what is your ellsworld/tamtori dynamic like? are they just similar to tomtord?
Omg! Great question!
Going by the true Ellsworld universe (lack of Red Leader, to the best of our knowledge), I’d say it’s definitely similar but GET VERY DIFFERENT VERY QUICKLY!
For one, the dynamics are pretty similar to what I’d posted for the Eddsworld dynamics (pre-Tord leaving):
I believe that all of the girls are really close with Ell (whose world is it?), and Matilda & Tam haven’t grown close yet. Why is this? Well, because Tori and Tam have these feelings they’ve been harboring since high school, ones which they’ve been trying to shove away for a long time now. Tori’s different than how she used to be with Tam, and Tamara can’t take that. She misses who Tori was, before the ever-growing competition between them and the constant arguments. So her attention is highly focused on Tori while she has her — she likes her, despite herself. She likes her a lot. But she tries to keep Tori at bay.
The biggest difference between my Ellsworld and Eddsworld universes in my mind comes in when Tori/Tord leaves. Tord leaves to get a job and live on his own, while Tori leaves to fulfill her dream of seeing the world. Tom, Matt, and Edd have no idea that Tord actually lives close nearby, and thus Tord grows bitter and lonely knowing his friends are so close by and he almost regrets leaving. He’s failing and feeling incredibly down until he stumbles into ReDeux, which we’ll get into some other day…
Meanwhile, Tori wants to leave. Not forever, but for a while. She and Tam — just like with my interpretation of Tom and Tord — have been having these common hookups without communication and SUPPOSEDLY without feelings (loud incorrect buzzer) that keep them at each other’s throats and thinking about each other constantly. Tori doesn’t tell Tam she’s leaving until there’s only a month before she goes. Ell knows already, and is preparing accordingly. She’s not as sad as Edd is about Tord’s move, because Tord is leaving the house for good, while Tori is taking a few years to travel but will pop in every once in a while.
Here’s where it’s important. Both Tord and Tori at this moment in time plan on trying to eventually attempt world domination. There’s a giant robot in the basement — one they’ve both just been working on because they’re curious and experimental, not necessarily because they’re EVIL (thanks a lot, Legacy). But they’re considering it. I think the key point in both of their stories — and thus the biggest difference between them — is Tom/Tam. When Tord/Tori decides to leave, Tom/Tam put a ton of distance between them. They never go out to smoke and drink together, respectively. They don’t talk.
But Tam, unlike Tom, finds Tori the night before she’s supposed to leave. She’s completely sober, and Tori’s surprised by that because Tam’s suddenly in front of her on the floor, stalling Tori’s packing and telling her she doesn’t want her to go without knowing how she feels.
So Tam confesses her feelings to Tori, who reciprocates them just as much, if not more. They’re able to be honest with each other, and Tori promises to come visit more often. She later will invite Tam to join her on a few trips, and because of her connection to Tam (as they agree to not necessarily be in a relationship, but neither of them see other people while they’re apart and constantly stay in touch) she is able to keep connections with Ell and Matilda.
There is no “The End” in my Ellsworld. Tori finds happiness and is unable to grow bitter and distant, going on adventures just like her friends continue to do while she’s away, and they all grow independent, which trumps Tomtord’s codependency that turns into a sort of resentful obsession with each other that THEN gets ripped away “no-contact” when Tord leaves. Tam and Tori really become their own people, and learn how to let others in. They stay in touch, and whenever Tori comes back, they make up for lost time.
So that’s my ROUGH interpretation of Ellsworld! The key point is the Tamtori plotline, which has a crazy butterfly effect on everything else in their universe. I need to flesh out both worlds much more, but this is the general consensus! If I ever drop a wtfuture Tamtori fic (like the one on which I’m working now…) it’s a different route than the canon one to me!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING! Ellsworld solos Eddsworld any day.
