i think we should start openly mocking male creatives who can't figure out how to write women. like actually i think it's embarrassing that it took elliot page transitioning for christopher nolan to give him a good role. why did it take like ten years to get the first female lead in a marvel movie? why is it a Known Fact that stephen king can't write women? why is 50% of the population omitted from large ensemble works? i asked my friend to name a movie directed by a man with a majority female cast and he said ghostbusters 2016. ghostbusters. ghostbusters. g

Elliot Page also starred in Inception before transitioning, and from what I’ve heard is in The Odyssey for less than five minutes, so that’s a really weird example to use. Like, I don’t disagree with the overall point, but why is that the first example? Kind of feels more like criticizing Nolan for hiring a trans actor than actually being about men not able to write women.

Elliot Page is such a good example of how when trans men transition people automatically read privilege into their experiences—them specfically, in a way that singles them out among the sea of cis men they are surrounded with living their lives uncontroversially—when all evidence suggests they are actually experiencing the exact opposite of that. Elliot Page has gotten nothing but hate and scrutinity from the general public and the media and his career has taken some serious damage since coming out.

the thing about trans men is that they are, in fact, real people, and not simply walking metaphors whose real experiences of their actual lives can be bent in any direction one wants to illustrate how bad cis women have it.

everyone needs to love transfems who aren't women more. everyone needs to love transfems who are men more. everyone needs to love nonbinary people seen as male who aren't transfeminine more. everyone needs to love trans women who are gay men / attracted to men in a gay way more.

especially when they are fat. especially when they are Black or Native or Asian or any racial/ethnic group that isn't white. especially when they are tall and broad and have a deep voice and a beard, and especially when they like themselves that way and still are hurt by misgendering. especially when they have gone on E and T blockers and have gotten facial feminization and vaginoplasty and have DD tits and like themselves that way and still are hurt by misgendering (even when people think they should be grateful for it, even when it feels like the lesser of two evils). especially when they transition in ways people see as "only halfway" and dress androgynous and use contradictory labels and call themselves femboys in the same breathe they do tgirls and they like themselves clockable as fuck and still are hurt by transphobia and exorsexism.

do you have any idea how many beautiful wonderful nonbinary/genderqueer/gender nonconforming people this world is missing out on because the only options people let them have are "binary trans woman" or "fully cis man"? like how many times have I seen people acting like one's options are "gay man OR trans woman" or that its "femboys (who have NO idea what its like to be trans) vs trans girls (who NEVER identify as femboys)" with zero room made for anyone whose identity even slightly complicates these binaries. what do you do for the transfems and the nonbinary people assigned male at birth who you CAN'T "support" through gender essentialism and benevolent misogyny. do you ever feel the void where your NB/GQ/GNC neighbors should be?

It’s not even because I rep suselle(though people suddenly hating it more and more is alarming), like you guys know me I’m the polycule lover I have one of the longest polycule fics in the fandom.

But like. Have you ever had a friend you’d die for? Have you ever had a friend that changed and saved your life? Have you ever had a friend you want to live with, you’d trust with your life, that you’ve been through thick and thin with?

Theres such an amatonormative attitude towards shipping the two of them that kinda makes me pull my hair out. “Oh well best friends aren’t like THAT” yes they are. “They have a heart between them!!” Are you five. “Kris keeps blushing!!” Kris blushes over a shit ton of things unrelated to Susie, they’re a teenager that’s flustered easily and it’s a really interesting trait if theirs which also gets overshadowed by thinking blushing is only romantic.

Like it’s okay to ship them. It’s fine. But it makes the scene where they fall into the titan together go from tear-jerking to “eh”.

She still wants special Kris time. She still wants to include them. They’re still just as important to her. There’s not a “scale” of bonds where romantic is automatically stronger than platonic. Are we aware of this

what fucking game are yall playing where kris is "implied to have a crush on susie"???? what fucking game are yall playing where kris seems even remotely jealous of them at all, even as a friend??? i think theres something to be said about aro third wheel kris thats a fucking amazing analysis and i agree with a lot of people talking about that(and also at this point im p much fully on aroace kris as a train) but also i cant insist enough like theyre still part of the dynamic, they still have special friend times with susie, theyre still part of the dates. where are the implications of them experiencing a negative emotion about their relationship even coming from? what are you talking about??? is it because they took a nap???????????????????
