RANDOM BOOK SANSA SCENES 18/?
Perhaps I will die too, she told herself, and the thought did not seem so terrible to her. If she flung herself from the window, she could put an end to her suffering, and in the years to come the singers would write songs of her grief. Her body would lie on the stones below, broken and innocent, shaming all those who had betrayed her. Sansa went so far as to cross the bedchamber and throw open the shutters … but then her courage left her, and she ran back to her bed, sobbing.
new puppy
“Mother will be home soon. Maybe we can ride out to meet her when she comes. Wouldn't that surprise her, to see you ahorse ?” Even in the dark room, Bran could feel his brother's smile
Bran IV — A Game of Thrones
Sansa quailed. Now, she told herself, I must do it now. Gods give me courage. She took one step, then another. Lords and knights stepped aside silently to let her pass, and she felt the weight of their eyes on her. I must be as strong as my lady mother
Sansa V — A Game of Thrones
“It was a mother's folly. Women are made that way.”
“A mother's folly ?” Lord Karstark rounded on Lord Umber. “I name it treason.”
“Enough.” For just an instant Robb sounded more like Brandon than his father. “No man calls my lady of Winterfell a traitor in my hearing, Lord Rickard”
Catelyn II — A Storm of Swords
Arya stalked away angry, and would have slammed the door if it hadn't been so heavy. Darkness had settled over Acorn Hall. A few torches burned along the walls, but that was all. The gates of the little castle were closed and barred. She had promised Harwin that she would not try and run away again, she knew, but that was before they started telling lies about her mother
Arya IV — A Storm of Swords
“I should have let you run into that bloody castle.”
“You should have,” she agreed, thinking of her mother.
[... ]
Aunt Lysa. The thought left Arya feeling empty. It was her mother she wanted, not her mother's sister
Arya XII — A Storm of Swords
“What should you be called ?”
“I... I could name myself after my mother...”
Sansa VI — A Storm of Swords
Sansa was confused. “I don't understand,” she said. “Where is Jeyne's father ? Why can't Ser Boros take her to him instead of Lord Petyr having to do it ?” She had promised herself she would be a lady, gentle as the queen and as strong as her mother, the Lady Catelyn, but all of a sudden she was scared again. For a second she thought she might cry. “Where are you sending her ? She hasn't done anything wrong, she's a good girl”
“She's upset you,” the queen said gently. “We can't be having that. Not another word, now. Lord Baelish will see that Jeyne's well taken care of, I promise you”
Sansa seated herself beside the queen. Cersei smiled again, but that did not make her feel any less anxious [... ] she could feel Littlefinger staring. Something about the way the small man looked at her made Sansa feel as though she had no clothes on. Goose bumps pimpled her skin
Sansa IV — A Game of Thrones
“I dreamt of a maid at a feast with purple serpents in her hair, venom dripping from their fangs. And later I dreamt that maid again, slaying a savage giant in a castle built of snow.”
Arya VIII — A Storm of Swords
The device painted on the shield was one Sansa did not know ; a grey stone head with fiery eyes, upon a light green field. “My grandfather's shield,” Petyr explained when he saw her gazing at it. “His own father was born in Braavos and came to the Vale as a sellsword in the hire of Lord Corbray, so my grandfather took the head of the Titan as his sigil when he was knighted”
“It's very fierce,” said Sansa
Sansa VI — A Storm of Swords
A mad rage seized hold of her. She picked up a broken branch and smashed the torn doll's head down on top of it, then pushed it down atop the shattered gatehouse of her snow castle. The servants looked aghast, but when Littlefinger saw what she'd done he laughed. “If the tales be true, that's not the first giant to end up with his head on Winterfell's walls”
“Those are only stories,” she said, and left him there
Sansa VII — A Storm of Swords
Giuditta che decapita Oloferne by Artemisia Gentileschi
Obsessing with fairy tales again and like... do people still not realize that Disney's Cinderella isn't supposed to be an adaptation of the Brothers Grimm's version ?
the fairy godmother, one of the sisters being named Javotte, the animals transformed into servants, horses and coachmen, the pumpkin it's all Perrault
if anything the Disney adaptation is darker than Perrault's version (as the father is dead, Lady Tremaine literally locks up Cinderella, her step-sisters rip her mother's dress to shreds and Cinderella do not forgive them/take her step-sisters to live with her at the royal palace)
The sansa stark experience
the idea of a reliable narrator is so dishonest
basically how is it possible to have a good enough memory or clear enough conscience to tell a story 100% truthfully and because of it not being possible how is it fair to expect it from a narrator. If we accept all humans come with a bias for whatever how can we expect a narrator to discard it in a story that's full of humans making choices and decisions. also I think we think about a certain evil when we hear about an unreliable narrator like their sole purpose in existence is to lie and deceive, and sometimes it is, but sometimes the unreliable narrator is so obsessed with being truthful they get lost in trying to lose their bias. or they forget because when you forget your brain doesn't just go blank, it often makes shit up to fill up that space when we want to recall a certain memory... Is the narrator evil for working like this and forgetting fragments of the story? or having a bias? or stakes?because that makes them unreliable? what I meant is, it's dishonest to expect something so unrealistic only so we can feel comfortable in the truthful/objective version of the story we get. or something
also the story is never truthful or fully objective
thinking about Sansa haters using the unreliable narrator thing as a gotcha
darling every single pov is an unreliable narrator
Welcome to Sansa Stark Week 2025
We invite you to share art, edits, metas, and any other type of content pertaining to the prompts above!
Starting October 1-7th!
Use the tag #SansaWeek2025 so we can reblog your content. We look forward to seeing Sansa fans contribute to this week!
And here is a more in depth explanation of the prompts:
girl(sansa) lured in by a very dark uncle figure(petyr) with a flower(Dontos/sansa calls themselves jonquil/florian like the flower Persephone was picking) to the underworld (the vale) and is given a pomegranate to eat to stay forever (which she rejects in favour of a pear) Her mother (Cat) is deeply morning the loss of her daughter (in the same book Stoneheart hangs a man named petyr furthering the link)
fans on twt : we dont read so this means nothing
Jeyne : Beric Dondarrion is so hot
Sansa : Girl he's 22 he's good for the nursing home
I love how Arya was so ready to throw fists with Ned Dayne when he dared to imply that Catelyn hadn't been the only woman Ned Stark had loved in his life
He looked at her uncomfortably. “My aunt Allyria says Lady Ashara and your father fell in love at Harrenhal—”
“That's not so. He loved my lady mother.”
“I'm sure he did, my lady, but—”
“She was the only one he loved.”
It's a sweet, little reminder that even though Arya was forced to mature quickly due to her situation, she is still just a kid.
exactly she's just a kid with kid's dreams and a kid's outlook on things like love and that's okay
i also love this passage as a reminder of how much Arya loves her mother (for me asos is the Arya is her mother's daughter book) and is extremely offended at the idea of Cat being dishonored by Ned having loved someone else even before marrying her

another Edmure post
I love how all the characters call Baelish "Littlefinger" because Edmure said so
because yes Edmure Tully was the only one to fulfill his duties by protecting the smallfolk (while Robb and Brynden were ready to sacrifice them for the benefit of potentially trapping Tywin)
"My people. They were afraid"
EDMURE TULLY THE MAN YOU ARE
