Is Konami Gauging Interest To Bring Back Dormant IPs?
Based on a recent survey, it appears that Konami is gauging consumer interest on a few dormant franchises. Funny enough, we recently posted an article a while back on the top 5 games we would like to see Konami release on consoles and surprisingly some of our wishes were featured on the survey such as Bomberman, Contra, Sunsetriders, Zone of the Enders and Castlevania. Here’s a list of the franchises featured in the survey:
Bishi Bashi
Bomberman
Castlevania
Contra
Gradius
Mystical Ninja/Goemon
Parodius
Rocket Knight/Sparkster
Suikoden
Sunsetriders
Track & Field
Vandal Hearts
Yu-Gi-Oh
Zone of The Enders
Out of most of these IPs listed Castlevania is the only franchise to really receive a new entry in the year or so. Surprisingly but not really, both the Silent Hill and Metal Gear franchises are missing in this survey which could be due the negative feedback Konami has received over the past few months regarding the departure of developer Hideo Kojima who created the Metal Gear series and was set to helm the next entry in the Silent Hill series, Silent Hills, which was cancelled by Konami earlier this year. But then again Zone of the Enders is on this list so who knows why the other 2 didn’t appear.
However, it looks like Konami is trying to do some damage control and attempting to get in touch with their fanbase with the recent survey. The survey asks if people questions like, how would they rate said game and what are their favorite elements/features in the game, as well as asking you if you would be interested in playing a new installment of that game and which platform would you be most interested (PC, Mobile or Console). It’s refreshing to see them ask these questions and I personally hope that this brings back some older franchises that Konami has placed on the back burner in the last half decade. I mean if we could get a non Mercury Steam Castlevania, Bomberman,Sunsetriders HD remake or even smaller digital titles for most of the games listed on that survey to engage intrest if more should be released, I personally would be happy.
But this is a very smart move considering Konami does not have any future console game releases aside from Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Here’s hoping that none of these choices are pachinko slots though, because….you know…Erotic Violence. NOTE: NFSW btw

Video Game Nostalgia Collection
Artist Edward J. Moran II, an upcoming artist from Michigan USA, has teamed up with WhenRoutineBites.com, an awesome art & print site dedicated to all sorts of pop-culture prints, to bring you the Video Game Nostalgia Collection. This collection celebrates some of the pivotal and beloved games within the gaming industry spanning from the late 1970′s all the way up to the ‘90′s.
In the words of Edward, “I love creating retro-style posters and I thought this line would be a fantastic avenue for me to try out different concepts and colour schemes with a vintage, retro feel. I felt that simplifying the designs and experimenting by using colours that stand out would be somewhat unique and different to what people are used to seeing. I’m really honoured to have the first collection of exclusive prints on offer from When Routine Bites.”
All prints are made to order and are available via WhenRoutineBites starting at £14.99/$23.50. Don’t miss out on these amazing designs!
Una loba en el armario ~♪
I am so mad that we live in a day and age where programming music has gotten complex enough to change based on player performance and actions (ex: “Killer Instinct”), and we’re not getting any old-to-mid-school “Castlevania” games with that tech.
Like, the closest example I can find of what that might be like is:
Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, NES.
“What a horrible night to have a curse..”
Castlevania’s Simon Belmont sketch
This is what I have to play for now. #Nintendo64 #Castlevania #Nintendo #Mario
