((A Long Overdue Message Under The Cut))

Gosh, hey gang!

So, as evidenced by my very long absence from this blog (and the discord...), things have been crazy in my personal life, and I have not had the energy to dedicate to this blog, especially as it previously stood. I do think fondly of my memories and tenure on this blog, but some of the beats for Hesper's story as they were to be told here have been thought on too much and changed. For the better, I think, since I'm going to try and migrate some of those very nebulous ideas to a different project entirely.

However, that leaves me in a few pickles with this server. First, the obvious: Hesper vanished? and then came back? and was still able to maintain tenure with BBA? That doesn't sit right with me, especially with the break-neck paced, high-stakes events that happen in the BBA'blr space. I have no idea how to reintroduce Hesper as the "BBA Harmacist" without it being very awkward. Secondly, with the ideas that I have now, it feels disingenuous to play this version of this character.

So after much thought on the matter, I unfortunately think the best way to proceed forwards is to close my Pokéblr accounts. From there, I can either pivot into a less active, less intense blog format, or just create an out of character blog for this new project so that y'all can follow along (and it stops rattling around in my head so loudly).

I'm sorry if anyone was hoping for an earnest, eventual return to this blog! I do still love Pokémon, I do still love writing, and I do still love sharing stories within a collaborative Pokémon world... the new blog will, hopefully, help illustrate just how I'd like to go forwards with that.

Hola, Gang!

I’m a pretty common sight for BBA Students, but I hear that people in on the Summer Intensive are a bit confused about who I am: I’m Roland, Ghost Type Specialist and Elite 4 member. I operate out of the Polar biome, sure, but I run around all over, and I don’t bite–despite what our dear Valedictorian might think. So feel free to ask me stuff!

Hot Litwick Cocoa: What's the spookiest ghost story you can think of?

Oh! I have a couple, actually. But before I proceed with this one, trigger warnings for pokémon death, spelunkaphobia/claustrophobia, and perhaps even pyrophobia. To accommodate these warnings, the story is below the read more!

You may be familiar with the concept of bird pokémon being sent down into mines to indicate air quality, no? General rule of thumb being that if miners could still hear birdsong, they were alright to keep working, and to take a hike if they couldn't? Well, people love pokémon, and as these minors had the soundtracks of their lives filled with birdsong, they couldn't help but adore their little companions. It's such now that in mines that even use the birdsong system, minors are pretty on top of their bird pokémons' health.

So needless to say, many people were heartbroken when a lucrative, well-worked mine in the Orre region struck a pocket of poisonous gas, but none moreso than the 13 miners closest to the strike. Each had their own bird pokémon, and none of them had quite enough in the way of healing items for them to make it out of the compromised parts of the mine. By the time they all were able to get to somewhere with more healing goods, their poor pokemon were past those healing methods.

A few years later, the company operating the mine attempted to have a survey party go down and check if that particular branch of the mine was still good to work. While it did seem that the gas had largely dissipated, they ran into another threat: a proverbial Moltres of light blue, lead-salt flames stalking in the blackdamp, aggressive to them as it noticed their presence. It was powerful enough, from the sounds of it, to scare off the survey party and cause a cave-in.

No-one has worked that mine since then, but families that live close by say that ghost type pokemon are much more active at night now, particularly in the summer.

... Well, I suppose that's more sad than spooky. Anyways! Please ask if you'd like to hear more. I pick up stories from my pokémon all the time. :)
