People always ask me how I come up with my quotes and captions on Instagram. Truth is- I see something, I perceive it differently, then I write about it. ⠀ ⠀ I know that everything I see and perceive is up to me and so I flip it so it serves me. ⠀ ⠀ If it’s an ordinary day or object, I seek out the meaning of it. If it’s a negative experience, I find the positive. If it’s an obstacle, I turn it into an opportunity. ⠀ ⠀ It’s all up to me and it’s all up to you. The best part of the career I’ve created for myself are the people I get to work with along the way. ⠀ ⠀ 3rd photo shoot with @fotogrldg and I’m amazed every time on not only how she creates magic with the camera and lighting but how she knows how to pull out emotion from me. ⠀ ⠀ It’s crazy how the same “face”, when posed, can be a completely different photo just from how the eyes or eyebrows make you feel when you look at it. ⠀ ⠀ I never realized how difficult it is to evoke a different emotion with the same expression, if that makes any sense. ⠀ ⠀ While the result, a gallery of incredible photos, is amazing- what I get the most out of working with Debra is something much deeper than photos. It’s like she taps into untapped potential and unleashes emotions inside of you. ⠀ ⠀ It’s hard to put into words but all I know is how I feel and in the moment and afterwards, today, I feel a sense of replenished creative energy. ⠀ ⠀ She really does have a gift and I am beyond grateful to not only be able to create with her, but to have built an incredible friendship in the process. ⠀ ⠀ So grateful for social media for bringing us together along this crazy journey! I always say, people come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. Think about the last time you felt most confident. Where were you, who were you with, what just happened or is happening in your life? ⠀ ⠀ I would say most, if not all, of us feel more empowered to do things outside of our comfort zone when we know we are not alone. ⠀ ⠀ Think about it in your social life, I know for myself I would be way more likely to go up and introduce myself to a guy at a bar when I'm out with friends than alone. ⠀ ⠀ It's same for business and your career. When you feel supported you are more empowered to speak up, stand up and act on the things you want in life. ⠀ ⠀ That's something the #metoo movement did for all of us. It brought women together. It showed one another that we are not alone and we can speak our mind. ⠀ ⠀ That's why for WEX, one of our core values is community- our whole movement grew from community. ⠀ ⠀ It is all of us, together, that will empower one another to achieve our dreams. ⠀ ⠀ Do you agree, disagree, indifferent? People always ask what inspires me- as you can tell from this video, everything and anything! ⠀ ⠀ While learning how to snowboard my instructor just kept on saying “look up” but my natural habit was to look down at my feet thinking this was the way I could balance and know where I’m going. ⠀ ⠀ But as soon as I trusted myself and looked up, that’s when I was able to actually snowboard! ⠀ ⠀ We tend to do that a lot in our life, look down at only what’s in front of us, our current plan... current state of being... current reality. ⠀ ⠀ But in order to move forward we have to trust we know the next steps to take and keep our head up looking forward. ⠀ (at Aspen, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/BswFRdgFXB1/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=kyudlg9u55c
