Why do you guys keep focusing on argentina and its racism, like yes we know our country has and has had a culture and history of a lot of racism, specially with the current political climate and it fucking sucks, i live that day to day and it sucks, but you keep talking as if your government hasnt done things in larger scale, and isnt doing genocides and cultural erasure all over the world, i just really dont get the focus on just argentina the past month like there is so many other countries that also do and did that
I think what makes these statements so wild is again, it's implying that I DON'T talk about other countries acts of antiblackness and white supremacy.
Y'all are arguing with a person that does this... Every day. I have been running a book club for the past half year discussing white supremacy, antiblackness, and violence and genocide in America (and for a time there, globally)... Every day.
I have fought with people on here and their antiblackness from around the world, white and nonwhite. I know plenty of Black people who have had to do this. Of nonblack allies who have joined us in this fight. Who discuss these things... Every day. We talk about the antiblackness of the Dominican Republic about Haiti, we talk about Cuba, we talk about so many things within my community that may or may not be about Latin America, y'all just don't see it because you aren't around us... Almost Every day.
The only reason we've been so focused on Argentina this week has been because the response to being told "wow we saw your fans call a Black American a nigger and a monkey on live TV during a WORLD VIEWED event, I wonder what sort of culture leads to that being such a comfortable act" has been the world's largest tantrum.
Because the idea that the person they were responding to might actually DISCUSS this, has BEEN discussing this for quite some time and therefore may have intentions that were not "singling out Argentina", just... Wasn't there? The idea that this Gringa Negra just... Didn't know shit about anything and therefore MUST be an ignorant threat that is UNFAIRLY attacking JUST ARGENTINA! Like really, this woulda blew over by now otherwise. But y'all keep acting like I specifically put belt to ass for y'all, like I don't put belt to ass for anybody antiblack. So now we're gonna do some more reading about it.
Argentina, you're not special. Just the bigots of the week (the MONTH if y'all keep this shit up).
THERES MORE TO WHITEWASHING THAN JUST SKIN COLOR THERES MORE TO WHITEWASHING THAN JUST SKIN COLOR THERES MORE TO WHITEWASHING THAN JUST SKIN COLOR THERES MORE TO WHITEWASHING THAN JUST SKIN COLORRRRRRRRRR
white people go like “is anyone going to redesign this nonhuman evil character as a poc?” and not wait for an answer
white people go “is anyone going to redesign this nonhuman good character as a white person?” and not wait for an answer
white people can rb but please do not clown
white people really cant give a shit abt anyone but themselves unless held at gunpoint or smth huh?
“what about the poor little white kids just trying to have fun?” what about the poor little kids of color made to feel unsafe and unwelcome in a space that was supposed to be fun?
“why can’t poc just make their own redesigns and we can keep these ones” why cant you realize that your actions have consequences and that you should maybe try to not enforce racist stereotypes??
like ofc its ideal to have VARIETY among both villains AND protagonists, its when your characters look like this
that the issue arises
scratch “can”, white people are encouraged to reblog
[Image description: 3 white stickmen labeled as "good guys" and 3 Brown stickmen labeled as "bad guys". End image description.]
Also the bad guys are usually like. Super buff and intimidating looking. Totally not lifted from real-life stereotypes that black people are predators or anything…
The never-ending cycle of saying that Black characters deserved to be in a better movie, series, book, game, etc.
Or that they just deserve writers and a fandom that care.
I don’t want to become used to the misogynoir and transphobia that black women (esp us with darker complexions) face every fucking day, I don’t want thicker skin, I just want it to end
People are so harsh on Black cinema, in this really bizarre way. It's almost like they're unnerved by all the casual Blackness they're seeing in these films, but they don't realize it or care to unpack why — so they hyperfocus on the TINIEST details at the expense of more relevant shit like plot or themes, OR they have these wild, reaching complaints that make zero sense to anyone who like. Watched the film normally. Because TELL ME how I just saw someone saying they wished I Love Boosters "had more fashion" in it. Like really. I Love Boosters. The film about fashion designers stealing clothes and making clothes and selling clothes and pulling heists at fashion shows and clothes stores? The film where they have different outfits in each new scene? That I Love Boosters?? THAT'S the movie that didn't have enough fucking fashion for you??!

I honestly really hate the "[insert country in Asia] is not racially diverse" excuse for antiblackness in Asia, esp in East Asia. I always see this excuse by content creators and commentators now that content about South Korea is exploding online.
