“It is a little chilly. Fall seasons and whatnot…”
“That doesn’t really answer my question.”
Betty rolled her eyes and let out a sigh, realizing she wasn’t going to win. She was painfully aware of how stubborn Aldrich could be at times, and more times than not it was just easier to not fuss over him.
—- “Alright, fine. Go shower. But please, Aldrich, come see me when you’re done. We’re trying to fix a problem here, not mask it with cold water.”
He knew he’d won when Betty let out a sigh. Betty was nearly as stubborn as he was, and if it had been a more minor issue, he likely would have caved first, but he wasn’t about to let her burn herself for no reason.
“Thank you, Betty, I’ll be right out.”
Aldrich wasn’t going to acknowledge the last bit, for obvious reasons, kissing the side of her head before disappearing into the bathroom.
휴..;
“I don’t understand how you expect me to help you if you don’t even let me TOUCH you, Aldrich.”
She said with a slight sigh, trying her hardest not to get frustrated with the other. After all, he wasn’t wrong. He was once normal. A normal man who felt normal pain, who knew what it was to get b u r n e d.
“You know I d o n ’ t care about getting a little warm.”
“I don’t expect you to help with this, ---- well, at least not right NOW.”
She worried about him, and he couldn’t entirely blame her for that, but it wouldn’t help anything. It was just burn h e r too.
“I care. You can take a look after I shower.”

“To be fairly honest with you, I don’t think you even know what “f i n e” is. You’re burning up, Aldrich.” She stated as she slowly moved her hand to his head. Betty always the worst case scenario when it came to Killian. How could she not? He threw caution to the wind in every situation, while she tried to think of every possible outcome- Most of the time that outcome being bad.
------“You know I was normal once,”
That wasn’t entirely true-- needing a cane to walk wasn’t exactly normal either. Regardless, he moved to dodge her hand, bending at the knee and moving slightly to one side. If he was BURNING, he didn’t want her to hurt herself.
“I’d tell you if something was wrong, wouldn’t I? I just need to shower and cool off.”

As much as Bruce despised it, he couldn’t deny the way he felt the need to protect others, even if it was from himself. Honestly, Bruce wasn’t even sure if it was his need to protect them, or his need to not want another mess to clean up. The young doctor didn’t quite care for other people, but above everything, he didn’t want to be found. Changing and killing God knows how many people was not considered hiding.
He relaxed, keeping in mind that the other had no real reason to hurt him. Changing Bruce would ruin both of their plans, and the other man seemed to be a man who liked to stick to his agenda. “What do you want me to do?” He finally said, his voice defeated as he looked to the other.
Aldrich waited for a response, but the doctor’s change in expression assured him of his answer. He may have been slightly out of practice since going into hiding himself, but Aldrich was nothing if not a brilliant motivational speaker-- though his methods were a tad unorthodox. In his experience, morals were very flexible under the right strain.
“The Extremis formula is still incomplete, and the treatments that we already have in the making are becoming less effective on volatile subjects,” he kept his tone mundane, detached, as if he was discussing a problem with his car and the increasingly imminent, explosive death of himself and at least a dozen others, “And, as you can probably guess, there’s been a shortage of scientists willing to work on the issue. Now that’s where you come in,” he smiled, an expression of good faith mocked by the predatory nature of their situation, “You like giving a helping hand, don’t you, Doctor Banner?”
Doctor Who — Twelfth Doctor Quotes {Sentence Starters}
“How long can you hold your breath?”
“Welcome to the most dangerous place in the universe.”
“Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?”
“Look, it’s only got a bed in it. Why is there only a bed in it?”
“There’s something extremely wrong with everybody else sitting in this room.”
“I’m a ______, not a childminder.”
“You’ll find that it’s a very small universe when I’m angry with you.”
“But what is so important that I can’t just tell myself what I’m thinking?”
“Do you happen to know how to fly this thing?”
“Winning is all about looking happier than the other guy.”
“The only way anyone can live in peace, is if they’re prepared to forgive.”
“I can complain about things. I can really complain about things, now.”
“I’m an amnesiac robbing a bank, why would I be ok?”
“Never be cruel, and never be cowardly, and if you are, always make amends.”
“I was being chased by a giant dinosaur, but I think I managed to give the slip.”
“Never trust a hug. It’s just a way of hiding your face.”
“Have you seen the size of human brains? They’re hilarious.”
“Well, you’re very similar heights. Maybe you should wear labels.”
“Oh, she can’t post that! She can’t put pictures of me online!”
“Stories are where memories go when they’re forgotten.”
“Shut up. I was talking to the horse.”
“It’s like I’m trying to tell myself something. Like I’m trying to make a point.”
“Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?”

