"Is there ANYTHING to do here?” Sera groaned, obviously bored.
Feeling the same boredom as the girl, Lexi looked over and replied. "You know, I'm actually not sure." Her voice sounded croaky and she wondered for a second how long it's been since she spoke to someone.
Anybody here?
Matt looked around in wonder as he entered the Institute but as far as he could tell, there was no one up. “Maybe it’s a bit late,” he said to himself
Lexi had been awake all night and was still not tired. She had tried sleeping, but it was as she lay in bed that she decided to go walking. She had been wondering around for awhile now and hadn’t run into anyone so it was a shock to hear a door creek. With sudden stealth, Lexi moved towards the sound to find someone standing in the doorway, the cold air blowing behind him. "I don’t think I’ve seen you before…" She said and stepped into the light shining from outside.

“Right.” Derreck snapped back to reality when he caught the beseeching eyes of the young fae beside him. He realized he had been staring at one of the group members, the beautiful vampire girl, just admiring every move she made and shutting down the world behind him.
He affixed his eyes on the ground deep in thought. In times like this, most would probably be taken aback with the fact that he would “waste his time” doing such ridiculous tasks. Perceived as laid back and inert, people would usually underestimate his concealed wits and streetwise Mundane-like self. Although he hated analysing, his ego and drive for victory, as well as the reality that in desperate circumstances, he had teammates as aid.
24601, 24601, he mumbled to himself recurrently, a few times, a smile would sometimes creep up to his face as he recalled watching the classic movie and jammed to a few songs of theirs ages ago. The proposal of the his fellow fay made a lot of sense as he told himself, ‘Why not check it out?’ Yet he knew something was off; where exactly would that bat be in Room 24601?
24601, 24601. Things were running through his mind, as his lips curled into a confident grin. “No,” he announced to the circle of eager eyes waiting for his next attempt. He turned to his side, nodding kindly as if telling the lass, ‘Just trust me in this.’
2. “Second floor of the building.” 46. “Room number forty-six.” 01. “Under the bed – the first one,” he rambled on, laying down his theory with certainty and mentally patting himself. “Let’s go check it out.”
Lexi looked around the room, hoping that she wasn't the only one that didn't fully understand what was going on. The group of creatures here ranged from vampires screaming in excitement to her, someone who didn't even care. Having time off training would be ideal and amazing, but she could skip whenever and having permission to leave wasn't nearly as fun. As for the road trip, she wouldn't go to that with her friends, let alone this crazy group.
Lexi had been ignoring most of the conversation, only listening to what the latest boy had said, and wanted to add something, but she'd never seen this french movie.
"So," She said, after a minute of silence. "I guess we may as well have a look, if Derreck thought of it, I bet others did." She waved her hand towards the mumbling boy and made her way towards the door.
Lena noticed that her voice was coated with a hint of hidden jealousy. She lowered her bow and offered her a smile.
"Thanks," she mumbled. "It took me a while to master this. I mean, I’m immortal. I’ve had all the time I need. You’ll get there eventually."
She hoped that Lexi wouldn’t think of her as a show off. Showing off was never her intention.
I could tell that Helena was trying to be nice, and she was obviously trying to encourage me or whatever, but it was hard to like someone who did almost exactly what I wanted with such ease.
"Yeah, well I don't exactly have forever" I said, "but with everything thats going on,i hope i can at least hit my target." A slight laugh escaped from my mouth at the image of some monster rushing towards me as I throw a a dagger meters from it in an attempt at protecting myself.
Luke sighed at her answer. It seemed like no one was really willing to train. He couldn’t blame them, though.
"Well," he started. "I came here to give my assistance in training even it is quite tiring at times."
"Oh," Lexi said a little awkwardly realizing that if she had actually turned up to training she would know he was a teacher. She sighed and looked away, thinking how annoyed he must that she would come here secretly, but not when she was meant to. "Uh, I guess it's just too much effort."
"But maybe if I knew why I was here, i'd be a little more likely to train?"

