.âÂ
In reality, he was actually pretty excited. His mood uplifting, for some reason, once he had returned to her. Pale grey eyes fixated downward, his hands working on tightening the leather along the hilt of his sword.Â
âI hope you slept well, by the way. If you DO end up getting sleepy while on the skitter, you can always lay your head on my back.â He brings up with a gentle chuckle. ââŚbut I think you will enjoy the sights while weâre traveling. Some things you wonât see anywhere else.â
Does he look giddy? Yes, he does- but he at least tries to maintain himself so that way he doesnât unknowingly tie the knot wrong around the end of his sword.Â
   A DREAMLESS NIGHT . . .
No, that wasnât right. There were tears in her eyes ... which meant that she had that dream again. It was the same, reoccurring dream that had followed her for as long as wandered. When did it begin, she wondered. Every single time, she awoke to the same field of white flowers, the sight was ever so breathtaking but yet so heartrending. Before her eyes, there stood a lone girl in a white dress in front of her; one who looked just like her but the only difference was that she didnât bear the mark of the curse as Aria did. No matter how many times Aria had this dream, the girl was sobbing her heart out, begging for someone â anyone to save her ( what was salvation ? ). Aria could only stand there, helpless and apathetic to her pain but despite that, the girl would inevitably turn to Aria with the same words at the end of every dream, â please save me. â Was this girl the materialization of the witchâs broken soul crying out for help ? She could never find the answer to that ... no rather, she was always afraid to find out the truth. For some reason though, it felt like she heard something else this time. What was it ... ? Before she knew it, she slowly found herself stirring awake from her slumber as the scent of bread and fruit wafted through the air.Â
She was already struggling to awaken as she quickly became accustomed to the appetizing smells but for some reason, Blue Birdâs voice, greeting her first thing in the morning was more than enough to wake her up ( when was the last time anyoneâs woken her up ? ). She laid there for a good minute or two before she finally mustered the willpower to sit herself up. Come to think of it, how long had it been since she was able to sleep so peacefully ? She had slept surprisingly well this time around. Was it because she was at peace with knowing that someone was at her side ?Â
â ... Oh, right. I didnât tell you yet. â She mumbled as she got herself out of bed with a yawn. â I donât need to eat so you can save that for yourself ... â Mirror ... ah, over there. She went to fetch her comb ( as well as a few other items ) from her bag so she could begin straightening her hair out from the all the bed head. â Mm ... Skitter ? â Was that some sort of mount or something ? Well, whatever it was, she would at least be at ease knowing that they didnât have to walk the whole way. â ... I suppose I could take you up on your offer then. Iâm not really interested in sights so Iâd much rather just sleep. Iâm not used to waking up this early anyways ... â What was there to see when she was going to leave soon ? Well, she supposed she didnât mind the idea too much â so as long as she wasnât in the mood for a nap.
â ... That aside, you seem quite excited for this trip. Donât you go travelling all the time ? Iâm surprised you can have this much energy this early in the morning ... â She yawned again. Jeez. When was the last time she was this relaxed in the morning ? She swore that she could fall asleep standing up but they had places to go. â Anyways, Iâm going to go wash my face. Iâll be out in a second. â And with that, she headed into the washroom to do just that ... plus fix up her appearance a bit more then spray herself down with some lavender perfume as the finishing touch. She approximately took around five minutes to do all that before she came out to gather her stuff.Â
   â So, are you ready ? â Â
glorytoclorinâ.
Oh, so she didnât want to find them? Well, what if she stumbled upon them by accident, then what would they do? Hmm, curious, curious. Blue Bird tapped his chin while thinking.
Even if he knew it was dumb, he would still swing his sword at bee dragons if it called for him protecting Aria.
âHmm⌠Well, we canât entirely avoid them since Bee Dragons live primarily in plains- which is what Clorin is full of. I have done it once before, and iâm confident that I can do it again if we have no real choice, Aria. Besides, iâm your technical body guard. Thereâs no bee dragon nor insect that will get through my blade towards you.âÂ
â ... SO, theyâre as common as regular honeybees, huh ? â Well, so much for hoping to avoid them. â Before anything, you should worry about yourself first. Youâre the one thatâs going to have a hell of a time if they end up stinging you and thatâll be more than enough trouble for me. â She understood well that he wanted to be her valiant white knight but he needed to make it a habit to think before he acted. Well, she supposed that sheâd take that role for him since he was an impulsive idiot.Â
glorytoclorinâ.
