my first experience playing disco elysium is i gave harry the minimum of constitution so i could bulk up his brain stats. then i turned on the light in the apartment and died instantly. when the game rebooted it glitched so all i could do was spin and not get up
how can anything be more pathetic than this
i’ve had tumblr for about 4 years now and i still don’t know how to use it but anyway!! listen to グレイン this song reshaped my brain
being completely and utterly normal about the bombshell that just dropped
Thank you Linux
this goes hard as fuck
Now THIS is what I call an open source movement
I’m going to say it. The (word in parentheses) meme is way better for tone indication than tone indicators
My contribution to this meme
Because I’m standing firm with this I decided to update it to be a little more specific since some people aren’t getting the hint.
It’s not terribly mysterious why shit like the load-bearing coconut happens. Usually it goes something like this:
Goal: the programmers have a bunch of data they need to have access to in every scene
Problem: the game engine they’re using does not support a global scope
Solution: create an invisible game object that holds all of that data in its attributes, and make sure it’s the first thing that loads in every scene
Additional problem: the game engine requires every object to have a texture assigned to it, even if it’s never rendered
Additional solution: assign this random stock photo we just happened to have lying around as the texture for the fake global scope object
Result: the resources folder now contains a random JPEG of a coconut that can’t be removed or else the whole game stops working
One might think that this understanding would make load-bearing coconuts less funny, but this is not in fact the case: it makes them much, much funnier.

Twine Sugarcube 101
AKA, all you need to make a Twine game (I swear to god)
I’ve seen a lot of people go “Twine is too complicated for me :(” and give up before they’ve even started. And that makes me sad, partly because they’re giving up on a really cool hobby, and also because that’s false! It’s absolutely not too complicated for you!
I think the problem is that people look up Twine, see the documentation, and go “There’s way too much there! I can’t learn all that!” Well guess what- you shouldn’t learn all that, at least not yet. As a beginner you can skip pretty much all of this:
(Ignore <<linkappend>> too, forgot to crop that one out)
That’s a lot more manageable, right? Below the cut, I’ll let you know how to use all those remaining important things to make your story! Warning- it’s quite long! You might want to read it in sections! And while I’ll try to keep it entertaining, it’s also a coding tutorial, so… y’know. Might not be the most exciting read if you aren’t trying to learn Twine.
