Black Panther in the new Civil War trailer: a three step summary
#step 1: shows up
#step 2: kicks bucky in the face
#step 3: flees from angry boyfriend
Putting my excitement about the first trailer into a picture had to wait a while. Even now, have just a 2 h doodle for “Civil War” - or does someone have a better title?
I watched Disney’s Hercules and this happened…
I need a Disney!TSoA AU that has an end like Hercules…. Achilles brings back Patroclus’ soul, becomes a true hero and thus a god, but decides to live a mortal life with Pat. And they live happily ever after. That’s all I need.
this is it, my greatest contribution to the internet
Does anyone else sometimes feel a deep and abiding sense of satisfaction at the fact that, simply by drawing breath and living our lives–existing as Jews, period–is sufficient enough to drive some of our sworn and self-proclaimed enemies into frothing fury? That the fact that we don’t even need to do anything beyond simply live, and the hate that these people feel is such that that simple fact of our existence drives them into fits of incoherent rage? That, indeed, as the saying goes, the best revenge is living well?
Sure, it fills me with fear and worry, too, that they’ll try to “correct” the fact of our existence, but having just looked over an avowed Nazi blog, and seeing the frothing hatred, the time spent wallowing in rage and anguish, proclaiming how much they hate every single one of us… and, yet, it was almost comical.
In many ways, we are the center of the existence of people like this. They wake up hating Jews. They spend their days discussing their hatred of Jews. They go to sleep each night, dreaming dreams of antisemitism. The fact of our existence consumes them, eating them whole, until there is nothing left of who and what they are. Jews define them–even if that definition is “hatred of”.
Meanwhile, all we have to do to reduce them to piles of incoherent bigotry is to simply breath and go on living, without a thought spared for them beyond the (justified) fear that they’ll try to kill us. The focus on the other party is, shall we say, decidedly asymmetrical (and in our favor, I’d say…).
I remember my dad telling me when I was little - “You’ve never lived until you’re told you’re going to die.” I never understood what he meant until years later I was watching some news interview and the man looked straight into the camera and said “The holocaust never happened, but even if it did, it’s a shame that they didn’t succeed. They needed to finish the job.” I stopped what I was doing and I felt so scared, so alone, for once in my life I could understand with perfect clarity my situation. People hate me. They hate my very existence, they want me dead, some of the biggest advocates of this live in my very own state. I’ve committed a terrible crime - I’m alive when I should be dead, and they want to finish the job. Why? What’s this vile thing I’m guilty of? Living. Literally. That’s it. The fact that I’m standing, talking to you now. The fact that I have the horrible confidence to look at the pains of my great grandmother, of most of my father’s side of the family tree, and still be able to say wow, Judaism is beautiful. I now know what he meant when he said that to me.
Sick of having the heterosexual lifestyle forced onto me like honestly no Janet your baby son is not a chick magnet he is not aware of the concept of sexuality nor is he made of magnetic materials I will not partake in this foolishness
I wondered if that was how forgiveness budded; not with the fanfare of epiphany, but with pain gathering its things, packing up, and slipping away unannounced in the middle of the night.

Why don't you like John green??
a myriad of reasons but mostly bc when someone posted that they thought he was creepy, instead of either (1) maybe keeping that in mind and reevaluating the way he interacts with his fan base or (2) ignoring it bc honestly he’s an adult and a best selling author and had like all the power in that situation, he got pissy and overly defensive and basically sent his fan base after the OP, all while totally ignoring the fact that girls are (a) taught to be hypersensitive to people doing anything that feels off or creepy in any way (because otherwise if something happens people will be like “well you should have known better”) and yet (b) simultaneously shamed if said person who creeps them out is popular, successful, conventionally attractive, and/or generally considered to be “such a nice guy.”
edit: here is a link to the post in question for those of you who didn’t see it when it was going around.
edit 2: and this is a pretty good post on why the whole thing was pretty messed up.
