In one of Light Novels (called Super High School Level Friendship) Hinata worries that the moment Komaeda finds out he has a "worthless talent" he'll stop caring about him.

Yet in main gameplay after finding out how Hinata doesn't have talent but also IS Ultimate Despair Komaeda admits he can't stop caring about Hinata. Even after learning everything.

And in alternate universe where they spend time with the knowledge of Hinata being talentless, he actively seeks out Hinata.

Does become friends with him.

And does care about him afterwards!

You cannot convince me that Komaeda would not care about Hinata just because he's talentless or worse hate him. #EndBullyKomaedaNagitoCharacterization

it was really that serious for him... i actually love that we get to see him have interests like this, even if it's every now and then i think it really fleshes him out even more as a character 😭 he's really just a guy!!

There are soooo many examples of this I could go on and on about it. Even the premise itself of him just wanting to live a normal life but being unable to because he's a psychic aligns with it perfectly. The feeling alienated and like he can't make friends...

There's also the fact that his parents are clearly unsure of what to do with him. Kurumi tries her best but it's clear that she can't fully help him, and don't even get me started on Kuniharu

In reawakened he constantly compares losing his powers to recovering from an injury...

He has to use devices to help himself get by and without them he can't control himself or function normally at all. Hell they LITERALLY put him in a wheelchair when they break. I'm not sure how much more obvious an allusion it could be

It’s kind of like the unlucky trait in Sims 3. Nort is always involved in some sort of shenanigans (usually the consequences of their own actions, but not always). However, death finds their misfortune amusing and lets them live.

Plus, as an added safety measure, they have friends working round the clock to keep them alive
