ANNIE MURPHY AS ALEXIS ROSE — in Schitts Creek | “The Incident”
#like sister like brother
Alexis Hands™ (part two)
Two Weeks Until Elevate! 2022 Sign-Ups Open!
In 2020, 4% of all Schitt's Creek fics were tagged F/F.
In 2021, 7% of fics were F/F.
In 2022, 8% of fics are F/F.
It's progress, but it's not enough! That's why the gateway is opening again in 2 weeks. It's almost time to ELEVATE!
What's Elevate!?
At its heart, Elevate! is a Schitt's Creek exchange that centers on Alexis, Moira, Jocelyn, Twyla, Stevie, Ronnie, Gwen, Ruth, Tennessee, Heather, Rachel, Shannon, and any other non-male character from the show.
You can participate in two ways:
Sign up for the exchange! You let us know what you want to receive and what you want to write, and we match you with a new friend.
Submit a solo work! Add a work to the collection—fic, art, podfic, or anything else—before the due date, and it'll get posted as part of the releases.
Important Dates:
Sign Ups Open: August 1-14
Matches Delivered: By August 16
Works Due: October 9
Works Posted: October 10-14
Works Revealed: October 17
FAQs:
If I’m going to submit a solo work, do I have to sign up by August 14? No!
If I want to partner with a writer to create art, podfic, or something else, how do I get that set up? Email us at [email protected] and we’ll get you connected!
If I want to partner with an artist, podficcer, or someone else to have work included with my fic, how do I get that set up? Find us at [email protected] and we’ll take care of you!
Are there any restrictions on who can sign up? We only ask that fest participants (exchange and solo) be 18+.
I have more questions! We have answers! Find us at [email protected] or here at our ask box!
Announcing the 2021 Schitt’s Creek Frozen Over Fest
Let's celebrate the cold, snowy weather and assorted holidays that bring joy to the long, dark Canadian wintertime. Join us for our third year!
Frozen Over is a prompt fest (not an exchange) for Schitt’s Creek fanworks inspired by that time of year when the creek is frozen over. All types of AO3-supported fanworks are welcome! Create prompts, claim prompts, and have fun!
Important Dates: (all times Eastern)
Prompts Submitted: September 15-29th at noon
Claiming Prompts: Sept 29th-Nov 28
Posting Deadline: November 28 at at 11:59pm
Fanworks Released: Daily at noon beginning December 1
Creators Revealed: One week from the last day of releases
How to Participate
I want to participate as a writer!
Awesome! Once the collection opens for prompting on September 15, leave all the prompts that your heart desires, then come back on September 29 or later to claim the prompts you want to fill. We will have catch-all prompts, too, if you want to work from a separate, original idea.
I want to participate as a podficcer or a fanartist!
Yay! We love this journey for you. Email us at [email protected] and, if possible, we'll connect you with a writer! We will have catch-all prompts, too, if you want to submit your own original fanart or podfic of an existing winter-themed fic.
Wait – I'm a writer, and I'd love to have a podfic or fanart created to go with my Frozen Over 2021 work!
Cool! Email us at [email protected] and, if possible, we'll connect you with a podficcer and/or artist!
Can I leave prompts even if I'm not contributing to the fest myself?
Yes! But we'd love it if you considered contributing, too 😉🤗 (No pressure, of course.)
Additional FAQs, rules, and other helpful information are available on AO3!
Questions? Reach us on Tumblr @scfrozenover (Asks are open!) or via email at [email protected]

Hello everyone! It’s time for the third annual Schitt’s Creek holiday card exchange! Here’s how it works:
Registration starts, Today!
Registration ends, Tuesday November 30, 11:59 PDT
Exchange begins, Friday, December 3
How to Register:
Fill out the form between now and 11/30:
https://forms.gle/eLVnbksE6HhQCUYt9
You will include, name, postal address, and an email address (I’ll be sending you addresses to that email so make sure it is one you check–but it will not be on the list given out). You will also have to include a social media handle (to make sure you actually are a real person) but I’ll have an option if you don’t want that shared on the list).
Please don’t send me any of this info here in an ask…fill out the form.
How It Works:
Register during the registration window above (late entrants not accepted). Feel free to share the form with any of your Schitt’s Creek pals who want to participate, this isn’t just for Tumblr. On December 4th, I will send out addresses in a pdf file in random order to participants and ONLY to participants.
The most important part: You must send a card to the person right below you on the list (if you are last, you will send to the person at the top of the list). You only have to send that one card but feel free to send to as many people as you want. Some people send one card and some people send to the entire list.
Rules of the Exchange:
1. You have to send at least one card, to the person that is below you on the list. If you happen to be last on the list, you send one to the person who is first. This is how we ensure EVERYONE gets a card.
2. The cards you send do not have to be Schitt’s Creek themed…they can just be your normal holiday card. But since it is a fandom card exchange, feel free to make fun Schitt’s Creek cards! Add little SC jokes or even little drawings or notes. HAVE FUN!
3. Treat this information as confidential and DO NOT share the list at all. Not even with someone who forgot to register. AT ALL. If you have questions about this, message me.
4. Be nice. It’s a big fandom, you’re here to have fun. Remember kindness always wins. And if I find out you aren’t kind, you will be disinvited from participating in the future.
For questions, feel free to send me an ask or a message.
🚨Open Fic Night 2.0 Dates Announced!🚨
GET READY, everyone, because it is officially Open Fic Night season!
We hope everyone that can will participate, so we want to give you lots of time to prepare. Registration for the Fic Exchange isn't until October 1st, so you still have lots of time to think of the prompts you'd like to have written for you!
And just like last time, there will be a category for solo (non-exchange) fics and art. And we are hoping for even more art this time, so spread the word and get creative!
Soon we will be posting a new and improved FAQ with everything you need to know about how to participate in and/or enjoy Open Fic Night, so stay tuned!
And remember... Open Fic Night is for EVERYONE! New writers are welcome and encouraged!
More details to come soon, and a BIG thanks to everyone sharing our posts! We are so excited to be bringing this back and hope that you guys have lots of fun with it!
Love,
Your friendly neighbourhood OFN mods,

