The biggest mistake people make is thinking fitness is all-or-nothing
[Insert cliche: it's a marathon, not a sprint]
Using jedi mind tricks ~~You're now craving a glass of ice cold water~~
self-care instruction manual
forgive yourself : it’s okay if you didn’t wake up early, go for a run, or finish that assignment. you’re only human
start slow : don’t set your expectations too high when you’re just starting off
keep learning : getting to where you want to be is a process. don’t expect perfection overnight
be kind to yourself : you’ll make mistakes along the way, but don’t let that stop you
Needed this today
Did you know that microbeads are too small to be filtered out of wastewater and make their way into our waterways? Then they make their way through the foodchain and into the food we eat. How gross to think the seafood on your plate contains beads that someone washed their face or body with. 🤢🤢
I just wanted a soap that smelled nice. I didn't know I needed to read the fine print until I saw the microbeads in my hand. Guess I won't be buying softsoap anymore.
@hdesignerzinc so many exercises
The graphic says batcave friendly so I'm sold

Motivation Monday
One mile warmup run
10-20 rounds (I'm working up to 20, I'm still doing 10):
5 pull ups
10 push ups
15 air squats
One mile coolddown run
As this gets easier and you work up to 20 rounds, add a weighted vest 🤙🏽🤯
Fridge goals
You need a sip of water right now
If you go to the gym and don't take a selfie- did it really count?
I used to be so self conscious about people seeing me work out that I avoided the gym and exclusively ran outside and did simple home workouts.
Now I love the gym and the people in it.
I was hitting a plateau as I have been doing the same workouts week after week. Even increasing the weight I lifted every session wasn't helping.
Then I saw a regular going back and forth from the free weights to the treadmill. I had to stop him on his way out one day and ask what he was doing. He was lifting one set and going to the treadmill for a one minute sprint to replace the one minute break between sets. I love running so I decided to try it. This is my new favorite workout!!
It's just HIIT. Nothing revolutionary, but it feels amazing to complete.
This is what my Friday sessions are now:
Warmup run of one mile
Next, I lift with one minute sprint between each set (3-4 sets of each; 8-12 reps in a set). You should be running so fast you are unable to talk comfortably.
Lat pulldowns
Superset of cable rows and one legged squat (one leg on a bench behind me)
Another superset of upright rows and skater lunges
Tricep row on a bench with one leg extended (good for the abs!!)
Decline bench Russian twists with 25 lb plate
Leg raises on a pullup bar
One mile cooldown
This workout is a killer. It takes about an hour and a half to complete but it feels phenomenal!!
I do lots of research for the best workouts, but you have to see some in action to really be sold on them.
I used to think gyms were full of judgemental meatheads, but everyone I've met is encouraging and welcoming. Once I witnessed a very strong man get a comment about how huge the dumbbells in his hands were by someone just starting out. He replied with words of encouragement and motivation. My heart melted.
If you are intimidated by the gym and the people in it, give it a shot- they will surprise you and maybe even inspire you!
I started my run facing west and when I looked behind me to cross the street I had to stop and take a picture 🌅
