He squinted his eyes at Dig and smirked. âI promise. You wonât be.â He chuckled and shook his head before using his ice powers to make a replica of him. Once he finished making the human version of him, he decided to do another one of him in his fish form. âDone.â He stated looking back at Dig.
Dignan pointed from his eyes to Mason as a dramatic warning. He crossed his arms over his chest, bracing himself in case Masonâs powers did go haywire and he was accidentally frozen again. But as soon as the statue began to be constructed, Dignan made an audible gasp. âDude. Duuuuuuuude...â he stepped up to the statute, in complete awe. Dig turned back to Mason with a grin. âItâs me! Itâs me, you did me!â
ceridwcn:
when dignan stopped, ceridwen came to a quick halt as well. she twirled her finger a bit, absentmindedly playing with the bubbles of water at her sides. she stopped playing with the water as soon as she had room to speak, and zip hummed a, âdonât be sorry. i expected as much when i came here. i somewhat knew what my mother had done a few weeks prior, yet i still chose to attend ⊠it is fine.â she offered the slightest of smiles, and blu continued, ânonetheless, thank you. i hope you are right.â she nodded, laughing a silent laugh at his last remark. âindeed, you are. ursula is so been there, done that,â zip joked; ceridwen gave a playful roll of her eyes, flourishing her hand around a bit for dramatic effect. ââ but ⊠thank you, dig. i truly appreciate it â even if you did stalk me because of my eels.â she smiled.
it was still strange hearing her thoughts come out of one of the eels instead of her own mouth. he wondered what ceridwenâs voice would sound like if she had one. now that he knew she was ursulaâs child, he also wondered if her voice had been taken from her.Â
âi find that if you believe somethingâs right, then itâll eventually be right,â he said, with a wise tap of his nose. seeing her more carefree and even laughing made him feel better and he grinned. âyou could take it as a compliment, you know! the most popular girl in auradon,â he teased. âbut okay! on with the tour? auradon houses two of the finest institutions in the land, auradon prep and arcadia university --â he started, pointing out each one, spinning smoothly on his toes like a practised tour guide.
ncbleheart:
she looked up when he repeated her fatherâs old nickname for her. âi mean, yeah, if you want, i guess. i donât mind,â she said with a small shrug. she understood that her name was a bit of a mouthful. she folded one of her papers over, then tucked it into one of her folders. she looked up at him, squinting slightly as he went on about nicknames. she rolled her eyes at his laughter, though it was lighthearted. âhow about no?â she laughed a bit, herself. ââ dig. darcy and i donât need nicknames. weâre just ⊠darcy and astoria. weâre fine.â she shook her head in amusement.
he paused, pulling a face to show he wasnât completely sold on it. â...just as a heads up, i think iâll test out asty tori for a while.â admittedly, it was harder to smoothly say than her actual name but, in the boyâs mind, it was hilarious. at the squint, he wiggled his eyebrows, a knowing smile on his face. âfiiiiine. just darcy and astoria. darcy and astoria...â he repeated, wondering if she was catching on.Â
ceridwcn:
âvery true, very true. thatâs always a plus,â blu said, lightheartedly. ceridwen couldnât help but laugh a bit ( a silent laugh was still a laugh, after all ). âat least they were good sports about it. there are some people i know who would have flipped out.â
ceridwen blinked as the pebble went skipping across the pavement. she had to refrain from playing with the water bubbles at her sides ( a nervous habit of hers ), as to not make the boy any more wary of her than he probably already was. she nodded when he stated who his father was. âi figured as much â well, that you were probably at the dance. i wouldnât have guess who your father is, though,â zip admitted, and ceridwen ran a hand through her blonde and green-streaked hair. she looked up at him once he made his last comment. âi am ⊠not my mother,â zip said, âbut that wonât stop people from being wary of me. itâs reasonable, especially with the most recent ⊠midsummer ball, was it?â she nodded. âitâs understandable.â it wasnât what she wanted, not at all, but it was understandable.
