Ambition and altruism are two things I didn't really think were compatible. The way I was raised, being ambitious was dangerous and altruism was the thing to strive for. Give more. Don't accept what you can't pay back. Give and G*d will reward you.

Tonight, I think about the future I want. The one I can manifest for myself. No partners, no lovers, just me. For years, doing this just produced a depressing nothingness that made me feel like my only option is to marry, have children, give myself wholly to my family.

But tonight, it's different. I find myself daydreaming about a life independent and free, traveling to places I can't pronounce and learning everything I can about people I may never see again.

Life does not begin or end with how valuable you are to those around you. You are intrinsically valuable and you deserve to live a life you find worth living. Whatever your happiness is, take it by the throat of the heavens and don't let go

Someone please explain to me the plot of Phantom of the Opera and Anastasia like I'm a impatient five year old (detailed but short)

i'll try but i'm terrible at explaining things so:

Anastasia: a girl who has amnesia is trying to find her place in the world (home, love, family from the tagline) and asks two conmen Vlad and Dimitry to take her to Paris, believing her answers to be there. They find her as a perfect candidate for the long-lost Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov and agrees. In the meantime, Deputy Commissioner Gleb Vaganov (she met him earlier) was tasked to stop her from assuming the role of Anastasia by any means, including killing her. They all go to Paris by the second act, where Vlad meets his old flame Lily. Dimitry and Anya also find out they met when they were kids and are in love (while Anya also recovers her memories) just before Anya formally meets her grandmother, who confirms that she is Anastasia. Lastly, Gleb attempts to take her life - his duty - but cannot do it because... it's implied that he's at least halfway in love with her at this point. It ends happily for everyone (except probably gleb, i'm still salty about it).

Fucking christ, do you know what this would have done? What this would have meant to SO MANY people??  The truth of this is devastating. And to think it almost found it’s way into a DISNEY film??

The inclusion of this scene alone would have made it the greatest animated feature the company ever produced. Easily. And if you think that’s hyperbolic clearly you don’t understand.

No, really, if anyone knows why this was cut PLEASE let me know.

It was clearly something the crew was very reluctant to get rid of if it made it all the way to rough-clean (and in a few scenes clean!), fully inbetweened animation. That is like, thousands and thousands of dollars and weeks (months?!) of labour. Maybe a reluctant producer decided they would alienate their white middle-class American audiences by making them feel “too guilty” and pressed them to drop it? It’s unfortunate, it’s one of the most honest accounts of racism in a Disney movie (which is why it’s believable that someone got uncomfortable and made a case to get it chopped)

Designing entertainment by committee for maximum marketability is probably the most heartbreaking process in Hollywood.

Okay, lemme send a message out to those who follow me for the yearning posts. The kinda creepy You dialogs rejects that I was posting before.

So that was a super unhealthy relationship my ex friend tricked me into. He was using me and my crush on him to satisfy his needs while getting me addicted to the feeling of being wanted. If you are ever uncomfortable with something after it's happened, talk to a trusted friend. Heck, reach out to me if you want. I'll listen.

Now, let me tell you how a relationship should make you feel: you should feel safe and comfortable in every choice you make. When you're with that person, they should never make you feel like you need to go further than you're okay with. Be vocal. Be loud about your discomfort. But be just as loud and vocal about what makes you happy.

The dramatic "you're a poison too rich for me" can be fun to indulge in, but don't let this be your view of romance and relationships. The person you care about should never make you feel like important parts of you (your standards, your self worth, your comfort) are dying.