âOh, you havenât seen those before, either, Aria? From what I remember, they are black, orange, and yellow. Their bodies are quite long, and unlike your normal typical âbeeâ, they have quite an aggressive attitude. Also, they can fit in the palm of your hand, too.âÂ
He pauses for a moment.Â
ââŚPlease donât tell me you want to go find them? I mean, I can obviously âfightâ a bee dragon, but a hundred of them at a time would take an entire day.âÂ
SERIOUSLY, why the hell did these creatures exist ? For what purpose could they possibly serve in this world ? Just even thinking about the possibility of encountering a bee dragon gave her the chills.
â No. Absolutely not. I donât even know what gave you the idea that I want to find one in the first place. Do you really think that I want an insect, the size of my palm to cross our paths ? Iâd rather die than anything. Why on earth would you willingly fight one as opposed to running ? Youâll only attract their comrades that way. â
glorytoclorinâ.
Out of all things she had pointed out to him since he had led her from the library to his temporary room, it had to be the way he undressed? Wasnât she the one that was asking about his virginity, and how many women he had taken to bed? Interesting, although his response was only a mere âsnortâ when he had leaned  back a little more. Making sure he gave a good stretch to become more relaxed on the bed. There was hardly enough space to work with now that they both were occupying each otherâs personal space, but Blue Bird Remained with his eyes closed for the moment.
A steady exhale.
âYouâre right. I have taken my vision for granted. I forgot what it was like to look at someone and know what itâs like to feel being looked at back. I miss it, but I know I have found a way since then. It doesnât mean that I wonât ever wonder what colors look like, but it makes me content that I remember them. The sky, for example.â A pleased sigh. The sky was always such a lovely, clear blue. His favorite color, non-surprisingly.
Then, the conversation drifts into her favor. The points she HAS brought up, but yet, she does not find favor enough to go into detail with. Itâs saddening, to feel like a person has felt this way for so long. Blue Bird hums gently, his head turning so his grayed eyes would cast into her direction.Â
âWell, for one thing, that means that we will be traveling with one another until the time is right for us to split apart. I doubt that we may not gain something from this mission of yours, but I can guarantee you that my body will prevent any harm to come your way.â A gentle smile, this time. Even for being so lost⌠he had seen something in her, metaphorically speaking, that brings him at ease.Â
That, in a way, they both felt the same pain. Just at a different perspective.Â
ââŚWe should rest soon. Weâll have to wake up early in order to pick out food, and then we may travel to the land of misted grass. From there⌠well, weâll let the journey speak for itself.âÂ
With a soft âthumpâ of his head on the pillow, Blue bird closed his eyes.Â
âYou will make it, Aria. Just as I will, too. That, I believe.âÂ
FOR a moment she found herself imagining how even more miserable she would be if she ended up losing her sight as he did. Though she knew such an injury was impossible ( her magic wouldnât allow even a single scar to be left behind ), she concluded that she wouldnât be able to at all move forward with the same resolve as he did. After all, she had no one to turn to, no place she could call home so she would surely lose herself to despair before anything could happen. Who knows, perhaps she would subject herself to something as foolish as eternal sleep if possible ... Ah. Why hadnât she thought of that before ? Perhaps once she had grown completely weary of walking, she would surrender herself to that fate. How nice the thought was, to be able to confine yourself in a sweet dream.Â
â ... â As long as thereâs a blue sky waiting for you then youâll always be able to look forward to a new day â, huh ? â She mindlessly echoed the words of an acquaintance as she thought back to a distant memory. Come to think of it, that person had probably long forgotten about her for now but it wasnât like it mattered anymore. With the countless skies that would come to pass, memories would inevitably come to fade just the same. She found herself glancing over towards the Bounty Hunter as she noticed his smile from the corner of her eye. Truly, how she envied him for being human.Â
She then closed her eyes with a gentle sigh. â ... Well, your duty now is to protect me so I would hope so but, let me at least say this: thereâs no need for you to endanger your life for someone like me. â Perhaps in his eyes, it seemed as if she was speaking out of concern for his well-being but the reality was that any sacrifice made for her would be meaningless. She was immortal after all. She simply hired him to avoid the inconvenience named Athem but it wasnât as if she wished for Blue Bird to throw away his future over someone who had no ties to this world. Maybe it seemed presumptuous to assume he would go that far for her but even so, he was the type who would jump in front of a train to save a child after all. This was simply the least she could do to repay her debt to him.Â
â ... Right. â Well ... there was no meaning in thinking about this anymore. There was much to do in the morning so it was best to get some rest now. Besides, she was suddenly exhausted. It was better to stop thinking and succumb herself to sleep as she always did.Â
With his final words, she felt a tear run down her cheek before she drifted off to sleep.Â

glorytoclorinâ.