"he sometimes thinks of Schitt’s Creek as a medieval village; it’s a whole thing" can... can we hear the whole thing please?
Living in Schitt’s Creek is kind of like the Dark Ages, where the wifi is spotty and the clothes are bad. David feels like a medieval peasant–really if he was questioned on this it was more like a noble stripped of lands and titles due to some horrible grudge by some evil dark king person, but anyway, medieval peasants–he’s read–didn’t really get a choice about where they lived or who governed them; they didn’t get to vote.
Like who voted for Roland? David ignores the fact that people actually voted for Roland, and decides Roland is a tyrant, deposited there by some careless earl who owed Roland favors, ew, gross. Roland is the Sheriff of Nottingham, except that David doesn’t remember the name of Sheriff of Nottingham and also is pretty sure Robin Hood is a hot fox. But anyway Roland is this horrible appointee no one likes and everyone has to tolerate because they are powerless peasants.
Medieval towns also have a town well, like in Snow White, because David’s knowledge of medieval times was all derived from Disney, apparently, as well as extremely dense esoteric novels no one but him reads, and who knows why but he’s also read an insane amount of Russian literature and Borges. But anyway, in medieval times everyone had to go to the well because it was the only way to get water, and you had to talk to people there. It was a water cooler thing, except that David has never experienced the water cooler thing and believes the water cooler thing to also be medieval, because didn’t water cooler conversations evolve in the 80s? So basically the Dark Ages.
But wells are worse than water coolers, because not only do you have to make conversation, you have to wash your clothes there where people are drinking, and wash other things, like potatoes and feet; it’s disgusting. He read this book about how everyone got cholera from a well because it was built on top of this pit where all these dead people were buried, and that’s how we know about patient zero and something to do with mapping diseases. Anyway, David knows a bunch of really, really vivid and detailed information about cholera, and imagines he’s going to get it every time he drinks water at Cafe Tropical, which is of course the town well.
Meanwhile the General Store, while it is still the General Store, is in fact a General Store from the Old West, which David isn’t sure but was probably at the same time as the Middle Ages? Anyway the OK Corral is definitely just on the other side of the General Store and these country people do terrible things over there at high noon.
Twyla is probably a witch, is the other thing he knows, and Jocelyn is the beautiful woman everyone would sacrifice to a volcano, although David isn’t really sure there were volcanoes in the Middle Ages. Also walking into a Blouse Barn is like walking into a dungeon; you can see the rack and the iron maiden and a pillory. David could write a dissertation on Medieval torture devices, even though his understanding of geological processes is admittedly very shaky.
Stevie is not from the Middle Ages. She’s from the 80s, like him, and he’s very grateful they escaped that terrible time period in a time machine. Patrick is not Medieval and also not from the 80s. Patrick is from a Mark’s Men’s Warehouse that is always just eight years behind the present. It has existed forever but because it is outside of time and space people like Patrick don’t often escape, and when they do everybody marvels at how perfect and clean they are while also wondering why they don’t seem to know how to use Bluetooth.
Sometimes David worries about his mother becoming town crier. The end.

oh and stevie is “i’m washing me and my clothes bitch”
I decided to compile all the comments I’ve made on @open-fic-night fics so far and put them through a word cloud generator. This is the top of the list of most frequently used words. I think from now on I can just write “DAVID LOVE PATRICK REALLY GOOD” on all the fics and that should sum it up.
This, is… 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
OFN love this really good
So, the authors of the Open Fic Night collection have finally been revealed, and our little event has drawn to a close!
This should be obvious, but WE COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT ALL OF YOU!!! We can't thank everyone who created or commented on OFN work ENOUGH! *sniff* We love you guys!
So...
Well first of all, we'd expect a lot of you still have a lot of reading to do!
And don't forget that the whole point of the OFN was to encourage people to write in the first place. So if you're at a loss, work on your WIP, or if you don't have one, start one!
We will be releasing a list later today of all the unused prompts from the event, take some inspiration and keep writing in the off-season!
Oh... and one more thing...
OPEN FIC NIGHT WILL BE BACK!!!
Details to come in the early autumn ;)
