Elriel's most romantic scene is when, after saving her, Elain rose up on her toes and kissed Az on his cheek... I have to know what Az felt when she did that, because I won't be able to calm down Sarah...please?
You cite Azriel saying to give the necklace to anyone to suggest that Azriel had no particular desire for Gwyn to have the gift, but in doing so you ignore the structuring of the passage. Azriel goes to Clotho, to the library, with the direct intent of giving the necklace to Gwyn. It's only as he and Clotho converse, and Azriel's motivations come under some mild scrutiny, that he almost backtracks and says "give it to anyone". His thought process wasn't "ok well I'll just donate the gift to the priestesses, hey maybe Gwyn would like it". It was "I want to give Gwyn this necklace, my actions are being noted, ok I'll say just give it to anyone”.
Far from indicating a lack of care on Azriel's part, it actually suggests a degree of vulnerability, something about Azriel giving Gwyn the necklace, and being seen to give Gwyn the necklace, makes him feel vulnerable and defensive.
Thing is, I'm really not and I said as such. Azriel did tell Clotho to give it to Gwyn because she is the only one there that he knows and has acquainted himself with. What YOU'RE forgetting anon is thar Azriel said to Clotho to not tell her its from him and asked her to lie and say its from Rhys.
Again, Azriel leaving a gift anonymously and for literally anyone who would've liked it really isn't the gotcha you think it is nor does it help your case. Azriel didn't want Gwyn to know who it came from when Clotho asked if it was a gift. He dead ass asked her, "Does she need to know?"
If Azriel REALLY wanted that gift for Gwyn, he would've A. Given it to her himself or B. Told Clotho he was responsible and neither of those things happened.
No one said Azriel didn't care at all, but its a far cry from anything romantic. There's nothing between them outside of training.
You're such a liar holy shit. Azriel was never being seen giving Gwyn the necklace. Ever. That never happened. Gwyn hasn't worn that thing or talked about it.
That "vulnerability" is Azriel's degree of caring. It is not for Gwyn. Never was for Gwyn. Any feelings of such are from his thoughts and feelings for Elain. Whom he by the way, is always thinking of prior to either times mentioned. He shows the most emotions when its regarding rhe woman health cared for over 2 years. Gwyn is an after thought at best.
✨️That's strike two, anon. You lose again. ✨️
Ewriels need to remember that Cassian regrets throwing his gift away the minute he has done it. He wishes still for Nesta to have it, and he regrets his rash action in casting it into the river.
Azriel doesn't regret giving the gift to Gwyn. The thought of Gwyn receiving the gift pleases him, not only does he dwell on the thought of Gwyn receiving the gift with pleasure, it also gives him a sense of peace. It's something he dwells on as he drifts off to sleep, thinking about her smile and her eyes lighting up.
Cassian throws away Nesta's gift and regrets it. Ariel gives away Elain's gift and is pleased with it.
Ewriel's? What are you five?
You have this really dumb habit of comparing different situations as if that's helping your arguments.
Cassian threw it in the river because NESTA REJECTED IT. Had she not done that, she would still have the gift.
The difference you all seem to have amnesia for is that Elain didn't reject the gift, not really. She wanted it at first but because she's tied up with Lucien. She had to. Azriel had to. She wanted to keep it. Rhys got in the way of them both trying to keep the peace because unlike Nessian, he was technically giving someone else's mate a gift. THAT'S the difference hellooooo?
Again with forgetting context and details! Wow anon, I have to wonder how you managed to get this far with reading comprehension skills so low.
Azriel told Clotho to give it to Gwyn, say its from Rhys, give it to ANYONE, BUT JUST DON'T SAY IT CAME FROM HIM.
That is not someone who's "pleased with giving it to Gwyn".
He doesn't even consider your girl a friend and Gwyn isn't interested in him either more than proving a point to her teacher.
Pleasure?? Oh please Wrong again.
When Clotho says "She deserves something as beautiful as this. I thank you for the joy it shall bring her." THAT is what he's thinking about. He is thinking that he didn't fail at bringing someone joy because he was just with ELAIN and thanks to Rhys, Azriel thought he was incapable of such.
Azriel was happy he was right to pick that necklace out FOR ELAIN. You bunch being happy about Gwyn getting a secondhand necklace not even intended for her is hilarious. If anything Gwyn got a dumping gift.