Oh, that STUNG. Even though Blue Bird had already accepted the fact that Aria was to return to âsomewhereâ (she never really mentioned WHERE exactly- somewhere he wouldnât be able to follow) he knew that deep within, it hurt. Why did it? He wasnât close with her, but at the same time, he was drawn in. He liked her company. She willingly commissioned him for his aid, a user of magic, AND someone who would talk to him while on his travels.Â
Had he had a travel companion before? Yes. Were they as memorable as her? No. The sound of her voice, he had grown to like it. Jaw tightening, it was his turn to feel that jealousy again. It was rare, to feel this way, but the fact that it was coming from the lips of this dirty âmanâ made it all the more agitating.Â
With a hard SHOVE forward, the bounty hunter had kicked the otherâs feet down. He was close enough to feel where he was, and upon finding his blade, the man expertly poised the tip of the blade right at the other manâs chin.Â
For being blind, he sure knew where to push.Â
âI donât like the way you talk about her like that. I donât expect her to spill herself for me, but I know enough to not trust someoneâs words. What makes you think I would even fathom your words, Atlas?âÂ
ATLAS certainly didnât anticipate for the other to suddenly lose composure to the point where he would act upon it. Without expecting it of course, the demon ended up being knocked onto the ground and suddenly the tip of a blade was now poised at his chin. Surprise had initially struck his features but he couldnât help but laugh in retaliation as he found himself rather entertained by this predicament. Well ... no. It could hardly be called a predicament. This was quite the show, wasnât it ?Â
â Oof ... for someone thatâs blind, you sure know how to get around. Did I strike your nerves that much ? I donât believe Iâve called her anything distasteful ... I was only telling the truth as it is. What ? You didnât happen to fall for her, did you ? â Ah, that expression on Blue Birdâs face was so delicious. That look of spite and jealousy ... heâs witnessed it countless times but he could never tire of it. â ... Well, Iâm sure you can fathom it if you heard it from the witch herself but tell me, why would you even bother acting up for her sake when she isnât willing to open her heart to you ? Sheâll only be hurt by it in the end. â
glorytoclorinâ.
Old friends? Something about the way this âmanâ had told him as such made his skin crawl. An uneasy friendliness, and the bounty hunter could all but remain on edge from the hints that were dropped out of their mouth.Â
This guy knows her. So, she would know him. A potential past friend? A partner? A⌠lover, maybe? The stupid amount of jealousy bubbling just on the surface of Blue Birdâs skin settled, not allowing himself to become unhinged just because there was MUCH to assume from this man. For all he knows, he COULD be a friend- but even if he was⌠Blue Bird remained firm.Â
âAgain, her personal business stays between her and her commissioner. I donât rat or spill information once I seal the contract between her and myself.â Which they both HAD done before- but of course it wasnât as formal as he was making it out to be, being his current status, but his sword was still her shield.Â
âIâm Blue Bird. Bounty hunter and first rate swordsman.â Ex swordsman, but that did not need to be corrected. âMy job is to seek out missions, capture and investigate rogue and suspicious figures, and deliver artifacts around the region. People order my service to travel safely from suspicious folk.â Like HIM.Â
âNow⌠who ARE you?â Grey eyes narrowed in the direction of where Atlas was accommodating. âShe never mentioned a friend before, nor anyone else looking for her. That, and you said you SMELLED her on me. What is the deal with that?â Unless if heâs aâŚ.Â
â SO you two have a purely professional relationship then ? Even if that were the case, you seem awfully protective of her ... it makes me almost jealous. At the very least, youâve confirmed that sheâs with you. â Just by looking at the other, it was obvious that Blue Bird appeared to be a mercenary of some sort but that aside, he certainly didnât hide his hostility, huh ? How cold. At the very least, this fateful encounter would surely bring the demon to Aria once more at long last. Oh, how he had longed to see his pitiful and beautiful witch ...Â
â ... Oh, where are my manners ? Iâm Atlas ... a passing mercenary of a sort ? Do you really expect someone like her to openly talk about her past relations ? I doubt she even told you of all her lovers but that aside, we parted ways long ago. We did have quite the history together but alas, sheâs quite the wanderer. Before long, sheâll vanish before your eyes when sheâs done with you. â
