david shore. david shore i just want a word. i just want aword i promise. regarding the man who spent an entire episode trying to convince himself that he had something left to live for. for a man who hallucinated a suicidal coworker telling him he loved his job enough not to die. his best friends dead girlfriend telling him his puzzles were worth living for. his job was something he loved enough to live. his ex wife telling him he could still be happy. he could still have a life, even if it wasnt with her. a woman who loved him telling him he's suffered enough, that he was a coward for not dying with conviction.
and what does this man do? this man who has spent his entire life married to logic, rationalization, sensibilities, a scientific, tangible, ultimate truth? this man who has spent his entire life looking for solutions rooted in rationality? this man who has convinced dozens of people that destroying your life for the temporary isnt worth it?
what does he do after an entire episode of convincing himself there's more to live for than the two things he loves in this world-- his job, and his best friend?
he sacrifices the only other thing he has ever cared about. he destroys his life. he lets go of the only other thing he has ever felt love or passion or care for. the only other thing in his life that matters.
ALL that. for five months with wilson.
House, the selfish, arrogant, unapologetic jerk who destroyed every one of his romantic relationships and hurt nearly everyone in his life. The man whose talent in medicine is intertwined with his lack of care, his selfishness in regards to human life. The man who is characterized by his misanthropic nature--
--That man dies for wilson
He cannot think of a single thing in his world that matters more than his best friend. So he dies for the five months they have left together.
And Wilson, his selfless, kind, pure-hearted conscience, who a day ago had told him he wanted him to make something meaningful of his life without him around-- smiles at the thought of him sacrificing everything for him.
David Shore i just need to know why your straight male platonic characters have become so deeply intertwined with one another that they can no longer even be considered separate people anymore so much as a manifestation of the concept of love