I understand how living in racially homogenous areas can make people racially ignorant but that's ignoring how colorism is already a problem within Asian communities + how there are other racial minority groups that exist in Asia? Like, Black diaspora does exist in Asia?? And there is no need to infantilize non-Black Asian people becos learning and growth is possible? Infantilization will not help anyone 😒
people love to pretend rap is THE misogyny genre and that for some mysterious reason, it’s the ONLY genre defined by its misogyny. and, in fact, it’s PRAXIS to hate rap and never listen to it. how very interesting! i wonder what that reason could be! can any of YOU imagine what that reason may be? 🤔
people will call rap overstimulating and then listen to hyper pop
if you ever thought "wow i wish there was a game where you play as a cute black magical girl and everyone around her wants to kiss her so so so badly" then you should play Magical Warrior Diamond Heart

Hello! I'm a Black indie animation showrunner and I'm running a kickstarter for my Black Queer YA coming of age Magical girl witch story set in the 2010s midwest called The Three Tomes . Black teen witch girl must fight monsters , and falls for vampires. Was wondering if you could reblog this post to help spread the word for the kickstarter https://www.tumblr.com/thethreetomes/821434810565328896?source=share
It would be an honor! Please go support yall!
has anyone noticed the new meta for people being accused of bigotry (esp white people being accused of racism) is to claim they're receiving harassment (often with no proof just on a "trust me" level) so the whole conversation turns into how harassment is always wrong and bringing up the bigotry that sparked it will get you accused of lolcowing
THE PROBLEM WITH THE Y2K AESTHETIC
There’s no denying that the early and mid-2000s fashion is making a comeback in recent years. The era of fashion that people used to ridicule for its low rise jeans and bold fashion statements is now the inspiration for the new generation 20 years later. This isn’t new in the fashion world, this is described to be the “20-year rule” the concept that something popular now will be popular again in 20 years. So in 20 years’ time, studded platform boots and emoji leggings will make their comeback in 2040… or for our sakes don’t.
However, the Y2K aesthetic is not as accurately represented as one presumes. It seems like nowadays people watch Mean Girls, A Simple Life, and House Bunny once and think that’s all there is to Y2K fashion.
It’s no surprise that the aesthetic quickly became whitewashed with white people taking the pink, the rhinestone, the playboy, and mini skirts and said, “YUP that’s the 2000s!” when that’s far from the truth. The 2000s fashion is more than just Paris Hilton’s closet and I’ll tell you why.
Before we start it’s important to differentiate the different subsections of Y2K fashion.
There are the early 2000s (2000-2005) this is the era that most people are fond of as the style was still heavily influenced by the late 90s.
Then there are the mid-2000s (2005-2007), this is the era with the questionable fashion choices like dresses over jeans, skirts over jeans, think young Ashley Tisdale on the red carpet.
Last, there are the late 2000s (2007-2009) that most associate with the 2010s, this era is kind of a mixed bag, from 80s fashion inspiration to the boho “hipster” gossip girl fashion.
My problem with the Y2K aesthetic (take a shot every time I say that), is that people fail to acknowledge the heavy influence of black culture. Without Black Americans, the trends we have today would be nonexistent. Ever heard of Nike Air Forces? Thank Nelly and other black artists of that time for popularizing it. Bandanas, chunky jewelry, tracksuits, bucket hats, are just a FEW of the trends that black people created.
One big trend that is usually looked over is Logomania, which is the practice of wearing garments with designer logos all over them. Daniel Day, better known as Dapper Dan would illegally screenprint luxury brands logos all over his designs. Black artists of the 2000s are the REASON why high fashion couture is so mainstream now within streetwear.
Brands like: Apple Bottoms, Baby Phat, FUBU, etc, and fashion icons like Lil Kim, Beyonce, Megan Good, Christina Milian, etc are often overlooked and not appreciated as much as the white celebrities of the time. What makes the situation worse is that, when black girls now in 2020 take inspiration from the 2000s they are labeled as “ghetto and trashy” but non-black people do it, it’s “yes y2k queen!” There’s racism in the y2k community that needs to be addressed especially when black people are the main creators of the trends we wear.
To conclude, the next time you want to take inspiration from the early 2000s, try looking at other celebrities, specifically non-white ones for inspiration. Because, the world has passed the need for Paris Hilton (who’s racist by the way).
Sincerely,
Aminee
if u think poc talking about fandom racism is ruining ur fun and putting a strain on the community, I wish u a very shut the fuck up
I hate you epitome of innocence being represented with blonde hair I hate you lightness representing goodness I hate you "angelic features" automatically being read as blonde hair and blue eyed with pale skin I hate you whiteness as the default for morality I HATE YOU I HATE YOU
Guess who's being the most annoying on this post
this post isnt about blondes and how its so unfair to them that theyre always viewed as good healthy holy morally upright outstanding people no matter what this post is about racism its about colorism its about white supremacy making people with dark features and skin literally feel evil. this is not about your stupid disney princesses or achilles or your fave anime boys being allowed to be unhinged feral shitty awful people and this sure as hell is not an opportunity for blonde people themselves to show their entire pasty flat asses and beg praise for "breaking the stereotype" by being shitty unhinged people. fandom people you are 192% of the problem. white people in general you are 1,000% the origin of the problem. this site is so unbearably white my GOD
