I loved this wolfstar x beach read fic (I would pay good money to see THIS as a movie) and immediately knew I wanted to make it as Beach Read as possible. I spent way too long looking at fonts (per usual) and making the typeset as contemporary romance as I could. I am siriusly chuffed by how my cover art alterations turned out and had so much fun piecing together the cover elements. AI who?? Do shit by hand and make it wonky and imperfect!!! (But seriously, fuck AI. And Joanne.)

Remus tries not to think too hard about the fact that Sirius has been staying in bed until noon lately.
He's always been one to wake early, rising with the sun and tackling the day with unbridled enthusiasm while Remus slept on, but now he can’t remember the last time that happened. Remus knows that they’re both getting older—in their sixties, which had seemed impossible when they were young and dumb and in the middle of their first war, but here they are—and logically he knew that one day Sirius would lose his still boyish nature. Remus hasn’t felt young since the late seventies, when his joints started popping every time he moved and he enjoyed an early bedtime over partying with his friends, but he couldn’t ever imagine that happening to Sirius, who has always been so full of life and vigor.
The thing is, if Remus is being honest with himself, he’s pretty sure that it can’t be chalked up to the fact that they’re aging.

if you work in a creative field...or if you do creative hobbies like writing or drawing...you need to make friends with people who don't do those things. you need to befriend normie Steve who has never written a story in his life. and this is because when you are in a creative job or hobby and spend all your time doing that thing, surrounded by very capable people, who you inevitably compare your own progress and skills to, you forget what the baseline human skill at that thing is. and it's usually zero. normie Steve has not written a story since the 3rd grade when his teacher made him do it. he's very good at other things that are not storytelling - but if you tell normie Steve that you wrote a full 300-page book from start to finish, he will think you're some kind of savant. he does not know ANYONE else who has done this. you need this perspective. because when you're constantly on Let's Write Stories dot Com then everyone on Let's Write Stories dot Com will inevitably be like "oh of course everyone on earth has written a book or several at this point!" and you canNOT let yourself think that. that is not even close to the average human experience. you are in a bubble. do not put yourself down. do not give up.
True to form, I am posting this on tumblr many weeks after the fact.
But over the winter, I had a couple Jegulus-averse friends ask whether it would be possible to create a version of Code Black's first season with just the Wolfstar story. I decided that, yes, it was possible and started working on it in February. Now that it's all put together, I figured I'd post the whole thing on AO3 just in case there's anyone else out there who might want to read it this way.
So, voilà! I present... Code Black (Wolfstar's Version).
This is a version for anyone who:
Wants to read a slow burn Wolfstar med school AU with JUST background Jily (no Jegulus, no Slytherin plotlines)
Only reads completed fics (this fic is entirely pre-written and posting on schedule)
Wants a tiny bit of extra CB content*
*The new content is: Ch 1 (new Sirius prologue), Ch 5 (second half is rewritten from Remus' POV), Ch 8 (rewritten from Sirius' POV), Ch 15 (short scene rewritten from Regulus' POV), Ch 30 (new Remus/Sirius fluff and smut chapter)
I'll be posting this every Mon/Wed/Fri all summer while I continue working on the original Code Black and also [redacted secret Jegulus project].
