I met this nice girl through my college friend. She's my friend's childhood best friend and I had heard so much about her so I was really excited to finally meet her. The three of us hung out at a stupid school-sponsored event into the late hours of the night, drinking soda and eating pizza and getting to know each other. At the end of it, she entered into a raffle and ended up winning free tickets to Disneyland. We celebrated and parted ways. It was the highlight of that semester.
A few months later, Israel began dropping bombs on her family home. I watched from afar as her entire life fell apart and her family was displaced and killed. Every time I asked how she was doing, she was doing bad.
In Palestine, as in a lot of places in the world, it is shameful to ask for money. A little bit after the war began, I passed a message along to her family offering to help raise funds for their evacuation, but they declined saying that they didn't want pity from anyone. Now it seems like they're running out of options.
My friend has already lost so much so please spare her the additional indignity of asking for help and not receiving it. I can't imagine how soul crushing it would be to do something you believe to be shameful and for your effort to go to waste.
Their goal is only $5000 and they've already raised ~$820, I don't see why we can't raise the full amount within the next week.

Verified by the fact that this is literally my IRL. DM me if u wanna see her Instagram or other contact info proving she's real. Tumblr is a rather unsafe place for Palestinians so I'd rather not publicize all her personal info but I've been pretty careful with the fundraisers I boost on this blog so I hope you can trust me here.
EDIT 08/24/24:
Thank you all so much for your support. You have no idea what it means to me after so many months of witnessing zionist attacks both online and off, to see so many people come together and commit to helping someone I care about without a single zionist comment. There’s nothing but love here.
My friend reached her goal early this morning and I even saw people encouraging others to keep donating because they realized her family would need more. I am truly moved by this incredible show of compassion from everyone.
As you can imagine, life in Gaza is becoming increasingly more expensive. My friend has raised her goal to $10000 - let’s keep this train going and get her there within a week 🙏

truly at a loss for words. nesma @nesmamomen has been fundraising on this website since fucking march and is so tantalizingly close to her goal yet shes only bringing in $5-$10 every couple of hours or so. please take this burden off her shoulders after she has already lost everything
thank you all for the support ,, nesma just messaged me worried that her blog will get terminated because some of her fundraising posts have been marked “mature”, perhaps due to zionists reporting her en masse or tumblr auto-flagging the photos that show injuries suffered by the children of gaza. please take note of who she is, at the very least, on the off chance tumblr decides to nuke her.
she just got $95 in the past two hours but other than that donations have been slow. yes, she’s vetted

My precious family and I are seeking your generous donations to help us escape death in Gaza and evacuate to Egypt.
It breaks our hearts to pieces to even think about evacuating from our beloved Gaza where we've lived our entire lives and have had unnumberable beautiful memories. Throughout the nine months of the ravaging war in Gaza, the 5 members of my family have been displaced four times in the Gaza Strip seeking every avenue to escape imminent death. At one time, my family and I barely escaped death when sniper bullets hit the house where we sought refuge, and thank God no one of the children was injured.
The children and adults alike had to crawl on the floor to move from one room to another to minimize the risk of getting a bullet in the head or chest. We saw flashbacks before our eyes from our journey in life and thought: "This is the end. Here is where everyone in this family dies." I looked at the children with a heavy heart and thought to myself: "Should not they be playing football or hide and seek instead of trying to hide from Israeli sniper bullets?"
However, I will not save a breath in trying to protect my family and secure a joyous prosperous future for our children. With your generous donations, my family and I will leave famine, death, and destruction in Gaza and get into Egypt. The Egyptian authorities require 5000 dollars for each adult individual who wants to get into Egypt and half that amount from children. The remainder of the money will be used for daily supplies and living expenses in Egypt.
With your generous donations, we have a better chance of escaping death and enjoying the safety for which we've dearly longed for nine months.
People say: "Family always comes First," and to that, I say: "Amen!".

