"Iām wonderful. I always am. What are you apologizing for? It was my fault,ā Alec casually asserted. āMy fault, but who cares? It was all in the past. Letās not think about that. Iām going to do a backward figure-8.ā

"Iām wonderful. I always am. What are you apologizing for? It was my fault,ā Alec casually asserted. āMy fault, but who cares? It was all in the past. Letās not think about that. Iām going to do a backward figure-8.ā
"maybe you should! you could also try a fun sport, you know? like, sayābadminton, cycling, beach volleyball, swimming, skatingād'you know that dancing is considered a sport?"
"that's fucking shitty. my methods of dealing with this stuff are probably not your style, so... why don't you report him?" he ponders it for a moment. "i could report him for you!"
"NO, no, no! i'm not yelling at you!" alexander explained with visible amusement (per always). "my voice is like this all the time! i have a perky voice."
"Sorry abou' that!" He laughed, guilty about his mistake but nonetheless amused. "Are you threatening to break my bones? Won't scare me! I play team sports, Lou. I lost all capacity for fear during my first game of water polo." He took one of her hands. "But I'm gonna help you anyway, because I'm a wonderful friend." He relatively slowly went back to performing figures.
alexander laughs. āthat is tragic!ā he cares for each of his friends, the redhead included; but he rarely hesitates to laugh at anecdotes, even if theyāre stories concerning forms of pain. ādid you toss the beer in their face? you should give other bars a try, spence!ā
āTell your teacher I donāt need help. Iām busy right now; and Iām gonna have to request that you kindly leave, kid!ā
āIf you ask her, a psychologist, sheād say thereās a reason why I go around bashing her occupation.ā He appeared unruffled; but there was a hint of acidity in his tone, as if conveying a message along the lines of Thereās a lot that you donāt know about us, kid. "Barack Obama. John Tyler. Warren Gamaliel Harding. Lyndon Baines Johnson. James Buchanan.ā He added to throw her off, āBarnes.ā
āYep!ā He paid for a ticket. Although he didnāt mind her taking his hand at all, he let go so he could jump to the ice-skating part. āYou said you were just kiddinā about having never done this before, right?!ā He rushed to the rink after putting his skates on. With exuberant noises of enjoyment, the athletic young man gracefully performed figures on the ice.
"Good! Psychology is stupid. Who cares why my neighbor is obsessed with Lara Croft? Who cares why one's adolescent child is always on her Wii? Who cares why I never wear certain shades of orange? The answer to the last question, by the way, is that certain shades of orange are terrible. But ask the closest therapist and they'll probably tell you it's because I have deep-seated problems rooted in traffic cones. People are the way they are; who cares." He continued. "I am kidding about Fifth Harmony, though. If it relieves you, I'm quite knowledgeable about pop culture."
"It really isn't difficult, kiddo; but, like I said, I don't wanna think about any Math for the rest of the day! If you had paid attention to what I was saying earlier...!"
"I wasn't blaming you!" he answered sincerely, then joked: "Y'all have gotta stop putting words in people's mouthsāonly I can do that! "Me, not wear anything under pastor's clothes? I'm wearing underwear, of course. Do you want me to skate near-nude or somethin', Lou?" He was pretending to be appalled by the idea's wantonness, but there was a clear undercurrent of flirtation. One could almost hear a playful wink in his voice. He quickly changed into skating clothes and joined her outside. "Let's go." As he walked, he offhandedly queried, "Have you gone ice-skating before, by the way?"
"A gun the size of your upper body?" echoes Alexander. He's discernibly more thrilled and impressed than, as he perhaps should be, sympathetic. "Whoa! What did you do back in the day? I didn't mean to come off as though I was trying to 'roast' you, sir. I was being friendly." (Believe it or not.)
āAdmit it? Sure. I like spending time with you.ā
Alec turned around briefly with a smirk. āOf course I am. I told you: I can do anythiāā
The impulsive young adult nearly crashed his car into a different one. Flippantly, he giggled and corrected himself, āWell, I canāt not almost get into a car accident if I glimpse at the person Iām speaking with instead of keeping my eyes on the road; but thatās among the rare exceptions! Weāre here.ā He unfastened his seatbelt. āYou get out first, Lou." He admitted, "I actually haven't got proper clothes underneath my clerical attire. I'll change in the backseat. No looking, hey."
"Well, what are you waiting for? Thereās a vending machine full of Capri Suns right around the corner!ā Alec quips, standing up. āSeriously, though. You know I get a real kick out of tricking security guards into letting me in bars and bartenders into serving me alcohol, but I donāt want alcohol right now.ā Maybe heās worried his friend may be taken advantage of by some older creep if they both find themselves with liquor-impaired judgment, but itās not his instinct to articulate such things. Instead, he puts on a devious smile and propounds, āI have some friends whoād let us in this high-end restaurant. Lots of wealthy gentlemen patrons.... Bet thereās loads of delicious stuff in there.ā Remembering his own disinclination to wait for answers, he starts to walk and gestures for Ariel to follow. āMy treat! Come on!ā
