“all night? have you danced yet?” she asked, unable to keep from blushing slightly at the compliment — he still had that effect on her after all this time. she knew it was crazy, but she never really got over him, not that she wasn’t trying; figuring that was what he wanted. “thank you,” she smiled, gesturing to the dance floor. “i don’t know if you want to or not, but do you—?”

zaire had never been to a dance, and so he was a bit more than awkward in such an occasion. he hadn’t danced at all, hadn’t really spoken to anybody — he mainly stood to the side, sipping at his beverage whenever he thought to. “this was a bad idea …” he murmured to himself, shaking his head slightly.

alani always loved events like this — it was always just fun to find any reason to dress up. now that she was here, though, it was a bit draining. she had yet to see any of her friends within the huge crowds that had formed. so when she saw zaire standing off to the side, she couldn’t help but feel relieved; he looked uncomfortable, though, and honestly? she wasn’t even sure if he would want her around. she had no idea what was happening with them, after all, but she figured she’d take the chance. “hey, you don’t look like you’re enjoying yourself,” she joked, with a light smile appearing on her face. “you look nice,” she complimented, completely genuinely.