You do realize that necklace never gets brought up in ACOSF after that right? That bc happens before the book even ends. So where is it? Gwyn never mentioned it to Nesta or Emerie. So where's the importance of it? Oh that's right, a whopping no where. We don't even know if Clotho ended up giving her the necklace for sure and even it she had it clearly wasn't worthy enough for SJM to bring up again whatsoever.
Stop changing the books to fit your narrative that's beneath even you.
Since you're so eager to compare the two.
If they do have anything in common its that both Cassian and Azriel wanted their first gifts out of sight.
Guess what happened with Cassian after that? He got her an even MORE meaningful gift with the music box and Nesta was overjoyed from that. So most likely we'll have a moment where Azriel gives Elain something that means even more to her than a necklace.
Thanks for playing the game and losing anon. ✨️
Comparing what TWO PEOPLE feel and how they react when they see each other or are together vs SHADOWS (MAGIC) WITH A PERSON and believing you discovered the author's big secret for the future because of that "interaction" is simply ridiculous.
And honestly, at this point, I'm really embarrassed that people still believe GA is "something" ... and that this "something" is only because of their hatred of Elain's character and the fact that they can't accept that Sarah decided to write that she and Az have romantic interest beyond a mating bond (supposedly sacred!!! Elain, what are you doing going in the opposite direction from Lucien and you, Az, Gwyn is right there and has been for much longer...🤡)
If you want to make comparisons about spark, music, etc., do it like all of Sarah's couples, WHERE THE CHARACTERS ARE REACTING NOT THE MAGIC, THE CHARACTER. Your comparisons with Az's shadows are just magic reacting to magic, just like Nesta's magic reacted, THERE IS NOTHING ROMANTIC ABOUT IT and that should tell you everything. But of course, you can't, because THERE ARE NO INTERACTIONS LIKE THAT BETWEEN THOSE TWO CHARACTERS BECAUSE NEITHER OF THEM IS ROMANTICALLY INTERESTED IN THE OTHER!!! I INVITE YOU TO RE-READ AZ AND ELAIN'S INTERACTIONS, BECAUSE THERE ARE AND YOU DON'T NEED A BC THAT MILLIONS OF PEOPLE HAVEN'T EVEN READ, IT'S IN THE MAIN BOOKS :)
Idk why it's so hard for people to accept that Elain killed the king of Hybern.
Nesta was unable to get up. Elain stepped in and stabbed the KOH in the neck. That is a killing blow, it's not like she stabbed his leg or hand.
THEN Nesta got up and sawed his head off.
Nesta sawing his head off is the equivalent of an enraged person stabbing a body 37 times. The body was dead at the first fatal stab. The rest of it was an act of violence/revenge/anger/hatred.
Nesta Kingslayer sounds ridiculous when the real kingslayer is Elain Archeron
It’s so funny to watch because we keep winning 🤭🤭🤭
This was me 17 hours ago:
Listen to elriels guys 🤭💫 there is no reason for us to create fake news like others
When you dehumanize Elain, you dehumanize other female characters in the story.
"Elain can't have Illyrian children something something reducing her only to her reproductive capabilities so therefore she can't be with Az, he should be with Gwyn she has pliant bones."
Y'all realize this ALSO reduces Gwyn to just her reproductive capabilities?
For a fandom that hates pregnancy tropes you sure do LOVE to reduce a woman down to her reproductive capabilities with your fave male.
can we please erase this fakin womb theory from the entire fandom? it's disgusting 🤡
I think that the validity of any ship or MMC/FMC in the ACOTAR world can be easily determined by their proximity to all the outstanding storylines that are currently available to us.
Story Connected
Koschei Elain
Vassa Elain
Dusk Court Azriel/Nesta/Rhys (Elain)
Truth Teller/Gwydion Azriel/Elain
Autumn Court Lucien/Elain/Helion/Eris/Az Gwyn, nameless GF
Mate bond (reject.) Elain/Lucien/Az
Mate bond (2nd?) Elain/Az
Eris Mor/Rhys/Beron Gwyn (unless he is her dad)
Valkyries Gwyn/Nesta/Emerie
Vallahan (unsure of storyline) Mor
Sight Elain
Midgard Nesta/Az/Rhys/Amren/Mor?
