Well that's just unfair...
Jake was exhausted, there was no two ways about it. He felt horrible leaving Eir behind so soon after the birth of their daughter, but his work had required that he spend a few weeks on Alfheim, and he had to do it. He had returned home a few days earlier than planned and though it was late, on the night of Thanksgiving, no less, he processed his work quickly and made his way home.
He snuck in quietly, he hadn’t been around the baby much, which killed him, but the last thing he wanted to do was wake her up and disturb her. He slid quietly into their bedroom, and was a bit disappointed that Eir wasn’t there, but he stopped before going out to find her to take in how big Jordis had gotten while he was gone. She was still beautiful, but she looked a little sturdier now, and Jake wasn’t quite so terrified at the prospect of holding her. “Hey Peanut,” he whispered, “I missed you, but I’m going to go find Mommy now, alright?” He laid his things down next to the bed and walked into the living room, where Eir was reading on the couch, “Excuse me, ma’am,” he said, standing behind her and throwing on a ridiculous voice, “I’m looking for a Mrs. Eir Hansen, do you know where I might find her?”
The last few weeks without Jake had been nearly unbearable for the Aesir. She was still a bit fragile from giving birth and his absence had just…affected her more than she could have ever thought. Not having any form of contact with her husband for so long had lead her to such worry that she’d physically grown weaker, fretting over what might have happened to him. Even if Alfheim was lovely and peaceful, he was still away on a different realm and that terrified her after what happened last time. Her saving grace was her daughter, who was growing stronger every day.
When she heard a voice behind her she whipped around in shock. Normally she would have heard someone enter the second the door opened but she’d been so out of it and absorbed in her reading he’d slipped right by. “J-Jake!” when she saw who it was her eyes immediately filled with tears and she rushed to him, jumping up and wrapping her arms and legs around him, kissing him as tears fell down her cheeks.”I missed you, oh Gods I missed you so much.”
He laughed and lifted her into his arms, breathing in the wonderfully familiar smell of her hair, “I missed you too. I could barely focus on anything I had to do while I was gone, thank the Gods the Light Elves not only like us, but that they understood why I was having such a hard time concentrating. It’s in the bedroom, but they gave us a bunch of stuff for the baby, I couldn’t figure out what all of it was, but I figured you’d know.”
He carried her over to the couch and collapsed onto it with her in his lap, “I don’t want to go on any field missions for awhile, I’m going to put in my request with SHIELD when I get back to the office, I missed you too much and the baby grew too much while I was gone, I can’t miss anything else.”
“Please, thank you, I’m so happy to hear that you won’t be leaving again,” she brushed away her tears and gave him a shaky laugh.”I just missed you so much, I couldn’t bring myself to do anything besides care for Jordis, I’m just so happy you’re back,” she put a hand to his cheek, kissing his forehead.”The Light Elves are a wonderful people, I’m glad they took good care of you and that they were so generous. I’ll look through everything later, but you’re the most important thing that arrived tonight.” Her arms wrapped around his neck and she rested her on his shoulder,”She is growing fast, she’s so strong and lovely, we couldn’t have asked for a better daughter. I’m glad she’ll get to see her father more now with your work out of the way.”
He held her close and felt himself starting to drift off, more comfortable and more at rest than he had been in weeks. "I couldn't believe how big she was, I almost didn't recognize her, she's beautiful, and she looks more like you every time I see her, she's stunning." He yawned and pulled her a little closer, "I talked to the Director, officially we haven't come back from Alfheim yet, which means I'm all yours until Monday."
Finally back from Alfheim, just going to lay here and enjoy Midgard for a bit.