Maeve smiled,caught up in nostalgia. “Do you know who Grace O’Malley is?” Maeve asked Alexandra. “The Pirate Queen of Connaught?” she prompted. She smiled remembering Grace O’Malley teaching her how to hold a rapier and a cutlass, and how to use them to cut down one’s enemy. Growing up on Clew Bay, Maeve had been surrounded by pirates and sailors, and she wasn’t apart from their way of life.
"Well, I grew up with her as a mother-figure, I guess you could say. In around the 1530’s."
Lexi tried thinking back to her history lessons, but knew only that the princess was a pirate and that was pretty damn cool. She couldn't imagine living on a ship with the constant rocking back and forth and wondered how well this girl knew that time, a lot of the time Lexi couldn't even remember the day before.
But she spent little thought on that and instantly though of all the years this warlocks been alive. "1530's..." she started, counting the years in her head, "that makes you like 500 years old!"
Lena sensed that her presence was a bit unwelcome. She didn’t bother getting out of the training room, though. She was actually looking forward to spend some time with her bow and arrows.
"Since I fair better with this baby of mine," she said, absentmindedly running a finger down the curve of the bow. "I will use it."
She positioned herself far from the target beside the girl’s. She grabbed an arrow from her quiver and notched it on the bow. The room was dark, but the dimness was not a hindrance. She had trained herself to shoot with nothing but the light of the stars to guide her and a moving silhouette as the target. This would be a piece of cake.
With a deep breath, she let go of the string and watched as the arrow lodged itself on the bull’s eye.
She lowered her bow and smiled. Forgetting that she was feeling quite acrimonious toward Lena, she turned to the girl.
"How was that?"
Just as I suspected, Lena was an amazing shot, she hit the target with outrageous accuracy. I was already half through placing the daggers down, but was slightly distracted with both curiosity and hate. Why was she so good? and how long until I was like that?
I looked at the girls straight posture and expectant gaze and tried to think of a good response. "That was," I started, stopping a second to think of a word that wasn't too flattering, but not an outright lie. "uh, just real good."

Maeve caught the slight hesitation in Alexandra’s voice, but decided not to question it. One was allowed to keep secrets.
She saw Alexandra looking at her hair, like so many others. Maeve herself had often wondered if her hair was part of her warlock mark. “Well,” Maeve said, “I suppose it gets repetetive after a while. But it’s always interesting to see how the world changes.
Lexi shook her head, trying to move her eyes from the warlocks hair without being obvious. Although she'd never have it, she couldn't deny that her hair was pretty damn cool. "Uh, how the world changes?" I asked, "How old are you exactly?" She didn't think she'd be that old, maybe a hundred or so? Lexi could remember times when she'd dream about immortality, wondered what it'd be like to live forever, stay the same age. 'A life-long party' she had always laughed. But as a shadowhunter, Lexi wasn't sure anymore.
"Thank you," Lena said before putting all her focus on the knife and target.
Although she was adept at archery, throwing knives was a skill she had to master.
After a deep breath, she threw the borrowed dagger at the target.
She let out a sigh at the result of her attempt. It was about five inches away from the bull's eye.
"Oh well."
"At least you gave it a try." I said, trying to hide my happiness. Although the girl had done well, and admittedly better than me, I was relieved she didn't get a bull's eye.
To distract myself from Helena and hide my amusement, I went to the target and took out the two daggers. Mostly hoping as I did that she'd move away. But when I turned around she was still there.
"Are you gonna stand there or use that pretty bow of yours?" I asked and slowly walked back with my hands full of knives.
Luke tilted his head to the side a bit, trying to read the expression on the girl’s face. Was it irritation? Whatever it was, he didn’t ponder too long on it.
"Yes," he said. "But you can continue using it if you want." he added quickly.
"So what brought you here to the New York Institute, Alexandra?"
"I wasn't brought, I was forced." I replied, a little proud at my quick reply even when I was out of breath. I made my way over to the target and piked up all my dropped daggers, then made my way back to my spot, showing Luke that I wasn't moving.
"But what about you, why are you here?" though I spoke calmly and focused on the bullls-eye instead of him, I really did want to know why he came here. Out of everywhere, I couldn't understand why he'd come here.

