ââ Life is cruel, huh? Pairing us together like this. ââ {the-weather-wizard} [you can totally ignore this. I just love soulmate memes]
BITTER SOULMATE PROMPTSthe-weather-wizard
âIt certainly has a twisted sense of irony,â Iris said looking down. Sheâd always looked forward to meeting her soulmate, she wasnât naive enough to think it would mean instant love but she did hold firm on the belief that they meant something and she was sure whatever complications if any would be easy to overcome. Clearly she was wrong. âI definitely never expected me âperfect matchâ to be someone who wants me dead.â
âSurprised seems like an overwhelming understatement,â Iris said looking anywhere but her soulmate. âWe might be as compatible as two people get according to our marks but circumstances clearly are not on our side,â she could only imagine her dadâs reaction. Or Barryâs. Or anyoneâs. She didnât see anyway a man who wanted her- or at the very least her father- dead could be the one for her. âI donât really know what weâre supposed to do with this information, youâre not going to stop wanting to hurt my dad and Iâm certainly not about to step aside and let you hurt him.â
Mark didnât know what to do with the new information either. According to the marks, they were supposed to be the perfect match. But he couldnât see how that was supposed to be true. Irisâs father had killed the only person Mark had in his life that he could actually care for. She couldnât be his soulmate. And yet⌠he no longer wanted her dead. The plan had been to kill Iris in front of Joe so that he could know the pain that Mark felt every day. He still loathed the woman standing in front of him, but he didnât want her dead. Maybe the idea of having someone else that he could grow to care for was weakening his resolve, but Mark didnât much care. âI suggest continuing on as usual? Try all you want to stop me. It wonât end well for any of us, least of all your father. Now⌠go home.â He needed time to redo his plans. He had to factor in the fact that Iris was supposed to be his soulmate.Â
âYouâre... letting me go?â Iris said not having expected that, soulmate or not. She eyed the other suspiciously, expecting a knife in the back or something else. âAnd for the record I will stop you,â she informed, eyes hard set and determined.
