the first mate

you are immeasurably loyal, even when everyone tells you that you should give up and give in, that you have done more than enough. you know people’s needs almost instantaneously, leading and looking after others whilst shying away from the spotlight; you love with your hands more than you can with your words. you have loved your captain since they had both eyes and both hands, when the twinkle in their eye was unmatched even by the northern star. perhaps you could do to set boundaries between you and what your captain asks of you--first mates are the first to embitter. you don’t remember a time you have not been on the ship, giving yourself over more than you’ve got as you follow your captain into every endeavor and battle. but what you want is to crawl back onto shore, into the shade of a leafy tree in the soft sand, and to rest your weary bones. you ache for a home that will never truly revive you. one day, your captain will thank you for everything you’ve done for them; they will cup your hand in theirs and tell you that they will take care of you now.

you love with fondness. your love is coming home to a snuggly cup of tea and book by your side. your love is kissing the foreheads and cheeks of the people you love as you pass by. making dinner together. riding bicycles. sitting with your back against a tree in a quiet meadow. you love with your whole heart and you are not shy. the people you love cannot help falling in love with you too. you love with serenity.

What little things make your OC happy? The sunset? Eating a nice meal? The smell or beauty of flowers?

Off the top of my head, the first thing that comes to mind is sheep. He tended them for his tribe and really loves them, if it was feasible he'd likely have one along with him on his adventures. He finds happiness in a lot of small things from flower crowns to sunny days sitting with friends. The smell of flowers and fresh ocean air make him as happy as rainy nights comfy by the fire. Kansui will always find happiness in small things unless it's slugs (they are slimy and he doesn't like holding them. Plus they have weird retractable eyestalks which creep him out!).

1. How does your OC get the comfiest? Do they wrap themselves in a blanket? Do they build a pillow nest? Do they make a nice cup of cocoa or tea?

Kansui absolutely loves to build comfy pillow/blanket nests when he's able to. Not only is it fun he feels it gives a bit of security to build one to curl up in. He'd be terribly embarrassed to have anyone find out about his little nest-building activities though so it's not his normal go-to. On a day-to-day basis, he will wrap a warm blanket around himself with a cup of cocoa, making sure it's tucked close so he almost hides in it. Ever since his first cup it's been his go-to drink, warm and sweet he prefers it over tea when he needs a pick me up.

the wonderlust heart

your soul longs for your adventure. sometimes you're filled with so many ambitions and dreams you think you might burst. you rush about in a frenzy, afraid to miss out on all the opportunities life has to offer. you see the world with all it's light and all its darkness and can't help but see something beautiful in every part. every star and every shadow. you say you're running towards your goals, but sometimes i think you're trying to escape the ugly things you couldn't paint over.

emergency commissions

N - Navigator - What’s their sense of direction like? Do they have a set path in life that they’re planning on following? What do they do if they’re knocked off course?

If we're talking in a traveling sense he actually has a great sense of direction, and generally knows which way he's going or needs to go even with only one glance at a map. If you mean like life goals then not really. At the moment he just wants to see the world and make some friends while doing so. He might even be waiting to stumble across his life's calling along the way, but he certainly isn't setting out with one in mind. And being knocked off course wouldn't bother him at all, in fact, he would enjoy being pushed down another course, ready to just ride the wind wherever it takes him!

V - Visionary - Do they have a plan for their future? How imaginative or creative are they? Do they have vivid dreams?

At the moment all he has planned for his future is to travel all of Eorzea and make new friends to adventure with. Anything beyond that hasn't really been on his mind really. Young and full of excitement for the here and now he hasn't nailed down what his future will be like.

I'd have to put him in the creative and imaginative bin because he is rather crafty with everyday objects. From his favorite thing, flower crowns, to making his own clothing he really does enjoy making new things and having them be unique. Even if unique means they were sewn very wrong. And dreams? Oh sure, he has them. Usually in vivid color but not really cohesive. Generally they don't seem to make a lot of sense and come with very strangely colored animals.

T - Teacher - How often do they have to teach others? How do they go about it? How do they learn best? Do they dive in first and reflect later or study the theory of something new before putting it into practice?

When he was still living in the Steppe he would sometimes help teach some of the young children about the tribe's sheep, how to care for them and how to best herd them. Nowadays he doesn't get as much opportunity to teach much of anything as the world outside his homeland is all so new and he knows hardly anything about it. He's a very patient teacher, however, encouraging anyone he's instructing to be hands-on and to ask questions.

Kansui is very much a hands-on and visual learner, so when it comes time to learn something new he dives in head-first. Studying isn't something he generally enjoys and would be his last resort really. Reflecting back on what he did and how he could have done better goes much more smoothly for the next time than trying to read about it. He would definitely do better with someone showing him how to do something new rather than trying to study.

Q - Queen - What kind of leader are they? Are they entitled? What have they inherited from their parents? How powerful are they? Do they act superior towards others?

Kansui makes for a poor leader, he's very wishy-washy and tends to want to make everyone happy which can end in disaster as he doesn't have the 'put his foot down' nerve. He's also nervous being put in charge of anything more serious than herding sheep which is nice because he definitely doesn't give off any entitlement vibes.

As for his parents, he really didn't inherit much from them but rather from the guardian he got among the Kuhkol. He learned a great deal of gentleness, expressing his emotions and being open to new things and people. The most notable would be that he inherited his great love of listening to other people from his motherly guardian while his ability to hunt was learned by the tribe as a whole.

Luckily his being left by the Tumet tribe did much for him. Lucky because he doesn't see himself as superior to anyone else and is much more likely to take everyone's help equally. As far as power goes he's rather strong because he had found, and really enjoys, the pugilist path. He's not the strongest fighter out there but he gives it his best go! (If rp'd as the WoL that's obviously a different answer haha!)

You, frankly, are a goddamn delight. You bring light with you wherever you go, and whether you're aware of it or not, you're the life of the party. Despite your flamboyant nature, you're surprisingly soft. You give the sweetest gifts, and are probably the best amateur masseuse of your friend group. Those closest to you see this softness, and love you for it. Remember this when you are called "too much": there is no such thing as too much of you. People who say those things are just too small to have the space for your light. Don't tone it down, just find people who will treasure every piece of you.