Hewn City Mor/Rhys/Feyre/Kier
The IC Rhys/Cass/Az/Mor/Amren, the Archerons
Illyria (unsure of storyline) The bat boys, Nesta/Emerie/Gwyn because of Blood Rite win
Band of Exiles Lucien/Vassa/Jurian/Elain via Lucien/Vassa
Dead Trove Nesta/Elain directly, IC indirectly
Lightsinger Possibly Gwyn
I am sure I am forgetting something, but it seems to me that Elain is connected to 87% of all storylines directly, and the rest indirectly
Gwyn is connected to about 5%
Lucien/Az are connected to about 40% and 70% respectively
Rhys and Feyre are directly and indirectly connected to 90%
Mor is connected to about 50%
So let's do the math: Elain leads via direct association with 90% of all storylines, supporting characters are Az and Lucien
Secondary characters Mor/Lucien/Vassa (more than half of storylines)
Overarching characters: Feyre, Rhys, the IC, Nesta
Tertiary characters: Eris, Helion, Tamlin?
Level 4: Emerie, Gwyn, Beron, LoA (both might be higher depending on storyline), Kier (might be higher)
Am I exaggerating Elain's importance?
Yes, you are biased
No, she is connected to all of these storylines and will be the FMC
It will be a multi POV with 5-8 equally divided storylines
Gwyn will be the FMC
No mention of the next FMC 🧐🧐🧐🧐
The scene where Azriel found out that Elain is a Seer is one of the biggest Elriel foreshadowing scenes.
It’s the way how sjm CHOSE to write this scene. The wording here is intentional. She had SO MANY options to write this scene.
Let’s look at some possible options how sjm could have written the scene:
Option 1:
—> Madja never says that a mate can find out whats wrong with Elain
—> She simply tells everyone to keep an eye on her until they eventually find out
—> Lucien is the one who finds out Elain is a seer
—> Not in the book
Option 2:
—> Madja never says that a mate can find out whats wrong with Elain
—> She simply tells everyone to keep an eye on her until they eventually find out
—> Azriel finds out Elain is a seer
—> Not in the book
Option 3:
—> Madja says a mate can find out what’s wrong with Elain
—> Lucien finds out Elain a seer
—> Not in the book
Option 4:
—> Madja says a mate can find out whats wrong with Elain
—> Azriel finds out Elain a seer
—> THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IN THE BOOK
Sjm could have easily emphasize the importance of a mating bond by having Lucien discover Elains seer powers after Madja states that a mate could figure out what’s wrong. That would have directly supported the idea that mates are always the right choice.
But instead sjm decided to write the exact opposite.
Madja says a mate can figure out what’s wrong and then it’s Azriel instead of Lucien who understands what’s happening with Elain.
That wasn’t a random writing choice.
IT. WAS. INTENTIONAL

Everybody including Rhys: Az can't move on from Mor. He's probably looking for a distraction in Elain. He should use a pleasure house.
Az, in a room full of Mor and Elain: *looks to Elain, moves towards her, greets her, helps her with domestic chores, makes her smile*
Az when she laughs: *randomly stops in the doorway to follow it, shares a charged glance with her after, brushes fingers with her in passing when she leaves*
Az when she's defenseless: *shadows leap to her defense, verbally protects her in rooms she doesn't exist in, gives her his most precious weapon to defend herself something that makes him PANIC if he's without it, goes on a suicide mission*
Az when he knows he can't have her: *stares at her headache powder for a YEAR straight, stays closer to exits because it's painful to watch her with someone else, punishes himself by taking long cold flights, can't sleep, moves HOUSES so he can avoid the unbearable pain, damns his centuries long competitive steak at snowball fights because he was too busy throwing rocks at Rhys for forbidding him, has sad eyes because of her, gets rid of the reminder that she rejected him right back because it was too painful*
Az when he's a workaholic and had an early morning the other day: *sits with her until 3 am to listen to her talk about plants and gardens, shows interest in her hobbies*
Az when she exists: *stutters, gets hard just by a neck touch, pleasures himself to the memory of her, thinks about pleasuring her, almost rolls his eyes back at the scent of her arousal, immediately thinks about going down on his knees for her, gets her a gift unique to her and her alone, questions his religion, fought his brother/high lord, went against his nature to not spy on her when he keeps tabs on everyone, finds every excuse to reach for her even tho he knows he doesn't deserve her despite his selfworth issues, stares out the townhouse windows towards her*
I don’t know but if my supposed “warrior princess, the first of her name, Autumn court parentage having, river nymph with bendy bones so she can give birth, savior of Illyria, the pegasi love her” next FMC was just continuously not mentioned by anyone anywhere, I’d probably just take the L and move on…
“Elain kept all of Lucien’s gifts, she secretly feels a pull towards him.”
