“Trust me, I know, and you never let me forget it…” She teases, the blonde only pulling back when he does, a soft sigh leaving her as she clears her throat. “I guess not – it’s just life y’know … you c a n ‘t predict it.” Ally always did have a rather unique way of looking at life as a whole. In this case, it was absolutely no different – she felt as if everything happened for a r e a s o n, whether or not she understood, or even knew, the reasons behind it.
Ally nods and looks up at him, before tilting her head as she listens intently to everything that was coming from her best friend. “Everything happened as it was supposed to … Our past lead you to SAM and we both have families. Maybe I was a l w a y s meant to end up alone – I mean, do I love my husband? Yes. Do I wish I could understand? Yeah, but right now instead of focusing on him, and debating on whether or not I ended up with the right man, I gotta take care of myself… however it is that I do that.” Ally states with a soft chuckle and a slight roll of her shoulders. “And that soft spot you speak of – I know… you’re mine too. All I ever wanted was you to be u n b e l i e v a b l y and to have everything, I’m glad you got it.”
“Yeah, you can’t predict it, but you sure can change whatever happens to your favor. In this case... It’s exactly what you’re doing. I’m just relieved that you’re putting yourself first with this entire situation.” Nathan knew how she was when certain things were out of control -- she would constantly wonder what she did despite the fact that it was never her fault.
“No, you were not meant to be alone. Don’t say that.” Nathan says, looking down at her as he keeps his arm tight around her shoulder, squeezing it gently as they continue to walk. He missed this -- their venting sessions. “Focusing and taking care of yourself should never take a backseat. And it p a i n s me to hear that it’s taken Larry to cheat on you for you to realize that.” One of the many things that Nathan loved about Ally when they first met was that she was always so independent and despite what she went through, she still managed to have the mentality that she mattered most to h e r s e l f and the fact that she lost sight of that along the way made him frown. “You’ve done it before, Ally. You can do it again. And I still want you to be happy. I still want you to have everything you’ve always wanted. That love and want for you to be happy never disappeared just because I got married, you know? You’re my best friend. I want to see you happy.”
