I keep coming back to the idea that if quynh was the only 'new' character in the second movie and they had saved uma thurman and henry golding for the third, the movie would've been able to breathe so much more.

We'd get more of the character dynamics between main cast and how quynh fits into it. the nicky/joe disagreement could get some real air time. maybe we get some more flashbacks. Hell bring uma thurman in at the very end as a reveal of who's really behind the scenes! Leave in the whole end sequence at the nuclear facility and joe, nicky, and nile being taken and andy v discord but don't tell us the why -- that would be an INSANE cliffhanger and a great mystery for the next film.

Save the whole nile can end immortality thing for the next one too cause that lore drop/plot point could support its own movie without the distractions of "quynh's back/booker's back/new but old immortals/discords motives"

and keep booker alive so he can help the girls save everybody. maybe that's my sad french boi bias coming through lol -- but hey booker getting to see andy with quynh after only knowing her withOUT quynh?? wouldn't hate to see that (but if you must kill him leave the noble sacrifice for the third movie, just let the movie breathe and let me keep the french boi)

I've got booker ramblings i need to get out beware spoilers for the old guard 2

the trailers/clips had me so concerned this was gonna happen and i had to talk myself out of it repeatedly and the SECOND Tuah brought up his theory to booker I was like oh shit this is really happening. we got the "redemption by death" trope which i have come to loathe. I started this movie hoping he'd stay immortal, then thought okay please let him survive the movie AND HERE WE ARE

First of all, booker's punishment in the first one was so compelling to me because he spent two centuries wishing he could die, BETRAYED HIS FAMILY FOR IT and then was forced to be alone -- what a great opportunity for him to learn how to actually LIVE.

Fine, take away his immortality and give it to andy, i can overlook sketchy lore.....why kill him so unnecessarily??? it's not as tho him dying actually changed anything. we coulda had andy and her two freshly mortal besties set off on their quest to save their family. Let him actually learn and GROW (and give him a heroic sacrifice in the next movie if you must lol)

and he and joe and nicky hardly said two words to each other?? and he's just...gone?? AND THEY DONT EVEN KNOW -- NO ONE ELSE KNOWS

to be clear. absolutely in character for booker to do this. but his arc could've been so. much. more. interesting.