he still couldnât help but feel bad. aside from the awkward first impression, they were getting along -- heck, he was even getting along with the eels. â...yeah, midsummer ball,â he nodded, confirming.Â
dignan stopped his walking, turning to face her, hands still in his pockets, awkward but sincere. âiâm sorry,â he continued, shaking his head, â...i mean, it already sucks just with the whole stigma of being an isle kid. and now, for you, it just kinda...extra sucks.â so much for serious thinking and saying the right things. âi dunno if this is gonna mean anything coming from me and the fact that i just stalked you because of your eels but...â he took a deep breath, âi know i donât like labels. or, at least...labels being put on me when iâm not comfortable with it. but, if you ask me, as soon as people get to talk to you, they wonât mind the whole âursulaâ thing. it might put them off at the start but once they get to know you, theyâll just see you...and blu and zip,â he shrugged, ânot ursula. i mean, itâs like -- psh -- ursula who, am i right?â he asked, trying for a smile.
guardianofjoy:
Ranon brightened when she saw the boy. She was pretty sure his name was Dignan (though, she never really knew how to pronounce that, just that she saw his name in the patient registry once or twice). âNever say never,â she singsonged before laughing. She nodded bashfully, though her smile never dimmed. âIt is! I found it in my locker along with the bag of chocolates! The gesture was so sweet and adorable! I mean, OBVIOUSLY, I want to know who it is. I just donât know where to start.â
Dignan snorted at the little song, shaking his head with a smile. He threw some MânâMâs into his mouth as he listened to her explanation -- âWhoa, what? Thatâs so crazy, like -- thatâs the stuff of literally ninety per cent of the movies Iâve watched! Crazy in a good way,â he added with an assuring grin. âCrazy in a âI seriously wish thisâll happen to me one dayâ but anyway -- did they sign it? Did they type it up, or use newspaper letters -- or, oh, if its handwriting then you could probably tell whose handwriting it is --â

ceridwcn:
âperfect. that will be great, thank you,â blu said, and ceridwen offered a small smile as she looked around at the buildings. she looked back to him when he began to explain the story, and she couldnât help but allow a small smile to take place upon her lips. âthat sounds very unfortunate,â zip said with a bit of a laugh. ceridwenâs expression had already returned to itâs usual void-of-emotion look. âdid any of the girls catch you?â he added.
she noticed the boyâs slight change in demeanor, and she stiffened a bit, herself. âursula,â zip stated, plain and simple. ceridwen looked away from dignan.
â...it wasnât that unfortunate. i mean, iâm alive,â he joked. âand yeah i was, actually -- one of them screamed when they saw me and the other was the one who shooed me out. they were both good sports about it, though.âÂ
he wished he never asked about her parents. both their reactions were inevitable, and dignan knew enough to realise it changed the tone of their conversation again. he pressed his lips together, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he walked. he kicked a pebble on the path. â...yeah,â he started, just to break the silence. âmy dadâs, um...flounder. he was with queen ariel when...it all went down. and i was at the ball...when that went down,â he shrugged. âso...thereâs that.â he paused, then spoke up in a stammer a second later. dignan wanted the chance to explain himself before she could decide anything against him. âbut, itâs -- iâm -- iâm not my dad. and i know youâre not your mom. so...â
ncbleheart:
âmhm. okay, dig,â she teased, laughing softly as he swatted at her pencil. she went back to her writing, though still listened intently as dignan spoke. crinkling her nose, she glanced up at dignan. âria?â she shook her head. she was a picky one, truly. she paused. ânow that i think about it, my dad used to call me stori. the nickname was lost before i even reached the age of ten, though.â she shrugged. âi mean⊠yeah, i guess, but âŠâ she would be lying if she said that darcy wasnât one of her closest friends, but she wasnât about to admit as much â not with their current situation, at least. ââ but dig is, like ⊠everyone calls you dig. darcy and i donât have nicknames.â
dignan pouted a little as she rejected yet another nickname of his creation. âstori? the story of stori,â he grinned.  âi could call you stori?â he asked, though he knew he was now going to change her name to âasty toriâ in his phone contacts. dignan stretched his arms up, then pushed his books forward so he could prop up his elbow on the table, leaning his chin on one hand. â...darcy and you could have, like, a million nicknames. for darcy, itâs like âdarceâ or âarcyâ or âdeeâ... âbig dâ,â he couldnât suppress his laughter for that one. âokay, okay, but seriously -- oh! you could even mix it up like a dynamic duo thing: dastoria? as-tor-cy?â he pulled a face, sounding out the syllables.