Guys the situation in Khan Younis is so scary that I don’t even know how to put it into words anymore. All it takes is looking up the city and seeing headlines like “over 100 of bodies ripped to pieces in Khan Younis!” “An Israeli airstrike decimates a house in Khan Younis belonging to x family!” “Even in the midst of ceasefire talks, Israeli forces continue pushing into Khan Younis” for all-consuming anxiety to seize me for all the families that have yet to evacuate. It’s getting so so bad there & yet so many people are still unable to evacuate.
Going to suggest a starting point to help by asking you to donate however much you can (anything helps) to Mohammad and Shaima’s fundraiser. Mohammad is Wafaa’s brother. Wafaa has been in direct contact w multiple ppl on here (me included) about her rapidly deteriorating health. This really is the lifeline for her family (the majority of whom are children) stuck in Khan Younis still. It’s incredibly dehumanizing.
It’s entirely attainable to raise the funds for them, but people keep falling off bc unfortunately a lot of them are desensitized to genocide. We should be pushing this rn more than we ever were.
I get that you’re probably like “ANOTHER fundraiser post” but like… just get over it and do your part. I’m kind of realizing that I refuse to coddle people about this anymore tbh. You should donate and share this bc it’s the right thing to do, not bc it played to your heartstrings or your savior complex. You should share it because you should, the same way you should drink water every day. That’s really all.
🇵🇸 save family lost their home ,dreams and everything in Gaza 🇵🇸
This is my home before the war and after the war how it became💔💔💔
Before: After:
We have been through many wars before, but this war was not like the ones before it. Our lives were turned upside down. We became displaced from one place to another. We are the Anas family, residents of northern Gaza, specifically in the Shujaiya area. In the first week of the war, we fled our home because everyone considered our home to be in a dangerous area. We moved to the Rimal area, specifically in the middle of Gaza. There, we received the news that our home, which contained all our beautiful memories, was bombed. Suddenly, it was gone!!! Just thinking that your home, which you worked hard on and built from scratch and took a lot of your life, was gone in less than a second ! After a while, we left the sands to the Al-Zawaida area because of the heavy shelling. We stayed there for about two weeks, and then the terrorist army asked us to go to Rafah. We actually fled for the fourth time to Rafah and stayed there for two months, some of the most difficult days of our lives, as there was no way or means to live a normal life. 😔😔 After that, because of the invasion of Rafah, we moved to Deir al-Balah. Now, we are in very difficult and oppressive circumstances.
We are asking you with all shame to support and stand by us in these difficult circumstances that everyone knows because we lost our home, our work and any stable source of income. Thank you all.

this campaign has also been reblogged by 90-ghost
this campaign is almost one third of their way to the goal - it's a milestone to hit 10k, i hope we can keep working hard to get them to 11k, then 20k, and get them closer to meeting their goal
It is not lost on me that the people accusing shahed of being a scammer reacted like that with a screenshot of the post where i specifically talked about shahed as a photographer and what she had personally lost to the zionist occupation in gaza.
And while they are not the first to try and discredit Shahed, i have noticed so far that a lot of it has come from people who have “free palestine” in their bios and palestine flags in their headers- like it's an aesthetic rather than an actual movement towards decolonization we must commit ourselves to. Because the people making these accusations thoughtlessly don’t have to commit themselves to anything- no matter what happens, they’ll get to keep living their privileged lives unchallenged.
It seems to me that the user base from the imperial core is only comfortable talking about atrocities happening to people in gaza when they are faceless victims they personally do not have to know or interact with, but not when they are real people with rich internal lives- with families, friends, hopes and dreams, and as artists who deserve to be uplifted and seen.
They are unable to confront the personhood of the people who their empire is actively killing today, and the enormity of everything the victims have lost and it all reads like a violent reaction to their own discomfort with having to hear about it at all- the claws come out and suddenly everyone is a liar and a fraud who is out to steal the measly $5 they were never even forced to donate. "Eat the rich" website my ass you people cant even be trusted to not report and try to get accounts of people deleted when they are just asking for help.
I will not let you discredit and insult shahed and her family like that.
I have known shahed for a month or so now and we talk on most days, when she is able to get a good internet connection. It has been spotty recently because of the incessant bombing, and because she got displaced after the massacres last week from where she and her family had been encamped at khan younis.
She has talked to me about her little sisters Rafif and Masa a lot. Rafif, thirteen years old, likes to read and write stories, winning prizes for it at a sector level, while Masa, who Shahed has described as a nine year old diamond, loves to draw.
They are both currently very ill with severe hepatitis from the unclean water in gaza.
Shahed told me that in the days before she and her family had gotten displaced, she had been recommended by the doctor who had been treating the kids to give them sweets, so that they can keep their strength up with the sugar.
So shahed decided to make them cake. With the scarcity of food and water in gaza right now, alongside the lack of basic amenities available in a kitchen, it had taken Shahed days of hunting to scrounge up all the ingredients she needed to make a cake. She often ran into dangers just trying to gather ingredients for them, as many areas in khan younis were turned into active combat zones. Oftentimes she escaped from death by just a hair.
Consulting her friend who is a chef, she was finally able to make it using a clay oven and give it to her sisters.
She has told me that despite how tired and sick she herself was, and all the dangers she had been through, it was all worth it when she saw her sisters’ faces light up when they got first taste of the cake she had painstakingly made for them.
This was around the same time she was able to collect the whole $40,000 USD for her sisters’ evacuation so that they can seek proper treatment for their illnesses in egypt.
It was also one day before they were forced to flee from their camp at khan younis due to the constant bombing by the IOF.
Both online and offline, Shahed has been fighting for her sisters’ safety at great cost to herself, despite all the obstacles in her path.
Right now, she has registered her sisters for evacuation at the hala agency for when the border opens so they can get to safety. But due to the lack of funds for it, she will not be able to join them when they leave and will have to stay behind with the rest of her family.
In her own words:
"This is my family and I will always fight for them. I know that when I am afraid, I will be able to survive if I know that they will be by my side. We will be together. I can't imagine an instant where we are apart.
I will be too lonely, and I will collapse without them. Who else will give me the motivation and strength to fight? they are everything, my family is like my soul. I can't imagine for a moment that we are not with each other.”
Her sisters are her strength, and without Shahed i can't imagine there will be people in Egypt who will fight for those little girls as fiercely as she does. The safety Masa and Rafif want to escape to CANNOT exist without Shahed, and she has told me how heartbroken they are too at the idea of being forced to leave Shahed and the rest of the family behind.
TIME IS RUNNING OUT. TO EVACUATE THE WHOLE FAMILY OF 17, SHAHED WILL NEED TO GATHER 80K WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK.
THEY ARE CURRENTLY ONLY AT 54.6k/80k
PLEASE SUPPORT SHAHED AND KEEP HER FAMILY FROM BEING TORN APART.
With regional tensions being escalated by the zionist occupation in gaza, we don't know when they might get a chance to evacuate again. The people who have been hellbent on discrediting palestinians and discouraging people from donating to them by targeting shahed recently have been beyond cruel, and we CANNOT allow them to hinder Shahed from saving herself and her family.
Have you ever experienced seeing your dream broken in front of your eyes and not being able to do … Shahed Muhammad needs your support for H

