Dark Order
✱ XDARKSIDED ✱
“Ah, but you stand so close to that power, don’t you, Aldora?” Kylo teased her, toyed with her, reminding her that he held the galaxy in his hand and she would only ever be second to his might. He wanted to keep her humble, yes, but he also wanted to keep her on his side, infuriating though she could be.
“Wouldn’t it be wise to serve your Supreme Leader faithfully and truly, that he might use some of his power for your benefit?” Again he smiled, and his eyes gleamed. With the merest tilt of his hand he induced the slightest pressure on her throat, not even enough to cause discomfort–just to remind her.
Of course he could always use his hand for that, at this range: he could press against her, pull her close, let his lips crash against hers. He felt every urge that radiated from her. He caught glimpses of her thoughts. How long would it take, he wondered, before all of her suppressed desire swelled and burst forth?
He turned away, releasing any hold on her, and finished his drink. He wouldn’t give her that satisfaction. Not yet. But soon. Very, very soon.
“I’ll come by your quarters later to check up on you, General. We’ll see if that poison in your drink worked.” He let the words hang in the air, then shot her a devious look. “I’m joking, Hux. I wouldn’t poison my best general–not at a time like this, when I need you at my side.”
He was careful not to specify the nature of that need.
“I’ll have the ship prepared for departure. We’ll discuss final plans shortly. Over dinner, perhaps?”
THE wind nearly rushed out of her after he mentioned poison. He -- ! Her brows furrow and momentarily, the sensual desire that filled the air disappears. But then he mentioned that he needed her, and her smirk returned. Okay. The chess game continues. “Dinner -- my quarters. Three hours. I’ll have the chefs prepare something delicious.” She was gone before he could say anything, the action intentional. In a smooth motion, she scooped up her coat and slipped it back on, ensuring that Kylo got a full view of her shoulders and back as she left. ✱ ✱ ✱ Aldora spent the first two hours packing, assembling outfits for various occasions -- speeches, meetings, relaxing (assuming such a thing existed). Each item was folded neatly, all packed in sleek pieces of luggage, a testament to Aldora’s orderliness. For dinner, she’d redressed -- femenine, but Hux style. Her red hair was pulled back in a low chignon, and to match, a red dress with flowing sleeves and a cape. Simple black heels finished the look. Clean, crisp, and neat -- Hux’s trademarks, but still pretty, still feminine, and dare she say -- a bit sensual. The chefs and servants were right on time -- five minutes before Kylo’s arrival -- and arranged their dinner on the table, each piece of flatware in perfect order, polished to perfection. Aldora had her own personal bar, so she needed no alcohol to be provided. The chefs and servants all left when they had finished setting up, and Aldora checked her appearance in a mirror one last time. One minute left -- he had better be on time.

DANGEROUS was one of several choice words that could be used to describe this situation, along with thrilling, exciting, and maybe even a little surreal. Sometimes Kylo wondered why it was that he and Hux hated each other so much. They were very much alike: both were ambitious, strong-willed, unstoppable in their own ways. Both of them were fully committed to the First Order and its mission, above all else. Perhaps they were a little too alike. Maybe that was it.
Or maybe it was this tension between them, and the fact that they had never done anything about it.
“Well. Maybe I wouldn’t have gotten this far this quickly,” Kylo said, returning Hux’s playful jab. He knew exactly what she was doing, and he couldn’t help but play along. The Dark Side was fueled by passion, and what better passion than hatred mixed with… desire. “Just don’t forget which one of us can choke the other from across the room.”
He grinned, his eyes flashing at all the possible implications of that statement.
TO reply with ‘but why so far away’ would have been witty, but it also would have felt as though Aldora were giving up and admitting to their game. She would do neither. Aldora knew where his breaking points were -- she’d been thrown into walls often enough to know when she’d pressed a button -- and so she would not be the first to break. “Regrettable that I do not have the same power. So useful,” she said, sighing in what was probably genuine disappointment, for reasons more nefarious than sexual. “Maybe, if I had that...” Her jaw tightened. If she had, maybe she would be Supreme Leader. Was she simply not good enough? Her and Ren were so similar. Was her lack of Force sensitivity what had kept her from leading? Because she didn’t have the power to move rocks, or choke people from across the room? Those icy eyes landed on Kylo’s again. This close, she could see the detail in his red ones. She had been dealt the card of right hand. Well, fine. But she would not make it easy on him. It was difficult now, particularly, with the man so very, very close. She was almost sure she could smell him. Up close like this, his towering physique became much more real -- he was all angles. “Well, Supreme Leader. Now that we’ve got it all figured out, I would like to return to my chambers. I must ready.” Translation: Your move, Kylo.

