Dam-building at the NSW Soil Conservation Service demonstration area at Commonwealth Bank AgQuip is proving popular, with a visit today from Channel 7's Better Homes and Gardens presenter, Johanna Griggs (left), and tomorrow from NSW Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Water, Niall Blair MLC. They are demonstrating the latest innovations in automated machine control to build a dam each day at the event, using a bulldozer and an excavator in tandem. Soil Conservation Service Senior Environmental Officer, Brett Hanly (pictured), says the machines follow a pre-programmed computer model, using GPS technology, to be very precise in moving dirt and directing water where it is needed. Dam building exhibitions run right across the day on Wednesday and Thursday at Commonwealth Bank AgQuip at Gunnedah. The event will be a major feature on the Better Homes and Gardens program in a few weeks time.
