OC - WAVE ECHO CAVE 

I’ve been DM’ing a D&D 5e group for a few weeks not using the starter set adventure, “Lost Mines of Phandelver” and the party is coming close to getting into Wave Echo Cave. The map provided was all well and good, but I wanted to move the story along and not spend the next eternity exploring dead-ends.  I’ve created a lot of OC content that takes place after Wave Echo, so I redrew the provided map to make it a little more streamline but still provide plenty of challenge. Some of the things I’ve planted in the cave will help set up the end of the story thats completely off-script from the provided adventure.

Some of the cave retains its original form; like the old and new entrances, where certain boss battles happen, and the underground pools. I’ve put much more focus on the Grand Hall and added some challenge around the north end of the map.

everyone meet Babs Dewflower, a druid I came up with for our next D&D campaign. We’re not even close to playing our next campaign yet but I came up with Babs and had to draw her out. 

She used to be a regular goat until an out of control mage turned her into a self-aware, slightly magical, humanoid goat. She’s 150 years old and shows no sign of slowing down. She’s spent her entire life in the company of normal goats, Druids, and Dryads and has outlived all of her goat family. She hates children but loves kids. 

Having outlives her entire family and friends, she's setting out to find information on the mage who transformed her in hopes of learning more about the school of magic that gave her her powers. 

Babs is chill in the way that most old people are and she's far more interested in entertaining guests with tea and biscuits than being mean. She embraces that she's a bit of an oddity and loves dressing in fancy bits of fabric she fashions together into patchwork clothing. She might not be the strongest or most dexterous, but she's wise beyond her years and brimming with charisma.

Having never gotten into D&D or really any RPG game in my youth, I decided to give it a try on my 30th trip around the sun. I’m lucky to have a handful of friends and a very good husband who all were enthusiastic to try our hands at a beginners adventure. 

I’m the DM for the group and have been having a lot of fun editing the Lost Mines of Phandalin beginners adventure, adding lots of original content, different monsters and NPCs, and learning how to be a good storyteller. 

We’re almost to the town of Phandalin and I wanted to provide a map to the players. The one provided in the book had some things I didnt want to deal with and I also wanted to add a few OC tweaks. I redrew my vision of Phandalin above, I hope my crew finds it a good resource!
