About how much of AFAC would you say is prewritten/planned and how much is kind of improv?

It's all improv to some degree.

I have plans. I make them. But they're more loose guidelines and possibilities that I fall back on when I (or the askers) don't think of something better.

Nothing is ever set in stone until it's in the comic.

I have sketches and ideas of whole scenes. But I treat those like Fate or Angel seeing a possible future. It might happen. But the askers make new futures possible. Ones I can't see.

Here's one of the scenarios I've sketched out.

I can show it, because it's literally just the Bad End that Fate foresaw and beamed directly into Spamton's mind.

I've made at least one other alternative way this can play out. And I may possibly make more.

I do not expect either one of them to be how it happens in comic, because it never is.

weaponized incompetence is when your partner does chores shitty on purpose so that you stop asking them to do chores. learned helplessness is when you've experienced so much trauma that you've developed the mindset that you can't meaningfully change your situation and have become accordingly passive.

if your partner is exhibiting learned helplessness they aren't manipulating you, they're displaying a trauma response.

The main issue with The Dunk as a form of posting is that it

Is formatted to be as unconvincing to the nonbeliever as possible

Is formatted to encourage as little understanding of the actual topic as possible

Dunks are the ultimate form of twitter posting, they are meant to work in a sentence or two, and that requires you not to have any nuance and works better the less that you know. If you actually bother to read the article and not just the screenshot of a headline, you can't make your Epic Clapback. You'd know why the joke doesn't work.

And the rewards you reap for doing this—retweets, notes, likes—very much encourages you to not learn, not to write longer pieces, not to express complex thoughts or write anything that isn't convincing to anyone who doesn't already agree.

the next stage of this, of course, is what twitter has done over the last several years. engagement is no longer merely a little hit of heroin, engagement is directly monetized baby. Now not only can people be psychologically conditioned to dunk, but people and entities are financially incentivised to dunk, to not learn, to not express complex thoughts and so on.

People now make money off not just The Dunk, but in setting up the dunk as well! a financial ecosystem built on rage bait and cheap clapbacks.

Here in the great cosmic mistake we call western civilization, vast swaths of ppl are utterly convinced that terrible misfortune either only happened in the past or only happens in other places. This is an article of faith which supercedes the evidence of their own eyes and ears. I dunno what to do with these people. Trying to talk to them about current events that are currently eventing right in front of them is like trying to talk to a cartoon elf from a tv show for babies. They're like "[thing that was literally on the fucking news a day ago] could never, ever happen here in Happyland where bad things never happen, and talking about it makes me sad. Why do you want to make people sad? :( Nobody's sad in Happyland. :)"
