I fucking knew I been drawing Maul hands tattoo wrong all the time. This fucker always wear gloves, so I had to relied on the concept art from Son of Dathomir, which was not really helping since it was low res and tiny. Any 1/6 or 1/4 scale statues or figurine of Maul made before Maul: Shadow Lord always tend to have different tattoos they can't agree on.

Here a better reference from 1/6 scale Hot Toys Maul: Shadow Lord (release on Sep 2027), this should be oficial. Actually, I remember when Garbage Maul appeared in CW ss4 his hands doesn't even has tattoo nor the black palm. At least in my drawing I make sure these palm are black.

wip Jedi AU Maul. After watching Shadow Lord I took note of what I should change when drawing teen Maul, it's fun to experiment around. My hc is all Dathomirian adorn marking rather than ink-and-needle-tattoo, the marking link to their magic and connection to Dathomir. Maul marking took shape, grew with him as he age, maybe it get darken as he older too. Teenager Maul would has simplified marking, less intricate detail.

(I think Maul totally forgot about his piercing ; it's just part of his head. Imagine Savage asked "When did you get THAT??" Maul confused. "Get what???" And he pointed to Maul ear. Maul forgot about that piercing once a week.)