Bruce was almost in awe of he situation. There was no way this was actually happening to him. Was this guy being serious? “I can’t even get a hold of my own problem, and you want me to work on yours? Are you actually insane?” He asked, a bit of concern growing in his voice. “I don’t know anything about your work,” he lied. He had been reading up on the program, thinking it may be able to help his own problem. “All I know is that you are playing with fire in the quite literal sense.”
Bruce looked down at his own lap for a moment, pulling at his hands to try and get a bit more comfortable. This was all wrong, all completely wrong. He was supposed to be in hiding. He was supposed to finally be safe and away from the craziness of his life as he tried to solve the problem of his genetic code. “I’m not the right man for the job.” He said with an almost sadness to his voice. “I’m a failed bio chemist. You need someone else.”
Killian could pinpoint the precise moment the doctor realized the gravity of his situation, lips parted, eyes widening behind the bent metal frames of his glasses, searching for an escape, “Insane? No,” Just desperate, his treacherous mind whispered, “You’d be surprised what you can do with proper motivation.” he gestured vaguely, taking a seat on the other bed, “Oh, I’m not to concerned about that, you’re a fast learner Doctor Banner,” he didn’t believe him, to be entirely honest, but that wasn’t relevant.
Aldrich folded his hands in his lap as he patiently waited for Bruce to process. He stood when the doctor spoke again, chuckling and shaking his head slightly, “I think I should be the judge of that, if you succeed I’ll let you go, unharmed and you can get back to whatever you call a life, if not,” he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, “Well, let’s just hope you succeed, you can’t transform without killing everyone in the building, and if you run try and run--- I’ll catch you.”

Bruce tried to forget about the fact that all he could hear the entire trip was shitty pop music that was way too overplayed and completely awful, but he digressed. At least they weren’t in the car anymore, and he could finally start trying to get away from his captor. His very snarky, rude, yet strikingly powerful captor.
“This is no way to treat a guest, you know. You could have at least gotten a better hotel. I’m dissapointed in you for this- I want you to know that.” Bruce jabbed, sitting awkwardly in the bed. He moved around the bed a bit, trying to make himself as comfortable as possible. “What do you even want with me? What can I do for you that you can’t just do for yourself?” He asked, growing genuinely curious.
By the time Bruce returned to consciousness, Killian was already rifling through his suitcase. He’d been living out of one for the last few months, the U.S. government certainly wasn’t aware of all his assets, but enough of them to pose a problem when it came to finding a decent, permanent residence. Especially considering he had a hostage now.
“Compared to some to a tour overseas this might as well be the Hilton, I don’t know why you’re complaining,” Killian snipped right back, his back to Bruce as he took off his shirt, draping a damp towel over his shoulders to cool him down, “The Extremis is still unstable, given your knowledge of medical science and super soldiers, I thought it might be worth it to get a second opinion.” he said, shrugging a shoulder.

Aldrich doesn’t like to think in terms of regrets. He considers it a burden to natural progress— if Bruce asked, he would tell him that he was sorry, but he honestly doesn’t regret kidnapping Bruce.
If he has any regrets about Bruce, he regrets not having met him during a time in his life he could have made better choices.

“I want you to steal me away, that’s what I want you to do.” “From your life?” “Mmhmm.” “Get in a car, start driving, and see where it took us.”
if karma doesn’t hit you, I gladly will.

tony smiles sweetly and nods approvingly as he’s picked up, tucking his face against killian’s neck and bouncing one foot in the air as he squirms and tries to curl himself up closer to killian.
‘ ‘m sorry, daddy…. –do we have to go to bed again, now..? where’s the ice cream??
killian gives tony a light squeeze, hoping to settle him down slightly as he bounces. he presses a short kiss to the side of tony’s head (the only part of it he can reach at the moment).
‘ i’m already awake i guess, i put it up on the top shelf where you can’t quite reach it.

The sleep was long, or it seemed that way anyways. It was heavy at least. Unfortunately, it was the best sleep that Bruce had in months. The dreams weren’t as horrible as usual, not that he could really wake up if he tried. The only thing Bruce could do is sit there and be in complete relaxation, mentally screaming at himself for not releasing his rage.
Of course Bruce knew deep down that soon enough the man who kidnapped him would see the Other Guy’s rage, but at the moment he knew that he had to at least try to keep a lid on his temper.
What seemed like a few millenniums later, Bruce awoke. The cool metal was piercing his skin, ensuring a few marks to be left. He let out a soft groan and lifted his head, trying to figure out his surroundings. “Next time maybe try not attempting to kill me. Can you do that? Thanks, asshole.”
Aldrich eyed the doctor for another short moment before rubbing the back of his neck and turning on the radio. It was going to be a long ride, and quiet wasn’t exactly the chemist’s forte. Moments of silence tended to uncover the dead’s final resting place in the back of Aldrich’s mind, a very large, growing cemetery.
After channel surfing for a few seconds, he settled on a local station
“Hunt you down eat you alive, just like animals, animals. Like animals. Maybe you think that you can hide. I can smell your scent for miles . Just like animals, animals. Like animals-mals. Baby I'm---- So what you trying to do to me----- It's like we can't stop, we're enemies; but we get along when I'm inside you, eh. You're like a drug that's killing me, I cut you out entirely---- But I get so high when I'm inside you...:”
He nodded approvingly and left it, it drown out his thoughts well enough, it was nearly an hour before he arrived at a decent looking hotel, checking in after giving the guy in the lobby a bracing lie about his buddy’s bachelor party. He had barely settled when he heard Bruce’s voice, “If I had been trying to kill you, you’d already be dead.”
