“ SHARP as a tack + twice as pretty….
you don’t know about spies in this city…. ”
“I know many of you in this room blame me for what you see as prolonging your suffering. You say I’ve divided a city because I don’t accept your explanation, which is why we can’t move on from those two fateful days in July.”

nightmare starters
“Wake up! Wake up! It’s just a dream!” “What were you dreaming about…? You were shouting…” “I woke up because you were screaming so loudly.” “Shh– No, no, don’t panic, love. You’re safe now.” “It was so real! I swear! He/she was here!” “I don’t ever want to sleep again. What if– what if I dream about that again?” “If you tell me, it’ll go away. That’s what my mum/dad always told me and it’s never failed me.” “Do you want to go back to sleep, or shall I make you a cup of tea?” “I don’t want to go back to sleep…” “I’m so scared… I can’t stop seeing what I just saw. It was so vivid!” “There’s really nobody here, okay? Do you need me to show you around to prove that to you?” “How do I know I’m not still dreaming? You’re acting really strangely.” “Let’s get you to the shower, you’re covered in sweat.” “There’s really nobody else here.” “You’ve got a really bad fever. That must have caused those weird dreams.” “I don’t even know what a peaceful night’s sleep is like anymore.” “I can’t do this anymore. These nightmares have to stop…” “Shh, it was just a bad dream. Just a dream, okay? None of it was real.” “I can’t go back to sleep after that. I need coffee– no, I need a drink, a stiff one.” “How long have you been having these nightmares?” “I’ve had nightmares all my life, but they’ve been really bad recently.” “You get so worked up before you go to sleep, maybe you should try to relax a bit more. Maybe then you’ll get some rest?” “I’d kill for a peaceful night’s sleep.” “A dream catcher? Honestly? I’m not a child.” “Nothing’s ever helped this. I just need to learn to live with the fact that sleeping will always be a nightmare, literally.” “I’m so tired… but there’s no way I’m going back to sleep after that.”

Bill caressed her cheek lightly with his thumb, unable to keep from smiling. “Well maybe a little more than a notion” There was a soft hush to his words now, a secret trait of Bill that Kate had maybe seen once before. He didn’t pretend to ignore the mention of her injury. His brown furrowed and leaned forward to press a kiss to her forehead. “You know what I’m going to say now don’t you…” he replied with a teasing firmness to his tone.
“Alright, but consider this; I kiss you, you don’t file a report, and I don’t goto to medical. Everyone wins. Less paperwork for you...and I go home, take some paracetamol and call it a night. There’s little else they can do for these.” She smiles as he sets a more tender kiss on her brow. “Tell me what more than a notion means.” She wants to side-step the business of medical all together, the other topic is decidedly more interesting.
“Well I’ve got all the things to have just that at my flat.” He said with a gentle smile. Scrubbing a hand over his face, he fought the urge to yawn at her words. “Guess I just lost track of time. Seems to be an affliction around here.”
“Well, there’s civilian time, there’s Q branch time and then there’s whatever the hell we call time...which is...a very loosely debated to actually exist in the spy world short of these horrible things called deadlines.” She was more than pleased to keep him talking to get him home. “How about we take your car, I’ll drive so you can doze off? Traffic is likely non-existent now.”
He chuckled at the thought of Kate’s mother. “I bet your mother is quite a force.” Settling back on the sofa beside her, he watched her flip through the menus. “That’s one of my favorites. They know my order by heart now.”
“Oh god...the worst.” She says softly, laughing. Kate loved her mother dearly, it was clear, but she also toed the line between worlds. “You do not know the pressure of marriage and having children until you have traditional Hindu parents.” “Oh well then, that would make it easy. Is that alright with you then?” She’s already reaching for her mobile but not dialing until he gave an answer.
are you brave? the devil asked. no, she answered, but i am alive.

“Consider it? I’m sleeping now,” he said, his head drooping toward the steaming fried rice. It smelled amazing, and soon he was full, despite his exhaustion. “It’s only Thursday,” he muttered in dismay, mostly to himself. His job usually allowed him weekends off, but this week had been horribly draining and one more day sounded like torture.
“You ridiculous man.” She laughed softly before picking at the food in her carton, eating slowly. She wasn’t particularly hungry but the last she ate was hours ago in another time zone. “At least Friday is on the Horizon?” She offered. “We can sleep in Saturday, turn off our mobiles and pretend the world is gone outside our door?”
DARK, THRILLING, AND/OR CRIMINAL SENTENCE STARTERS. [PT1] [PT2]
“I’m scared.”
“Are you hurt?”
“Are you scared?”
“Is this even legal?”
“Just trust me.”
“We’re locked in!”
“I know what I’m doing.”
“It’s too dark in here.”
“Why are we here?”
“They have a gun…”
“They have a knife…”
“Grab what you need, and let’s go.”
“Be quiet. Don’t let them see you.”
“Choose your victim.”
“We don’t have to do this.”
“They’re coming for us.”
“How do you know how to do that?”
“What the fuck are you doing in here?”
“We’re getting out of here unseen.”
“Something moved over there.”
“Do you have the stuff?”
“So, what’s the plan?”
“It’s not safe here.”
“This is your fault.”
“We’ve gotta go. Now.”
“Hey, how drunk are you?”
“Hey, how high are you?”
“Is that… a dead body?”
“We’re not alone in here…”
“What do you need me to do?”
“It’s not safe here, you should go.”
“I can’t believe you stole that!”
“Hey, stay close to me. Got it?”
“If they catch us, we’re dead.”
“… There’s no signal out here.”
“Where’s the money you owe me?”
“Have you ever done this before?”
“Did you bring what I asked?”
“I saw you steal that…”
“I think I dropped my weapon.”
“This is the last time I ever do this.”
“Shit, the cops are coming!”
“Wait. I think I heard footsteps.”
“We shouldn’t be doing this.”
“The cops are looking for us.”
“What the fuck is that?!”
“You’re gonna get hurt.”
“Next time, I’ll kill you.”
“It’s my first time doing this.”
“You’re gonna get us caught.”
“You seriously got high without me?”
“You seriously got drunk without me?”
“I’m never doing this with you again.”
“How’d you get all this money?”
“What are you doing out here?”
“What if something goes wrong?”
“I have a bad feeling about this.”
“I’ve never gotten high before…”
“I’ve never gotten drunk before…”
“What the fuck did you do now?”
“Let’s go and do something bad.”
“Whatever it was, it wasn’t human.”
“So are we getting high, or what?”
“I’ll kill the asshole that did this to you.”
“It seems like you’ve done this before.”
“I have to be honest… this car is stolen.”
“What do you mean this isn’t your car?!”
“I shouldn’t have let you talk me into this.”
“What do you mean this isn’t your house?!”
“That’s… a lot of drugs you’ve got there.”
“Please tell me you brought a weapon with you.”
“We don’t have to do this, we can turn around.”
“How much time will they give us if we get caught?”
“Watch the door for me? I’ll be out in five minutes.”
“Maybe it’s the drugs, but I swear I heard someone…”
“This is literally the worst fucking time to hurt your leg!”
“Are you about to go do something illegal? Count me in.”
“The engine is dead and we’re in the middle of nowhere. Fucking great.”
We all had to do terrible things to survive back then. The difference is, you enjoyed them.