Eir finally looked away, turning her eyes up to Jake and grabbing his hand,”Come here,” she whispered, pulling him down so that he was sitting next to her. She kissed him and put a hand to his cheek, resting her forehead against his for a moment,”She’s the most beautiful thing in the nine realms.”
He said and smiled, leaning against her, “I can’t believe we did this, she’s…wow.” Jake couldn’t even form a coherent sentence, he had so many thoughts rushing around in his head, he didn’t know what to do with himself. ”I forgot what a wonderful feeling this is…but it’s all coming back…there’s nothing in the world like this feeling, nothing at all.”
“Mhmm,” she hummed out, looking at their little bundle of joy with more love than she thought possible. It was all worth it. All of it, waiting so long to find her soul mate, the man she was meant to be with, before having children, all the pain she’d just gone through, it was all worth it. She rested her head against his shoulder, exhausted but happier than she’d ever been.”I love you, and I love her, more than all of the nine realms combined.”
“It’s perfect. Me and you, it was great, more than I could have ever dreamed of, but now…it’s like we’re a real family. We’ve got exactly what we need, you, me, the prettiest baby I’ve ever seen, and all the animals she could possibly hope to grow up around. Everything is better than I ever could have imagined. I love you both, so much.”
Eir smiled, thinking about saying ‘and maybe siblings along with the animals,’ but deciding not to, not just yet. One baby at a time…right?”I agree, I agree completely. Come on, hold your daughter,” she said softly, holding Jordis out to her father.
As Jake he had never really held a lot of babies, but his time with Forseti reminded him of how he was supposed to hold a newborn. He gently placed his hand under her head and held her close to his chest, "Hey sweetheart, it's nice to meet you, finally." He pressed his lips to the soft hair on top of her head, "I'm so glad to have you here."
Jake!....It's time!! @Agentjacobdhansen
Tears, now of joy, flowed out of her eyes and she chuckled, reaching out for her daughter,”She is perfect, completely perfect. Hey, sweetheart,” she whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to the tiny baby’s head. “Her name is Jordis. Jordis Ophelia Hansen,” she said quietly, unable to take her eyes off her new child.
He felt his own eyes flood with tears, a year ago he could never have imagined that this would have happened for him, and now he was married, he had a great wife and a beautiful baby girl, it couldn’t have been more perfect. ”She’s so pretty, look at her…I’m in love.”

She swallowed as her breathing finally began to regulate. He was right, she had gotten him through a lot, she’d been through more than most could dream and she’d managed, she could do this.”J-jake,” she whimpered out,”I-I’ll be okay, I p-promised..” With that another contraction hit and she bit down on her lip, a scream fighting its way out as she pushed, the pain finally easing as they heard a cry.
“I know, you’re going to be fine, everything is going to be perfect.” He was going to keep talking, but he heard the cry and everything in his head just stopped, he turned and looked over, she was perfect. She was tiny and pink and screaming, but she was perfect. He quickly kissed Eir’s forehead and cut the cord where the doctor’s told him to, “Eir…she’s perfect, she’s so beautiful, she looks just like you.”

Jake!....It's time!! @Agentjacobdhansen
The exhaustion and pain from it was getting to be too much. Her head rolled to the side, her eyes becoming dazed and glassy as she tried desperately to catch her breath. Damn those Elders, damn them for making her so terribly aware of pain. It hurt so much, she needed to push, but she found she could barely gather her breath.
It took Jake a few seconds to realize what was happening, and when he did he knelt down beside her and firmly, but gently whispered into her ear, “Eir, you’re doing great, and you’re almost done. I know it hurts, but remember, you’ve gotten me through so much, and you’re the strongest person I know, and I know you can do this, but you need to hold on for just a little bit longer, okay? I promise it’ll be done soon, but you’ve got to hold on for just a little bit longer, you can do this.”

She whimpered in pain, her eyes screwing shut again, and nodded slightly. Another round hit her and she choked on a scream as she pushed. She squeezed his hand, but tried her best to keep from shattering it, when it became too much she pulled away and gripped on to the rail of the bed, the metal buckling under her grip. The doctor called up to them that the baby was crowning, which was a relief, but the pain had tears rolling down her cheeks now.
He would never admit it, but her letting go of his hand was a relief, he was pretty sure he had lost circulation in it awhile ago, but he was in no place to complain right now. Somewhere in the back of his head, he remembered what crowning meant, part of him wanted to look, but the part of him that didn’t want to faint or throw up, stopped him. He felt less than useless right now, there really wasn’t anything he could do, but stay by her side and wait.

“Y-yea-AAAAH!” she half-screamed as the pain hit her when she wasn’t expecting it. The doctor told her to push and her body instantly obeyed, pushing as hard as she could until the contraction subsided. Her head flopped back, her hand was shaking in Jake’s grasp, which was a first. She had healer’s hands, very steady, if they were shaking you knew things were really bad. “I…don’t want to break your hand if I squeeze it too hard,” she mumbled, slightly dazed, but still concerned for him.
He winced, but didn’t let go, “It’s fine, I could never in a million years do what you’re doing, squeeze me as hard as you need to, babe.” He stroked her hair away from her forehead and rubbed her neck with his free hand, “You’re doing great, keep going, babe.”

She looked over to him and gave a small nod, swallowing hard as the need to push overtook her. The doctor entered then, an older man in his sixties with a kind face, and moved in front of her. “I won’t lie, I was hoping I could deliver my own child, but I suppose there are some things even I can’t do,” she joked, even as tears of pain gathered in her eyes. She’d never felt something like this before, she never got like this.
He smiled, “That’s alright babe, there’s nothing wrong with getting a little help.” He kissed the side of her head, “You’re doing great, she’s going to be here soon and everything’s going to be perfect.”