rebelspark:
The transmission had been picked up immediately by the Resistance. Despite the outdated technology the survivors had scrounged together from what few benefactors they could still count on, the signal had been clear. Four words, all from a voice unmistakable to the fighters. They had heard it announcing their supposed doom often enough that General Hux had been starting to sound like a broken record.
This new track of hers was the talk of the base.
Naturally, each of the surviving pilot’s was quick to point out that there was only one among them that the message could possibly refer to. All fingers pointed to Poe Dameron. Every single person on site had an opinion on the matter. It was a trap, it was fake, it was every possible option under the sun. The consensus appeared to be that investigation was required. To reply to the alleged General’s broadcast, Poe himself recorded a message to be sent out to the stars.
“General Hux? Your mama miss me that bad?” The transmission had NOT been checked over before he had sent it out. The General could scold him about that one when he got back to the base. “She wants to see me, she’d better play nice this time. Rendezvous at the following coordinates tomorrow, 0900 standard time. We’ll be monitoring, so no funny business.”
The latest X-Wing in a long line of his had been fuelled up and shot into orbit an hour later. The pilot had no intention of showing up at the rendezvous point before the General. It was a quiet town, as few people as they could find, all of which loyal to the Resistance. With a comm-link to their spies, Poe would monitor from afar, only daring to venture closer if the General was flying solo.
A meeting on the ground. Loathe as she was to admit it, he wasn’t stupid. She was beginning to think that she was. Flying all the way out here, fueled by rage (an emotion she often scolded the new Supreme Leader for displaying so blatantly)? What a reckless, impulsive -- She was snapped from her thoughts by the sound of her ship’s door opening, the hiss ushering her out onto the ground. Aldora took a deep breath to steady herself. She wasn’t sure what she would say yet, but she didn’t care. The words would come. Quickly, she checked her appearance: collar stiff as a board, jacket buttons perfect, boots shined to perfection, gun in holster, and not a hair out of place. Lastly were her gloves, which she slipped on with intent. More than once, they had protected her pale skin from bloodstains. Perhaps they’d be doing it again soon. The coordinates had led to a seemingly empty town, though Hux knew she was likely so heavily monitored that empty would likely be an incorrect description for the place. She hoped that each and every person listening could hear the deliberate click, click, click of her boots as she exited her ship and set foot on the ground. The First Order wouldn’t -- she’d disabled any trackers and recorders that her ship had. “Show me the Resistance pilot. If he is not out here in a second, I will alert the First Order and have this entire blighted system annihilated.”

Dark Order
xdarksided:
“Feel free. We have all the power in the galaxy–and all the alcohol, too.” He sipped the last of his drink, watching her closely, like a cat watching its prey. Or perhaps she was the cat and he was the prey–but that uncertainty, that back and forth struggle for power, was what gave their partnership its unique… appeal.
Kylo sidled up next to Hux, his black cloak especially dark compared to the bright red of her shirt, though his eyes–shifting, burning shades of gold and yellow and red–seemed to match her perfectly.
“I could use a refill myself, actually,” he said, standing just a little too close to her and allowing his calloused fingers to trail over hers when the bottle was passed. This was yet another way of toying with her, another part of their game… or was it something more?
Sometimes even Kylo didn’t understand his own motivations, not when it came to Hux. His very hatred of her was what fueled… something else. Something that burned hot and deadly. He smiled as he poured his drink, then lifted his glass to clink it against hers.
“To the First Order, and the dawn of a New Empire.”
