For my Thursday Check-In this week, I would like to ask about the feedback that was left on my Design Project Part 1 so I am better able to revise the responses that I submitted. In the feedback, the notes stated that my hashtags were inconsistent, which I do not completely understand. From what I have seen on the internet, across any platform, is that not all fans will use the exact same hashtags for every single tweet regarding their canceled show. Twitter/X has a very judgemental overtone, and many of the users enjoy “subtweeting” which is when a user talks about a situation without directly naming it (e.g. not using hashtags, refusing to tag people involved) but uses enough details that everyone can figure out what they are talking about. From how I took the feedback, the problem with the hashtags in my responses was that it would be difficult to transition into the second part of the project, and how fans would be able to find each other. In reality, Twitter users (and just frequent social media users in general) know how to find what they want to see without having to use hashtags. And, if you were going to tweet about a show, you probably follow other accounts that also tweet about the show, and they follow other fan accounts, and the chain goes on. This is how different communities form, not necessarily through hashtags. The same goes with whoever is running the Twitter account for the production studio, they were hired to solely do social media, so they have (or should have) extensive knowledge of how to use their platforms. If someone is talking negatively about them or their show, they will know about it, regardless of the hashtags. However, for the sake of this project, if you would like me to use more uniform and repetitive hashtags in the tweets to be more clear, I am willing and able to revise them. I just wanted to let you know where I was coming from, and get a better understanding of what you are looking for in the fan responses.
