AXEL EVERETT is THIRTY SEVEN years old. His blood status is PURE and he teaches DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS. On the dash he is portrayed by MICHIEL HUISMAN. He is TAKEN.
Axel Everett grew up running wild through the swamps of Louisiana. The Everett line was known to take part in slave trading in the 1700′s, and although they’re more secretive about it they’re all still incredibly racist and prejudice to this day. He comes from old money, and even older traditions. His parents always attempted to stress the importance of knowing what his blood status meant, so instead of sending him to Hogwarts for his education they sent him to Durmstrang, where they hoped he would become more malleable to their own agenda’s. Durmstrang was a place he hated even more than his own home, and his resentment towards his parents only grew and festered over the years as he was exposed to the dark arts. His life long goal had always been to become a dragon trainer, but it became apparent upon graduating that his real calling was to become an Auror. To put an end to the malicious activities he had witnessed first hand, to spite his parents for attempting to mold him into a monster. He lived for the action and for the danger that training brought. Love was a luxury he never allowed himself, love was a distraction to get into the way of his job.
Nothing felt as wonderful as overpowering dark wizards, and bringing them to justice. He was addicted to it, and he was damn good at his job. Life always had a funny way of working out though. Axel and his partner were assigned a mission that he didn’t know would put him out of the game for so long. They were betrayed, and chaos ensued. It ended with Axel waking up three weeks later, his right leg missing from his upper thigh down. The curse that took his leg still lingered in his nerve endings, disabling any prospect of a prosthetic until they could figure out exactly what had done this. With his partner missing and presumed dead, he had no real answers. Axel wasn’t one to give up though, so even though the ministry won’t allow him to return to work until he is completely cleared Dumbeldore offered him a position as the defense against the dark arts professor for this year at Hogwarts. It seemed to be the next best thing to returning to work after the accident, the only exception being that he has to take weekly visits to the Hospital Wing so they can continue their tests and treatments of his injuries.
With the threat of war pushing in at the castle doors Axel plans on holding nothing back within his classroom. Students need to be taught the realities of what is waiting for them, and how to defend themselves against it. He will be teaching them how to practice the techniques he’ll be teaching them, how to identify dark magic, or warning signs in a person that could tell you they’re a dark wizard. Axel doesn’t know how to sit back and relax, even while injured. The fact that he has to have weekly visits at the hospital wing makes him feel inadequate, as if no one trusts him to take care of himself. Of course that’s a foolish notion, but Axel’s pride was one of his biggest downfalls. Some find him unappraochable, intimidating even although he doesn’t believe that. He just believes himself to be more direct about his intentions, and doesn’t like to have his time wasted. Most young adults that show interest in becoming an Auror he’ll laugh at, unless they show true drive and ambition towards it.
