Recently diagnosed with leukemia, his health is rapidly deteriorating due to the ongoing violence, famine, and lack of proper medical care in the region. Also this was our night because of the winter and the cold. The earth was our bed and the sky was my cover in this cold.
Also, the specter of death was looming on the horizon. An Israeli plane hit the tents and a number of neighbors died. Death seemed certain to overtake us at any moment.