I’m sorry, since when is an omission of information taken as a confirmation for something? Why would we the reader, who aren’t in Elain’s pov, hear if she kept or discarded his gifts? We only know she gave back the necklace because the focus of the BC was on the gift giving interaction. We do know Elain received a gift from Lucien in front of everyone, and we also know she would never reject it in front of everyone. When she returned the necklace, it was done privately, and since the BC wasn’t about Lucien, we have no idea if she also got rid of his gifts privately.
What we do know is that
1. She never got Lucien a gift
2. She has gotten Azriel gifts the past 2 solstices
3. Azriel kept Elain’s gift for a year and stared at it every night
So instead of daydreaming about how she sleeps with Lucien’s cloak (ew), stares at his pearls, or kept the gloves (which were a huge misunderstanding of Elain’s character as pointed out in the Feysand BC where they tell us Elain doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty), perhaps consider the points above instead
Why are all the Gwynriels so happy and adoring the bc, as if it was the end of the book? mind you, even after the bonus chapter, Az and Gwyneth didn't have a normal romantic interactions (even after something ✨️sparked✨️ in his chest) He didn’t even take her hand when she offered it, for example
It’s both amusing and exhausting that we have to explain such obvious things
I think the funniest thing about all of this is gwyn and azriel didn't touch even once in 700 pages of the book.
For Azriel who is offering his hand to Elain all the fucking time. The neck scene in the bonus chapter and all of it...it is an important arc for him. His hand being scarred and touch goes together.
So the fact that these people go so hard for Gwyn and Azriel when they didn't touch and they also make fun of Bryce and Azriel shippers...when at least bryce and azriel touched. It is like....at least they got that going for them. 🤪🤪🤪 (This is not a pro bryce az ship thing) But it is amusing how the ship soooooo fucking dead(bc bryce is mated to hunt and married and such) has much more stuff going for them than Gwyn and azriel....maybe this is why they get so triggered by it.
i’ve been saying- we know br/ceriel isn’t happening, but at least they have actual canon interactions to back themselves up instead of a couple lines of dialogue taken out of context and nothing else but headcanons and wishful thinking 😭
this is why i will always cheer on and support BAs whacking GAs 👏
lmao gwynriels are always at a disadvantage
So you’re telling me Azriel went out, picked up gifts for everyone, then went into a jewelry store and bought Elain a rose necklace. But he didn’t give it to her, he didn’t even plan to until he saw her that night, until she gave him his gift. And after that, he finally had the courage to give her the necklace he had bought for her?
So you’re telling me he buys her things simply because this is what he wants to do?
I'M CRYING
Az, you'll get your princess very soon, hold on a little longer dear
The way people still dont get it was going to be Azriel's 200th win....not 200 in a row.
😀😀😀😀
His 200th win in 500 years..... That means cassian and Rhys are like 150 win each at least so he is beating them HARD.
Making him losing even more important lol....Sarah could have said 178 - 189 - 192 or any random number. But 200th win....lost bc he was so upset over Elain.
Why are all the Gwynriels so happy and adoring the bc, as if it was the end of the book? mind you, even after the bonus chapter, Az and Gwyneth didn't have a normal romantic interactions (even after something ✨️sparked✨️ in his chest) He didn’t even take her hand when she offered it, for example

it’s so beautiful that all those hand touches were initiated by azriel himself. hands are his biggest insecurity. I really love thinking that after elain complimented him, he started touching her more, like here was more physical contact between them 🥹🥹
and lmao yes, the biggest Bryceriel haters are always Gwynriels, I swear. like, wdym another red-haired girl, who also happens to have a mate, has more chemistry with Az than our redhead does?