@ronanxmorgenstern said:Â â My tremendous intuitive sense of the female creature informs me that you are in trouble. â
dignan blinked at him. â well...youâre not wrong. i mean, iâm not in any real trouble or anything -- in fact, iâve actually been pretty happy and chill this past few week or so -- but i just...got that feeling. that âsomething badâs gonna happen soonâ feeling, â he sighed.Â
guardianofjoy:
Ranon popped one of the chocolates into her mouth, turning over the envelope in her hand over and over again. She hummed happily before taking the note out for the umpteenth time. As she read, an innocent, bashful little smile spread across her lips. âIâ I never got anything like this. Itâs the cutest thing in the world,â she said as she felt a presence arrive. She looked up and shrugged. âHave you ever had a secret admirer?â
Dignan ate out of his own bag of trail mix. It even had some fish feed he unapologetically loved. Wanting to find some place to sit so he could rest a while, he recognised one of the nurses from the hospital and sat next to her. He was ready to just sit in silence, but was more than welcome to engage in conversation -- especially when she looked so happy. âSecret admirer? Me? Nah, never. Is that, uh...â he wiggled his finger at the paper, grinning, âyour secret admirer?â
@txbydarling said:Â â The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem. Do you understand? â
â...wait, you lost me on the fourth -- fifth? -- time you said problem. What are wea talking about again?â
ice-prince-mason:
Mason paused and busted out laughing at the incident. âDig, that was years ago before I found a way to control my powers. I promise you. I have them under control now. Want me to prove it? Iâll make a sculpture that looks exactly like you or whatever the hell you want.â
â--youâre gonna make a sculpture that looks exactly like me and thatâs supposed to make me think Iâm not gonna be the ice sculpture in the end?â he asked, half-joking, half-serious. Dig fought off a smile, crossing his arms. âOkay, then, go ahead! Make my day,â he added, mimicking Clint Eastwood.
ncbleheart:
astoria smiled, glad to see her friend so happy. it was nice, how comfortable she was talking to dignan; forever study buddies, discussing the boy in her astronomy class. it was a rare, peaceful moment in the land of auradon. âthose red ears of yours say otherwise,â she teased, reaching over to poke his ear with her pencil. she laughed. she went back to her paperwork for the time being, up until dignan spoke again. âa nickname? no, my name isnât really ⊠made for nicknames? iâm not a fan of being called tori â and asty?â she answered, making a face. still, she didnât look up from her documents until the second question came. she paused. â⊠no?â she said slowly, finally looking up at him. âwhy would he?â she made another face, shaking her head.
âuh -- thatâs my fish biology still getting used to warmer temperatures.â he tried to say it coolly but it just came out like an awkward blurt instead. dignan laughed as she poked his ear, gently swatting the pencil away. the moment left him a little happier, though, spinning a pen between his fingers as he thought about the boy. boys. and now it was asty toriâs turn. âokay, what about ria?â he asked. at her question, he hummed lightly, shrugging. âi dunno, you guys are close friends, arenât you? close friends have nicknames. exhibit a: you call me dig. do you guys have nicknames?â