THEY were standing much too close together. Every alarm in her mind was going off -- the closer he got to her, the more likely she was to be thrown into a wall. His fingers trailed over hers. Oh. Perhaps not. There’s something vicious in her eyes, not quite as vicious as the red ones he has, but something equal as hungry, challenging...wanting. She should bleach her brain at the thoughts that hint at the edges of her mind, but she can’t. He is tall, figure powerful and imposing. She was both drawn to that power, and fearful of it, in the most admirable sense of the word. She was not afraid of him; she admired him, loathe as she was to admit it. He had been given the gift of power since birth, and Hux hungered for power. In turn, it seemed, she hungered for him. “To you, Supreme Leader,” she purred, catching on to the specific nature of the game they had been playing all along. “To you, Kylo Ren. Who, might I add, would not have gotten this far without the help of his regretfully loyal right hand, the marvelous General Aldora Hux.” She laughed -- she was teasing and challenging all at once. The words may have seemed light, but Kylo would surely recognize the dark desires laced between the lines.

Kylo allowed himself the briefest smile. They were making progress, and he decided that he would count this latest exchange of words a victory for him. The sour expression on Hux’s face was just the cherry on top–though he supposed he should have been trying to get on her good side, rather than constantly antagonizing her. Then again, that was assuming she had a good side.
“Yes, planning is your department. I’d say we can manage a month, maybe two, provided we make our presence known in key systems–nowhere we’ll take a direct attack, but everywhere people might need a reminder that the First Order is now the supreme power in the galaxy.”
Kylo had a strategic mind, and he had invaded enough other minds to understand people’s motivations, but there was a reason Hux was a general. He trusted her with strategy–as much as he hated to admit to himself that he trusted her with anything.
“We’ll take the Superior itself. It’ll be a victory tour, of sorts, and a demonstration of our might.” It was a good thing that Snoke had ordered a backup of the Supremacy constructed, and under Kylo’s leadership, the vessel had been modified and improved upon: its shields were now resistant to hyperspace attacks, its armor allowed for ablative breakaway, and the ship itself functioned as a mobile city, populated by millions of First Order officers and troopers, and defended by kyber-crystal cannons. It was a masterpiece.
“Direct only our scouting vessels to hunt down the Resistance, and devote the bulk of our cruisers to holding chokepoints and hyperspace lanes. If any significant Resistance bases are identified, we can deploy a handful of cruisers to destroy it. For now we need to focus on filling the power vacuum left by the destruction of the Republic. Show the people that we can rule effectively–and that we will bring order to this galaxy, whether they like it or not.”
Kylo watched Hux cross her legs, watched her lips touch her glass, watched her drink deep. He fought the urge to lick his lips. She was his political rival, yes, but he still admired her mind, her ambition… her, in general. He didn’t like that she had this effect on him, but he couldn’t help it. She was a magnificent woman.
“How does all that sound, general?”
THE Superior. The very name of the beautiful ship brought a true smile to Hux’s full lips. It had been lying in wait, hoping that there would be an opportunity to use it. Well. The time had come. Hux found herself strangely gleeful. On the inside, at least; outside was the same stone cold expression she always had fixed upon her face. “It sounds fine,” she said disinterestedly, looking away from Kylo. “I’ll have everything organized in due time.” It would be easy enough. Hux had a plan for this, as she had a plan for nearly everything. She was mulling it all over when she realized that Kylo was still staring at her. The intensity of his red gaze really did burn like fire; she could feel it on her pale skin. With a smirk, she turned her icy stare to him. My, my. Supreme Leader or not, Force user or not, Kylo was still a man, it seemed. ( she hadn’t been stared at like this in what felt like an eternity. it was thrilling. ) She’d be a fool to lie and say that Kylo Ren didn’t boast one of the most attractive faces she’d seen in all her life - the plush lips, the angled cheekbones, the sharp jaw, and that unfairly luscious hair made for one handsome creature. She hated that about him, too. Aldora tapped the arm of her chair with a finger, staring at him as if she were trying to figure out what move to make next in a very tense game of chess. In a way, she almost was. Everything had to be calculated, cold, mechanical with Kylo. She downed the rest of her drink, setting the glass on her chair when finished. “Order will be easy enough to bring to the galaxy,” she said, standing to her full height as she shrugged her coat off with ease, now donning her officer’s boots, pants, and that red shirt that stuck out especially well now. Once more, she picked up the now-empty glass. “I’m going to refill."
“You’re such a bitch.”