Share her story, repost her photography anywhere you have reach, share the link to the raffle being conducted for her @journalsforpalestine wherever you can this CANNOT WAIT.
Shahed needs these funds as soon as possible. Her entire family is at stake and we can't fail her now.
a big thank you to everyone who has donated and shared!! you have helped raise $620 in the last two hours!!! keep sharing and donating, let’s get Shahed to her goal!! ♥️
Trapped Family in Gaza Appeals for Help to Survive
A Plea for Help from Gaza: A Family Seeking Safety
Hello, I am Mohammed Alanqer, married to Enas Majed, and we have four wonderful children.
We live in the midst of the ongoing hellish war in Gaza, trapped between walls of fear and despair. I, Mohammed, am a father of four children and a husband to a woman who was two months pregnant when the war began.
The story will be in three languages: English, French and Arabic

We struggle daily to survive in an environment filled with threats and dangers.
I lost our sole source of livelihood when my tech startup, which I built with dedication and hard work, was destroyed in the war. My children, Layan, Sarah, and Adam, have been deprived of education after their schools were destroyed, severely threatening their future. Amidst these harsh circumstances, my wife gave birth to our fourth child, Amir, in the midst of the war, adding to our state of despair and hopelessness.
My wife, Enas, lives in constant anxiety due to the destruction of hospitals in our area. I have lost my job and source of income, leaving me unable to provide for my family's needs and safety. Our home was destroyed by the war, forcing us to flee repeatedly and rendering us homeless.
We now face extreme difficulty in providing a safe place to live, clean clothes, and food for our children. Additionally, our children have contracted diseases like measles, and our son Adam has been diagnosed with viral hepatitis.
Our only hope now is to escape this ongoing nightmare and find a safe haven for our family. However, this requires exorbitant financial costs; the coordination fees for crossing the borders amount to $5000 per adult and $2500 per child, a sum I cannot afford alone.
We urgently appeal for your moral and financial assistance to cover the necessary costs for escaping to a safe environment, where we can build a better future for our children and ensure our family's safety.
We are in desperate need of your support. Any donation, no matter how small, can help save our lives. Thank you for your attention and support during these harsh times.

hi, i'm trans/nb netfreak frog k, the writer. you might know me for my shitposts about... idk, the library of alexandria or dogs knowing how steel works or whatever? i don't really know what people know anymore.
i need help. i'm in recovery from a period of at least three years of b12/b9 deficiency, maybe longer. it struck in a big way after a nasty bout of covid in early 2020 and i only knew it was a major problem last month. after a month of 40,000x strength capsules i can just now feel my legs well enough to reliably walk unassisted. in the context of that, i've been wrestling with housing scarcity, one of those fun moving-target disabilities where some days i'm fully capable of feeding myself and some days i can barely stand upright, and a sort of soul-shattering paranoid depression that's made it incredibly hard to reach out to people and ask for help, or really maintain social relationships at all.
i'm due to consult further with a doctor and make sure there's nothing worse wrong with me than any of that this week. in the interim i have about ten dollars to my name and have been subsisting on frozen waffles and corn chips for days; the car i rely on to get frozen food i can cook myself at the store is on its last legs, creaking and groaning at stops and flashing an ABS light intermittently.
i think raising $500 or so would offer some degree of stability while i figure this shit out. i really want to get back to working but it's kind of hard to imagine anything my diseased dropout ass can do right now. reblogs always appreciated, and feel free to link to this or w/e on whatever platform.

i'm sure it will hit the news soon but today brandeis university had several students arrested at a peaceful protest based solely on the insistence that shouting "from the river to the sea, palestine will be free" + mentioning the word intifada is hate speech. our president is prioritizing short-term funding from wealthy israelis + wealthy supporters of israel by condoning a genocide + suppressing free speech on campus, even as IDF soldiers give talks to our student body. our chapter of sjp was suspended due to unsubstantiated accusations that it "supports hamas" after a palestinian student who has lost her entire family in this atrocity tried to organize a vigil for the lost. there is a huge contingent of the student body, including the entire anthropology grad department, who supports a liberated palestine + we have been threatened, condescended to, + censored in order to give off the impression that the university "stands with israel".
tikkun olam means palestinian liberation. never again means never again.
