In July of 2017, the REDZERO school where I learned a lot of digital media close your doors for me and many talented students. But these students don't gaved up of your dreams. Many teams were formated from that moment. I was invited to work on a indie game by a one of these team. This work was a test, I believe, to enters on the team. A queen who conquested your throne by your own hands. Is there a version of her in a armor, but both design was descarted, because were too serious for the chosen plot tone.
Five years ago, I started a project called DREAMERS. There my students learned about the basis of manga and I maked a twenty seven pages for the plot. They coulded be follow that plot with your characters based on himselfs. That project in on drawer for now, waiting for a better organization. Maybe It will rises in other language like animation. Only time will say...
College, 2006 ... I had classes with a painter named Dercy, at the end of the semester he brought a challenge: 50 drawings in 1 week. I had no idea what to do, most of the students were lost too. I was studying comic adaptations for cinematic language and found my workflow for this task. Finished pencil drawing with dry pastel chalk on paper for easy painting. There are 49 drawings left in this series ...
Before Photoshop there was paper and pencil and an enormous will to create, even without the conditions to pay for art classes. This often meant dealing with mistakes and criticisms. This drawing is from 1998, I worked all day in the public offices of the city to try to pay for a course in artistic and advertising design, which I dropped two months later. On that occasion, my teacher let me draw freely after several boring exercises. I was self-taught and found myself at my best, based on the opinion of my close friends. When I finished, she analyzed my drawing and showed me so many anatomy errors that my desk was small for such shame. That night I learned not only about bones, muscles and women's underwear but about humility.
I begin with this drawing inspired by the many hours of fun that SEGA's Golden Ax series provided to me in my childhood and now my son's childhood. It was a challenge to bring my style closer to that of a Warner Animation (Phil Bourassa) character designer whom I admire years ago. I have much to learn, but for now I am satisfied with this result from the sheet of paper to digital illustration.