Would anyone know where my room is?
Maeve bit her lip and gave Alexandra a half-smile. She had met a few people, and of course there was Church, the slightly snobbish cat, but Maeve had a feeling that she hadn’t even seen a fraction of the people in the New York Institute. She wasn’t a people-person.
"Maeve. Maeve Brennan, warlock." she replied.
"I'm a...shadowhunter." Lexi said, hesitant. She still hated the word, every time she heard the word it would scream out how not normal she was, how she couldn't go back to her room - that probably wasn't her room anymore - or go out with her life long friends.
As she looked at the girls epic red hair, she wondered what it would be like to be a warlock and if she'd rather that than shadowhunter. "Warlock? Whats that like?"
That's What I Get For Choosing Pizza || Open
There was obviously no training room at the New York Institute. Or Landon couldn’t find it. He figured it was probably the latter. He’d been at the Institute for a week or so already but between settling in and trying to find the best place that made pizza; he just hadn’t had the time to train. Now he had. Except it was missing and it was driving Landon insane. After coming out of his room, he’d gone left and found the kitchen. He’d continued on and now was lost in some random hallway with a portrait the entire size of the wall it hung on. Landon, frustrated, ran a hand through his hair before deciding to circle back to the kitchen and ask somebody for help. Someone was bound to help him, right?
Within seconds he was standing in the doorway. He leaned against the frame and scanned the room for somebody who looked nice enough to help him. Noticing someone on the far side of the room, Landon made his way over. “Alright, this place sucks,” he said by way of introduction, scratching the back of his neck. “I mean, it doesn’t but I keep getting lost. It’s the damn hallways. I’m trying to find the training room. You wouldn’t happen to know where that is, would you?” He winced as he realised how rude that sounded. “I’m Landon, by the way. And I’m sorry to have ruined your meal.”
"No, you're right. It does kinda suck." Lexi slowly lifted her head up tried to make out some recognizable features. He seemed nice and it made her wonder how long he'd been here. And how long he'd stay. When she first looked up, all she saw was white light and it wasn't until she had rubbed her eyes that she could fully see Landon. Maybe now that she had to exercise and train with the tiniest bit of sleep, drinking wasn't a good idea.
"I'm Alexandra Nightshade, but you can call me Lexi. Everyone does." She finally said and put the glass she was holding down next to her half eaten lunch. "And don't worry about the food, I wasn't hungry anyway." Lexi lifted herself off the stool, and stepped away, ignoring her mess. She was on a mission, this person had asked for help and she was free to give it. If she ever wanted to get out of here, getting on the good side of a few people could only help get her back onto her parents good side and back home with her real friends.
"Follow me, I'll take you there."

"Ah, sorry I have no idea." Alexandra said, looking up at the girl for a second. "I don't even have one." From her quick glance she could tell the girl hadn't been here for long, she looked kind of frightened. The thought of that made her wonder if she had looked so scared when she first came to this place.
"Oh, and the names Alexandra."
Judging from the numerous knives on the floor, she surmised that she was trying to get one to stick to the wall. She was an expert at archery, but she didn’t know how she fared with knife throwing.
Figuring out that it wouldn’t hurt to try, she knelt down and picked the dagger closest to her and faced the girl.
"May I?"
I was tired from all the throwing and didn't have the effort to think up a good reason for the girl to not have ago. Anyway, there was probably no harm in her having ago. Just because she was probably the best archer didn't mean she could throw knives. "Yeah," I replied with a small smile and stepped out of the way, "Have a shot."
Luke looked at the knives on the wall before speaking.
"I’m sorry for disturbing you," he apologized. “And I’m up because I felt the urge to train with this blade of mine, just like you. I’m Luke Garroway, by the way. And you are…?"
"Alexandra. Alexandra Nightshade." I said with a vague smile, trying to be nice to him. I could tell from the way he looked at me, like I was something impossible, that he didn't know who I was. "I doubt you've heard of me." I added and looked at what he was holding. The way he held it and the its look made me think it was something special.
I looked to the scattered wall another time and realized that he might want to use that. "Did you want to use the target?" I asked gesturing with another dagger at the wall.
I stood there in the dark room as a sudden flush of embarrassment flew over me. I could tell that my hair was a mess and my face must have looked like a tomato. Daggers lined the floor and it was obvious that I didn’t place them there on purpose. I had hoped now one…
Lexi hesitated with her answer. She was almost certain that the girl ’d get it stuck and in the centre, but she couldn’t say no. "Yeah, have a shot" she spoke in a not-intensional-out-of-breath-husky voice and cringed at how unfit she was. Ugh, she thought, I really do need to start training more often.
