i know this will make me sound old and boring but once iβm home for the night iβm home. i donβt like upsetting my plans even when i donβt have any. yes itβs only 8pm but i spent the whole evening believing iβm not going anywhere, i cannot perceive or be perceived right now, try again later
I am such a dumbass.Β
I am so shy and weak and pathetic around one of my favorite people on this planet.Β
I waited too long. I spent so much time being fearful. Making the wrong decisions, sabotaging myself because I know myΒ βdutyβ.Β
Maybe itβs just not meant to be, no matter how much I want it to be so.Β
Self love and confidence is not pretending you have no flaws. Itβs knowing your flaws, and still seeing value in yourself. Itβs standing up to your negative traits and seeing your potential. Itβs figuring out how youβre gonna still be the best version of you and overcome the downfalls. Itβs not having to hide behind that insecure voice that pushes you to only let the world see you at your deceiving best, while the real you is veiled. Deep down, the truth about yourself will eat you up subconsciously and leave you empty. Knowing your weaknesses is the biggest strength youβll ever have.

Sure, relationships typically start with a honeymoon phase that then grows into something deeper but a bit more mellow if things work out, but itβs depressing as fuck that this has turned into a really, really common script for straight relationships that says itβs totally normal and inevitable for dudes to just become more and more emotionally checked out of the relationship, and leave it to their girlfriend/wife to perform if she wants to get even a crumb of affection from him. Iβm so fucking tired of seeing women constantly being taught that decades of emotional neglect is just our lot in life.
what βgetting out of the honeymoon phaseβ should mean: you arenβt joined at the hip anymore and can spend time apart, but you still greatly enjoy eachotherβs company and deliberately make time to be together. youβre not just a unit, youβre a matched set (like, youβre susan and bob rather than susanandbob). you start to see eachotherβs flaws and donβt put eachother on a pedestal but instead love eachother as human beings, flaws and all.
what it should NOT mean: you barely talk anymore. you feel like two completely different people, tied together by a frayed thread. youβre annoyed by eachotherβs flaws and donβt like to be around eachother
similarly:Β βrelationships are hard, they take a lot of workβ means that cooperation on a daily basis in both the practical and emotional realms takes conscious effort. you canβt coast on those honeymoon feelings forever, and you arenβt psychic, so you have to pay attention and communicate so you can honor each otherβs wants and needs.
it should notΒ mean that youβre fighting every two days or walking on eggshells to avoid the anger of an unreasonable partner or breaking your back trying to get the slightest sign of affection or respect from someone whoβs checked out and doesnβt care about you.
This is so, so important. Dont keep investing in a relationship thats not giving back. You deserve to be heard, you deserve at the very least communication.
best thing i learned today:Β βThe Loud Americanβ role in Japanese businesses
nobody asked but imma explain anyway
no idea how it came up, but my programming prof was talking about his friend who works for Nintendo Japan whoβs secondary role is The Loud American, and my prof explained what that was and how it came about
see, in Japan you do not talk back to your boss. you just donβt, even if they have stupid ideas and want the company to act on them. Like Nissan did sometime back. But since the other employees couldnβt do anything about this terrible idea that would ruin the company, they called in an American who had no reservations about telling the boss that their stupid idea was a stupid idea
and thatβs just become a role in Japanese businesses, where they keep an American on staff who plays up the American stereotype and tells the boss what the Japanese employees canβt or wonβt out of societal norms
dream job.
How much do they pay per hour for me to sit around and every so often storm into the bosses office and call his ideas stupid as fuck?
