I actually loved Al-Hashimi this episode. I’ve seen some people say that she’s being reduced to her condition in the finale but imo she actually fights against that by calling out Robby’s behavior. She does not take his “oh you cant handle the job” stuff lying down dude they were fighting. Honestly the only character to call out his possessiveness over “his hospital” the whole season.

If this was a worse show they would’ve wrapped it all up nicely with an apology scene but nope! They left it unresolved, as they know we’ll get back to it in season 3–because that’s what happens when you know you have more time to make shit!! No rushing!!!

loved the conversation between Langdon and Whitaker in the break room. i was worried at first that Whitaker going to lambast him in relation to santos and their beef but i'm glad it was just about his own agency. makes me recognize how much other characters treat him as...well...a character in their own lives to interact with instead of a fully realized person. also loved how langdon didn't get defensive and instead agreed and told him to stick to his guns after he tried to apologize. 10/10 scene

to add on I also think this scene can relate to the way trinity talks to dennis, which is i think is bit....demeaning? like she jokes that he doesn't know anything, and is a "huckleberry" and all that but there must be a point where he gets tired of all the bits to avoid a genuine conversation. again, back to that idea where he's a sitcom character in her life rather than a real friend. just someone to make fun of rather than actually talk with. I think langdon doing that whole buddy buddy thing with him again kinda broke the camel's back and he snapped because he's basically faced with that "sarcasm to avoid realness" schtick for at least 10 months. I'm not saying whitaker secretly hates santos or anything noooo. but, there has to be a reason for his strong reaction to langdon so that's my speculation. but it may change on a rewatch

I don’t even care if Michael Robinavitch, the fictional character, doesn’t have the same exact circumstances.

Abandoning your child, even with a grandparent, is still considered neglect and abuse.

^^^the rhetoric of comments like the one in the image is exactly why I’m starting to dislike this fandom too. op, I’m so sorry you’re seeing this types of stuff in this supposedly self-aware fandom. You deserve better.

Let’s be clear: this show is about fictional people, but the stories they represent are real. All narratives are based on people’s real life experiences, especially The Pitt.

When you hit post on your “jokes,” people can see them. All types of people, including individuals who may have experience with the same struggles that The Pitt’s characters do. To them it’s not a “funny haha” moment, it’s their life.

Your anti-bullshit against a fictional man should not negate your empathy and compassion. You can criticize a person without engaging in inappropriate personal attacks about their background.

And yes, they become personal attacks as soon as they’re posted on social media. Your opinions on characters imply your opinions on real life situations. It is not discourse or media analysis to say a person deserves to be abandoned. What value does that bring to the conversation?

We have a serious lack of empathy in this fandom for show that literally screams “HAVE EMPATHY” at you. I’ve seen so many takes like “Langdon should go to prison” that want to make my head explode. So many of you will say insanely insensitive shit just to dunk on fictional people while trying to defend your “favs.” It’s not cool, it’s not feminist, it’s just rude.

Imagine saying you deserved to be abandoned to a person’s face. You should off yourselves, you deserve to go to prison for your addiction, you deserve to lose your family, etc. See how fucked up that is? If you can’t, you can’t be watching this show.

oh dennis whitaker you truly are the best of us

i've loved the drawbacks from season one and how much he picked up from robby on his first day and now he wants to hand that wisdom down to other med students like he had on his first day

People who don’t like this scene confuse me because first it’s a parallel to season 1 with Collins and Robby and second it shows how Robby’s teachings of kindness and compassion from s1 helped Whitaker, which he can now pass down to other med students. It demonstrates how empathy is a better teaching tool than shame. And yes this needed to happen with Oglivie specifically because he’s a character who blames himself for any mistake! It is obvious before their heart-to-heart that he was blaming himself for the patients death. Whitaker needed to be the voice of reason to help him work through that trauma, especially since Robby is out the wazoo.

Last thing but I love how they made Monica a true analog character to the point where she’s just straight up racist 😭 like yeah she’s useful but she is not a fan of the brown people speaking Armenian in the er

I’d bet money that when Abbot said he was “going upstairs to talk to admin,” he was really in the parking lot fucking up Robby’s motorcycle like, “You’re gonna learn how much I love you TO-DAY, bitch.”

Not a good day for Santos fans because what do you mean Cassie “I can make this person be more empathetic and help them have a better view of the world” McKay just had to say “ok” and walk away

That McKay and Santos conversation with the “health nut” patient this episode was soooo interesting. Because it tells the audience two things:

1. That Santos is inherently pessimistic. She does not see the good in people most of the time, and anything that she doesn’t understand defaults to a “fucking idiot” mindset. We know she gets this from her trauma, most likely. It’s why she doesn’t open up to people, cannot get over Langdon’s behavior, and is unable to be vulnerable. And sure this attitude can work sometimes, we have seen before that his negative outlook can lead Santos to make brash decisions.

And 2. McKay is sooooo empathetic. I was surprised at first when she came to the patient’s defense, thinking in the same way as Santos that the women is just being manipulated by all this health advice nonsense. But instead of treating her as a nuisance, McKay sees it as a woman who is being taken advantage of because she is insecure about herself and her health. Yet similar to santos her optimism and empathy has also led to some problems, such as David in s1 (which is more of a Robby thing but it’s still related) and the street team check up making her miss Roxie’s death.

I found it interesting how their ideologies clash and somehow align, as in the end they both use their opposite belief systems to treat patients. I mean they only figured out the turmeric issue because Santos assumed she was doing something stupid. But Santos’ apparent lack of empathy for those she deems “unworthy” has bitten her in the ass multiple times, where Mckay’s ability to understand people (like with PCOS patient) has saved numerous patients…idk it was a really interesting scene and I wonder why the writers put it in this episode!

They humanized Ogilvie in three minutes. Two camera shots. One wide and a medium took him from the asshole the whole fandom wants to burn on a stake to a human being. Fucking bravo to this show man it is absolutely golden.

let me say I liked Oglivie way before this!! His character was really interesting and even though many people want to throw him into a ravine I still found him sympathetic in a way. I don’t endorse any potential takes like “he got what he deserved” bc that’s wild to say a person deserves to watch somebody die!! Use those empathy muscles people!!

Also who is placing bets that someone is going to call psych on Robby? Man is basically advertising his suicide plans and somebody needs to blow the whistle NOW.
