My hottest Carrie take is that none of the adaptations come close to the empathy that King has for Carrie as a character in the book. Every adaptation sands down Carrie's more unappealing (by societal standards) traits to make her a tragic, saintly figure who snapped that night. The book doesn't do that. It doesn't matter that Carrie is a "frog among swans" who had violent fantasies and parroted her mother's religious rhetoric to classmates. She is still Carrie White, an abused girl who didn't deserve anything that happened to her.

There are multiple pregnant people in my family right now and I really like seeing how different families navigate pronoun use for a baby that has an unknown gender.

I’m grateful for the takeoff of acceptance in singular they/them pronouns (and my sister-in-law is having twins, therefore using “they/them” in the plural way). But it still doesn’t come naturally to some people.

Some people are comfortable using “it/its” pronouns, and other people feel like that’s dehumanizing.

“He or she” is a safe bet if you don’t know the vibe of the parents. Don’t “it” a fetus until the parents do it first.

My favorite though is when “baby” is just always used. Just no pronouns for Baby. Baby is too small to have pronouns yet.

Early Adventure Time Episode: finn discovers a squirrel that can burp like a human and names it Burpin Mike. he uses Burpin Mike to prank jake, but takes the prank too far and learns a lesson about boundaries.

Late Adventure Time Episode: Burpin Mike's burping talent has netted him a lucrative career as a political spokesperson in the candy kingdom. the job brings him success, but he hates himself for selling out his talent. he is depressed, and at one point is implied to be suicidal. none of Adventure Time's main characters appear in the episode.

Be accurate, Finn and Jake are seen once from a distance having an idle conversation or just making noises together for fun, Burpin Mike looks on and almost goes to join his old friends, but as a political spokesperson Starchy has him arguing that the Candy Kingdom needs to invest in itself rather than hiring outside heroes like Finn and Jake, and the guilt of publicly speaking against them makes him stay away from the chance to reconnect with them. The episode either ends either with Burpin Mike staring longingly out the window of hid high rise candy apartment, Finn and Jake's treehouse visible in the distance and his harrowed expression in the mirror as he burps once, or with him tearing off his fancy suit live on TV and saying "I don't. Want to do any of this junk anymore. I noticed it was jamming up my happy gland in a bad ways, so." Then shrugging and scampering off
